so this basketball team was awful in perhaps the worst major conference in the country this year? oh yeah, things are looking good for the irish
He’s already at a catholic school in Chicago. His team looks great at both ends and they work for rebounds.
Feel like IU will mess this hire up, doubt that he's their target. He's pretty much only recruited like 3 states which happen to be the only 3 states you need to recruit at IU so that's a plus
I think it goes Beard Drew Moser That could change, but I don’t see Moser being available after this year. Somebody will get him
I don’t doubt that’s the list but I think it comes down to Moser The other two have established top programs already
I'm sorry to see Wojo leave Marquette for one because he's a great dude and I know his family wanted to stick around there, but also because Marquette will probably go after someone ND will eventually want
So you are saying that in 5 years after the program does exactly what everyone ITT wanted that they will find a way to bitch about it?
Played around with the class calculator, if ND just gets the guys it seems like it leads for class is probably around 260 or so. With some small surprises at DB, WR, and RB class could go to around 290. ND Legit has a chance at finishing #5 -#7 this year in cruiting That's with all the east coast kids being under ranked right now due to not playing ball Pair that with last years class and its a damn good base for the 2023, 2024, 2025 seasons
None of the prospects that ND has landed really leap off the page to me like a Mayer or Hamilton but there are a lot of really good players in this class already and they appear poised to add a lot more. So far out of the 11 commits the only one I am not a pretty big fan of is Nickel and I don't even dislike him much as a prospect. If they land who I think they will land this might be the strongest top to bottom class since I started following ND recruiting though obviously I'd like some guys that are no brainer dominant prospects but I don't really see many in this class in general let alone with the pool ND recruits from. (Covid has probably fucked a lot of these kids development)
Gobaira had another monster game this past weekend. 4+ sacks and 2 forced turnovers...just looks crazy good out there we might be looking at another top 100 level player when it's all said and done with him
and Singer put in a CB to ND for Jaylen Sneed this morning... he saw him over the weekend at the UA camp
He looks like he is both the nicest kid you’ll meet and the dude that will end you if he feels like it.
Feel like Jackson might be the odd man out. I feel like Cheeks is a silent and Sneed is a take, unless they want to load up after skipping LB for two classes really
Based on Snead's post visit interview with Loy, sounds like ND told him we have 1 spot left at LB and they'd like it to be him. Loy said we're taking more than 3 LBs in the class so we definitely have at least 1 silent. Seems like most people feel it's either Cheeks of Junior with a very small possibility that it's both and we'll be taking 5 LBs. Loy was not clear on how many ND would take this cycle except that it was more than 3.
Whose Junior? Aren't we still favorites for Niuafe? Would think Burnham, Jackson, Niuafe, Cheeks, and Snead would all have spots if they want it.
If ND was in the big they would have made the tournament as a top 5 seed but also they would have been blown out by a lower tier mid major team. So at least we didn't have to get excited for nothing
Kelly getting ranked #3 for CFB coaches by both Mandel and Feldman on the Athletic is triggering people
he also said this in response to a question about LB recruiting and silent commits (people are assuming that this is Sneed and Junior - that would be my preference as well to fill out the LB class): Two linebackers have told assistant coaches that they are coming, but neither have gone through the entire process of actually telling Brian Kelly. It’ll be interesting how things play out.
Loy's CB article on Sneed Spoiler The 247Sports Crystal Ball is a tool recruiting analysts use to show exactly where a recruit might end up. On Tuesday, a new prediction went in regarding a big-time talent potentially landing with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. My latest pick has Hilton Head Island (S.C.) high school four-star linebacker Jaylen Sneed committing to Notre Dame. This would be a huge addition to the Fighting Irish football program. The 6-2, 215-pounder from the class of 2022 is fresh off a visit to South Bend to see Notre Dame for the first time. From what we’ve been able to gather, the staff has played this one well to this point. They did a really nice job of making it clear that they are likely going to have to turn away one or two talented linebackers this cycle and spots are filling up. They advised that if visiting is important to him before making a decision, Sneed might as well do it sooner rather than later, otherwise linebacker spots could be gone by the time comes for him to make a commitment. With that in mind, Sneed and his head football coach, BJ Payne, hit the road to check out Notre Dame. "It was great. It was amazing,” said Sneed following the visit to Notre Dame. “I got to see the whole campus. I got to walk from all the sides. It took me about an hour to walk across the whole campus, so that really made me feel good because it wasn't as big." The interest is real. This doesn’t look like some high coming off a visit to campus that will eventually fade away. As I’ve said before, if you ask those inside the Gug, the Notre Dame staff has felt confident for a while that it could eventually land Sneed simply from their multiple conversations over Zoom, FaceTime and the phone. The visit may have been the tipping point, as we’re confident that Notre Dame leads as of today. Now, this recruitment isn’t completely done by any stretch. There haven’t been any silent commitments made. Others are absolutely in play. Sneed wants to visit Oregon. He could head to Texas A&M and Oklahoma. He could return to South Carolina and Tennessee. The Notre Dame staff is going to have to dig in and continue battling. That said, whether it comes after his June official visit to South Bend or maybe even before, the pick is in and the Fighting Irish have become the team to beat for this outstanding defensive prospect. Defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman, recruiting coordinator and defensive line coach Mike Elston, along with a few others have done outstanding so far. 2COMMENTS According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Sneed listed as the No. 79 overall player in America, No. 5 outside linebacker nationally and No. 2 prospect in his home state of South Carolina from the 2022 class.]
Maybe I’m overreacting, but if Freeman recruits like this for 2 years and the defense is good - you can’t let him leave.
I think what is scary is the glimpse Freeman is giving into what truly elite recruiting looks like, and the pronounced difference it can make - even in a program that already was among the top programs in the country. Goes to show how critical each hire is and what we are currently competing against in the Alabama's, Ohio State's and Clemson's of the world.
It’s Kelly that has created the culture of not tirelessly selling. And it still exists on the offensive side of the ball. But it’s fun to finally have a real seller on the staff pushing people forward.
