I’ve brought this up before, but wonder if ND would look at Deland McCollough at IU? Good track record and has two elite sons signed at IU for 2022 and 2023.
His name was on the highest paid list I found so it would take some cash, but, he’s an interesting name.
Sampson’s list from this morning Belk- Houston Golden- Bengals Gibson - NC State Parker- Iowa Lukabu- BC Mason- Auburn Rossi- Minny Parker leaving Iowa would be interesting, obviously that dudes resumes is sparkling but it’s padded because Iowa plays the shit B1G west and a joke non conf every year- possibly the worst collection of offenses in the country usually. I like Belk and Lukabu, would be fine with Golden. I believe Mason is a 3-4 guy so still not sure about that fit
That's a strong list. I'm still Team Belk, but there are some options, there. IF Mason is adaptable to a 1-gap scheme, the good thing about him would be the experience as DC at major programs and a few years as a HC. Would be a nice balance to the young staff.
ehh usually when it take awhile it’s because the kid had more interest or less interest than expected my guess he knew he could go to LSU all along but was hoping on Bama or Auburn and that interest didn’t come
This is my order. In all fairness I know zero little about Lukabu and Gibson. Parker seems like the opposite of Freeman. He's a 4-3 quarters guy who stays in base A LOT. Freeman has moving parts and blitzing from different launch points. Belk being young/energetic, stylisticly similar to Freeman is something I think is important but with youth is some inexperience and without Elston we look real young on that side. Mason to me is beneficial for reasons just beyond his defense. Former Hc at academic school in SEC so seeing the top football factories across from him while in thet predicament. Also was apart of elite defense at Stanford (ND type environment). He's not the best DC but his experiences maybe outweigh things if they are close
Not sure if it were brought up here, but if Belk is hired then O’Leary probably moves to coaching LB since Belks background is safeties.
Also lol, I turned on the basketball game and the team has done nothing but shit down their leg since. They are SOOOO bad against pressure.
He seemed to be the only one being aggressive, everybody was just chilling throwing lazy passes and waiting to catch. He at least attacked.
Hubb's body language when the lead got cut was poor. No energy and very lackadaisical. He has to be better as a leader - as does the team when things aren't going their way. They also need to learn how to break the press. That was bush league play there in the final minute.
Nothing feels worse than coming to this thread for the latest news only to find it was bumped by people talking ND basketball.
Slow news day. But according to Huffman on 247. Lowe the new WR offer from Ore seems to not be coming for visit and was Crystal balled to Oregon
Harbaugh would be dumb to complete a deal with UM right now. He prob is waiting for the teams that just got ousted from the playoffs to call.
Honestly with enough milk (whole, not that pansy skim milk) he could probably start at QB for the Colts.
The IG handle @recruits.cfb said Keeley is looking at a visit to Bama per Chad Simmons - is that looking likely?
Maybe they are waiting for Stuckey to actually make decisions on who he likes. Maybe they are trying to see what guys actually can make it in. But seems like been no news on portal WRs. Makes me wonder if they are going to move Watts back to O or JoJo. Maybe both?
Apparently my dad has had an II membership for 18 years and I was just told...Loy's latest: Spoiler The Notre Dame coaches are on the road recruiting this week. As always, Irish Illustrated brings you the latest stops for the Fighting Irish coaches. The group is going to be all over the country checking in on the top targets from the 2023 and 2024 classes. SLIDE1 of 11 HEAD COACH MARCUS FREEMAN According to sources, we’ve learned that the head man is expected to be in Nevada and Texas. He wrapped up his Monday in Arizona with an in-home visit with 2022 cornerback signee Benjamin Morrison and his family. On Tuesday, he makes his way to Las Vegas Bishop Gorman to check in on four-star class of 2023 commit Justyn Rhett and the rest of the top talent at the school. That program is always filled with prospects, so checking in with them is always a plus for recruiting down the road. We’re told he will also be in the Lone Star State at Denton (Texas) Guyer high school to touch base with four-star safety and class of 2023 Notre Dame commit Peyton Bowen, four-star quarterback Jackson Arnold, a top class of 2023 target, and 2023 four-star safety Ryan Yaites. Also in the area, look for him to swing by Ryan high school in Denton to check in on five-star linebacker Anthony Hill, one of the top overall players in the class of 2023. He’ll also swing by Allen (Texas) school to check in with five-star class of 2023 defensive lineman David Hicks, a top of the board target, and a few others within that program. Don’t be surprised if he or one of the other assistants check in with Melissa (Texas) class of 2024 standout Nigel Smith II, one of the nation’s best from that cycle. He, along with Tommy Rees and a few others, will be at Parish Episcopal School three-star running back Andrew Paul while in the Dallas area. They are recruiting the 2022 target hard and hoping to get him on campus for an official visit over the Jan. 29 weekend just before Signing Day. SLIDE2 of 11 OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR TOMMY REES According to sources, we’re told he’ll be in the Texas area as well, but he’s expected to stop by schools in Dallas and Austin. He’s expected at Westlake high school to touch base with class of 2023 four-star receiver Jaden Greathouse, who the Irish recently offered. He will also do area recruiting as well. While at Westlake, Rees will surely check in with four-star class of 2023 offensive guard TJ Shanahan, who holds a Notre Dame offer, and could see intriguing class of 2023 receiver Keaton Kubecka, who has been garnering more attention lately, as well as three-star 2023 edge Colton Vasek, who has seen his recruitment take off as of late. More important, he will also be at Denton (Texas) Guyer to see four-star quarterback Jackson Arnold. I was under the impression he couldn’t see him after visiting once, but that wasn’t accurate. They are also still in regular communication and the staff is hoping to have him back in South Bend for a visit in the near future. SLIDE3 of 11 CORNERBACKS COACH MIKE MICKENS According to sources, we’re told he’ll be joining Freeman on his travels throughout the week. So, look for him to touch base on the talented prospects from Las Vegas and Texas already listed above. SLIDE4 of 11 SAFETIES COACH CHRIS O'LEARY According to sources, we’ve learned that he’ll join Freeman and Mickens at Denton Guyer to check in on safeties Peyton Bowen and Ryan Yaites, as well as Jackson Arnold. It just shows how important that trio is to this coaching staff. Also in the area, look for him to swing by Ryan high school in Denton to check in on five-star linebacker Anthony Hill, one of the top overall players in the class of 2023. Look for O’Leary to check in with plenty of 2024 prospects as well. SLIDE5 of 11 TIGHT ENDS COACH JOHN MCNULTY According to sources, we believe he'll make his way to Perkasie (Pa.) Pennridge to touch base with class of 2023 offered linebacker Phil Picciotti. The Irish are one of his favorites at this point in his recruitment. In addition, we wouldn’t be surprised to see McNulty at Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph’s Prep to check in with class of 2023 four-star linebacker Josiah Trotter. McNulty will also get ahead with recruiting in the 2024 class and check in with prospects in the Keystone State as well. SLIDE6 of 11 OFFENSIVE ANALYST GUS RAGLAND According to sources, he’s expected to join Rees at Allen (Texas) high school to check in with four-star receiver Jaden Greathouse. He’s also expected to make his way to Temple (Texas) high school to check in with four-star two-way athlete Mikal Harrison-Pilot, a receiver and safety, who has over 40 offers to his name including one from the Irish. A top target for the Irish, Del Valle (Texas) high school four-star 2023 receiver Braylon James could also receive a visit from Rees or Ragland, so we’ll see if that occurs. SLIDE7 of 11 OFFENSIVE ANALYST TREVOR MENDELSON: According to sources, look for him to swing by Mount Pleasant (S.C.) Oceanside Collegiate Academy to check in with Top100 four-star class of 2023 offensive tackle Monroe Freeling. He’s been a top priority for the Irish staff for a long time and want to continue making a positive impact there. He’s also expected to swing through Dorchester (S.C.) Woodland high school to check in on class of 2024 offensive lineman Kam Pringle. Just based off size and his early offer list, this kid is expected to be a national, top-ranked prospect. The 6-6, 295-pounder is going to be a junior and already has Georgia, Duke, Florida State, South Carolina and Virginia Tech on his offer list. SLIDE8 of 11 DEFENSIVE ANALYST NICK LEZYNSKI According to sources, as reported on Monday, we expect him to swing by Marlin (Texas) high school to offer three-star linebacker Derion Gullette, a class of 2023 target. He’s a guy the staff is very high on, so that is expected to become official on Tuesday. In addition, he’s expected to pop over to Waco (Texas) Connally high school and check in with four-star running back Tre Wisner. He’s a Top247 prospect from the class of 2023, so keep an eye on another Irish offer there. Lezynski's also expected at Manor (Texas) high school to touch base with four-star class of 2023 edge Princewill Umanmielen. He has four offers to his name, but many others are coming. In addition, he’ll be at Shiner (Texas) high school, which is home to top Notre Dame receiver / safety target Dalton Brooks, one of the best athletes nationally. He absolutely could be a running back at the next level too. Brooks has been to Notre Dame and is showing plenty of interest in the Irish. SLIDE9 of 11 DEFENSIVE ANALYST MIKE MOON According to sources, the plan is for him to be on the Nevada and Texas run with with Marcus Freeman, Mike Mickens and Chris O'Leary. So, look for him to join them on their travels hitting many of the previously-mentioned prospects including the top defensive line targets they are after. SLIDE10 of 11 OFFENSIVE DIRECTOR OF RECRUITING DRE BROWN According to sources, I’m told he’s expected to check in with Dallas Parish Episcopal School three-star running back Andrew Paul while in the Dallas area. I believe head coach Marcus Freeman and offensive coordinator Tommy Rees are expected to join Brown for this visit, which would be huge. The 5-11, 220-pounder is a class of 2022 recruit that remains unsigned. Schools like Oregon, Michigan, Colorado, Clemson and others all remain in play. He just took an official visit to Michigan over the weekend. Notre Dame is working hard to get him in for an official later this month before National Signing Day in February. Tomorrow will be a big day. He's expected at Clemson this weekend. We'll see if Notre Dame can get him on campus over the weekend of Jan. 29. Last week, Lance Taylor was recruiting him to the Irish and the feeling was that he’d take the visit to South Bend. Taylor is now on the Louisville coaching staff. We’ll see if Brown (and if Freeman and Rees are there as well) can get this done. In addition, look for Brown to swing by Duncanville high school, which is home to class of 2023 three-star safety Deldrick Madison and three-star receiver Lontrell Turner. It’s also home to elite linebacker Colin Simmons and receiver Parker Livingstone, two of the more talented prospects in the 2024 class. SLIDE11 of 11 DEFENSIVE DIRECTOR OF RECRUITING CHAD BOWDEN 9COMMENTS According to sources, he is hesded to Florida to see a priority target from the 2023 class. Notre Dame loves Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater four-star running back Cedric Baxter Jr. and is hoping that a quick check in at school helps their chances at getting him to South Bend to at least give them a shot for his services.
They could also be waiting for spring. Some of our more notable transfers in came after spring ball. There will probably be more grad options following this semester.
Allen is gone if he has another bad year, so better to get your hands on him now before OSU brings him in as an analyst and gets the kids.
