Was able to get all Cindy game films. Gonna do a study of their D. Probably take me a couple weeks but I'm excited
I think Cindy's husband might not like this
looks like BK landed him a 5* coach and it sure feels good
also hope Elston says on board
I hope Elston stays, but I'm sympathetic to why he would not want to. He's been a very loyal and productive member of the staff and if he feels at this point that his best path is elsewhere, I couldn't blame him. I think neither would BK. If he leaves, I hope he does well. Though I have the right to amend those wishes depending on where he could Land.
Seems like based on articles, podcasts etc that my take aways on Freeman are:
1) He adapts his scheme to his players and the opponent, great! Every instance of failure at DC across the country typically comes from DC's who believe in their scheme over everything (See Pelini at LSU)
2) He's hyper on recruiting and leaves no stone uncovered. He's really into defending his own backyard of Dayton, of which there are (2) top 100 defensive players in 2022 class at a Catholic High School. Unfortunately they are committed to Ohio State :(
3) He's humble and very young, also sounds like both him and Fickell are of the find the best fit mentality when it comes to next jobs. If he succeeds at ND, he's not going to just jump at the first P5 job thrown his way.
4) Sounds like he got paid
He learned sign language in hopes of building trust with a recruit.
Him and Mickens need to rub off on the rest of the staff when it comes to recruiting.
Spoiler: Does he know this one
i was listening to the Pod of Gold podcast (Eric Hansen and Tom Noie I believe) and Eric was talking about a conversation he had with Mike Denbrock. Eric asked Denbrock how many of the top 100 recruits he thought could actually survive (after making it in to ND) for 4 years at ND (academically and culturally) and Denbrock said maybe only 25%. That's coming from a guy who had 2 different stints at ND and it's crazy to think about. Aaron Lynch was an example they brought up. 5* guy who got accepted and actually made good enough grades to stay on the football team, but he transferred because he just wasn't a fit at ND.
I guess that's why BK stresses fit so much. It's one thing to get them into ND, it's even harder to keep them there.
Time to nab Wan’dale Robinson from Nebraska
I’d love to have a shifty slot guy that we’d incorrectly use in the offense
Don’t we know have 2 to waste? Watts and Styles.
He wants to be closer to home. He’s from Kentucky.
Yeah, but they aren’t 5’9” haha
Pelini is a terrible example. The guy has been toast for years.
Because he doesn’t adjust well.
bvg, tenuta, diaco all are like that too. Their defense is their defense and they won’t tweak it for the talent on the roster.
We really need a qb
And the courage to throw the ball downfield.
Watching these qbs makes me sad. I wonder if clauses had stayed it would have started a better trend. We have no hope at the qb position outside of a kid with one year of hs football who sucked at the elite 11
Meanwhile Alabama signed Tua and Mac Jones in the same class
I'm hopeful that Coan can be Mac Jones light.
He won't be, but I'm hopeful.
Coan just needs to not be a disaster will help Nd think about taking a grad tanager at an more often.
shots on first downs?
jameson or patron?
Would have been Jamo, iced tea now :(
And an offensive coordinator
Lol just fat fingers on my phone
Still really need a qb
OSU getting that big turnover from Bama that ND desperately needed
This made me think of Don Julio Anejo, man that stuff tasted good.
QB is #1, but having any semblance of creativity or uniqueness would be #2
In our two blowout losses we just lined up for a one yard run on 1st down, incomplete pass on 2nd down, incomplete pass on 3rd down and these offenses look like they're doing stuff that Rees thinks is illegal.
Guys, Ian Book was the qb
Imagine playing this Bama defense and trying to win without running tempo
Oh yeah that was us
Maybe I am naive but I have to think this is mostly Bk. You would think Rees has some progressive ideas as a young guy
Kelly literally telegraphed it in ever press conference he was in once the regular season ended.
“Need to play ball control. It’s what has gotten us here. Need to be what got us here.”
(it wasn’t what got us there)
I mean the last time we had a decent qb (Kizer....yikes) we had a pretty explosive offense when the program wasn’t imploding so maybe there is hope.
We moved away from ball control in the 1st half and 4th quarters of the first Clemson game. And during long stretches of the UNC game.
Ball control yielded us 12 points vs Louisville. Being aggressive on 1st and 2nd down is when we actually scored points this season.
Pushing the ball downfield makes such a difference. We need a QB who is willing to do it.
On the plus side, our defense looks pretty good
Well, we held to 31, they have 35 before half.
We gave up two TDs on the first two possessions. After that our defense adjusted and played very well.
Bama is torching OSU right now by a wider margin.
I think we are going to realize that Clark Lea was a genius pretty quickly.
damn this makes me appreciate Lea and the D.
Especially when your offense can’t move the ball.
Fowler you dipshit, they had 31 last week.
Second best team in the country
Final ranking will be interesting. Just rank Bama 1 and go home.
Can’t imagine letting Bama score 35 on my team
Lol Nick gonna score 70
