I guess with the whole defense changing over - both players and coaches - it’s not a terrible idea to have a veteran QB who doesn’t turn the ball over starting.

What does he run? If Elston had been the guy, I could have gotten behind it if Kelly trusted that he was able to implement the Elko Lea defense and keep it going. Getting Freeman is awesome though from an optics/recruiting standpoint.
He switches between a 3-3-5, 3-4, 4-3, and 4-2-5 depending on the type of offense he’s facing that week. Basically his entire scheme is based on core principles that can be run out of any alignment, but then he matches personnel to the offense he’s facing to have the best athletes on the field. He throws a bunch of crazy pre-snap looks at offenses constantly.
Post-snap it sounds like it’s going to be very similar to what we saw under Lea. But I think we’ll see a lot more pre-snap deception and more sophisticated pressures.
I'm just joking after seeing 2 man lines against Dalvin Cook this season. I think we have a pretty decent depth at all levels of at least decent players that we can throw a lot of looks at teams if that's what he is looking to do
