People sure want nd’s coaches now. Damn
A promotion to OC at Louisville would be a nice promo for Taylor. Would suck for us but that'd be a big move for him.
Taylor getting that gig is a thing that we should want to happen. Coaches developing within our program and getting solid opportunities / upward mobility keeps a strong pipeline going. Considering all of the other movement on the staff this year, it’s not exactly ideal at the moment though obviously.
Elston taking a similar role at Michigan doesn’t fit that bill.
Joyner is the one you want.
There was a thought that Larry Johnson could retire a week or two ago (and hell maybe it's still possible). Joyner was going to be on line one if that had happened.
Taylor gone and B-Ball blowing their tourney chances in Blacksburg. Not the greatest evening
Wall St Mike just posted that Belk is the next DC. He’s usually pretty connected and doesn’t post BS
Taylor leaving isn't great, but it's a sign of a healthy program.
I like this.
whos wall st Mike? I know nothing of Belk but it appears he runs a 4 man front so I’m good
Interviewed a RB coach a little over a week ago.
And if you know about it, that means it's Alford.
Guy on 247. He posted about Freeman being done ahead of time as well.
Belk is Houston’s DC.
His defensive stats this past year were pretty good and he’s young.
Alford isn’t leaving, dawgs working on his pension
Didn't say he was leaving. Nor did Pelican. He said somebody interviewed at ND a week ago.
Alford wouldn’t even interview, nor does a dude of his accomplishments need to
Sounds like Washington, Joyner, and Stockton are the 3 DL candidates, per FootballScoop and Driskell.
Wouldn't be the first time.
dont pull a Kelly plz
Houston DC. They had one of the top Ds in the country this year.
Those national rankings posted above are crazy
He's basically the Marcus Freeman of 2021. Runs a similar scheme, as well. It's almost too perfect.
That would be awesome
Also from Valdosta, Georgia. Don’t hate a young Southeast recruiter.
Was also a GA at Bama under Saban
Really starting to worry about all the youth on the staff. Could be amazing could fail spectacularly.
Joyner is my choice. Good Coach. Got it. He's also from DFW in Texas and well respected there. Can help in recruiting in Texas hotbed
More likely to fail but if it works…
its college football- it’s about the Jimmy’s and the Joe’s not the X’s and O’s
go fucking recruit
Worked with cornerbacks at both Houston and Bama before taking the DC job at Houston. Was rumored to be a candidate for DBs coach at Georgia and Texas before getting promoted to DC. Got a raise from $500k to $1m this off-season, which is unprecedented money for a non-P5 coordinator.
Like repoocs said above, this is a Marcus Freeman style trajectory.
I have been saying belk for a while. I like it.
Bet we move on from our safeties coach
Idk if they’ll be any good, but it’s gonna be a cool af coaching staff who should be able to recruit at an elite level
He can coach LBs. They won't move on. Freeman loves him.
If they can adjust in game, I like where we’re headed. They showed they can game plan like crazy in the fiesta bowl. Let’s just finish
Pretty sure he’s also recruiting extremely well recently
Gonna be so amazing until we line up with 13 players on the opening kickoff against #Ohio State Buckeyes
Would be surprised, I thought he did a pretty good job this year especially after Hamilton went down. Wasn't perfect but seeing guys like Henderson step in and not completely shit the bed was encouraging
Belk is a grand slam, I'd be shocked if we pulled that off.
Can you imagine this staff coaching Shaun Crawford? Or them asking him to buy them Beer?
Stuckey and Belk both from southern Georgia
Yes he would. So im prepared not to get him. I already sold my soul in order to get Freeman the HC job, I have nothing left to offer.
Both from Valdosta, right?
Nvm Stuckey is from Warner Robins
From an article about Florida’s DC search…
