lbP is back, offense should be a good bit better but the defense loses its "soul" in guys like winovich as well as gary
He is behind a walk on and the school/campus life was always gonna be a tough transition Lyght needs to earn his money on the trail this cycle. We may need 4 CBs in this class
this was posted by mike singer, he's the new guy helping out at B&G since the other guy left and he's actually been pretty good. I don't think he would post something like this unless he heard something was going to happen Loy has been vague about some good news coming soon as well so if you put 1 and 1 together, i think it's bothello and that would be HUGE...his film is off the charts from Singer: A source tells me that Notre Dame defensive line coach Mike Elston will be down in Hawaii on Thursday. Obviously, he will visit with drop end target Jordan Botelho, who officially visited this past weekend. The vibe here is that the Irish are in a strong, strong position with Botelho, and who knows where things could lead with Elston in town...
Luke Jones officially to Arkansas. Thanks for sending him back y’all. He’s not that good but he’s much better than the trash we have playing C right now (a walk on)
Our C snapped the ball over our 6’7 QB about half time time we were in shotgun and led the SEC in interior pressures allowed last season. Just trust me on this one. He’s not great, but he’s a much bigger upgrade than what we have. I just assumed he wasn’t great based on him being bypassed on y’alls depth chart
He could be good and ND fans wouldn't know it the depth chart is very daunting. ND returned 4 of 5 starters from the playoff team, the opening was at C. ND plugged its best OL into that gap who happened to be in Luke's class. Those projected 5 starters for 2019 will all return for again for 2020, most as 3 or 4 year starters. No playing time to speak of at ND on the OL and 4 more top 250 OL joined the team this spring as true freshmen. ND is fucking stacked on the OL for years and years to come. Jones could be good, we wouldn't know. Good luck to him at Arky, I'll look for him when we play here shortly
Thanks for the info. I obviously didn’t know shit about the depth chart situation at ND. He should be an immediate starter for us as soon as he’s eligible. We just landed our first good OL in the past 3 classes last week, and that’s not an exaggeration.
Greetings from the hospital fellas. Had a fusion surgery this morning. Planning on being back to full health in time for the football season so I can avoid having to redshirt during this tailgating season.
as the class stands now, i think we have 3 top 50 players in this class already - Botehlo (based on film, i'd put this guy in the top 25), Jordan Johnson (top 50 guy), and Michael Mayer (top 50) and a whole bunch of 4 stars outside the german who i think might have a higher ceiling than Ade but with a lower floor too Baker is 5* (don't care what any sites say) and Mills is a top 100 guy as well also sounds like we are very serious players for Clark Philips, a legit 5* guy Tyree visits in June and i still think we land him - legit 5* this is what a playoff appearance does for ND and BK has a staff full of recruiters
Prister's Film room Spoiler Impact player…Game changer…Offense wrecker…Bobby Bouchet? I kid, but only a little because as God is my witness, the first “player” that came to mind when watching 6-foot-3, 230-pound Jordan Botelho from St. Louis High School in Honolulu was the fictitious character played by Adam Sandler in the movie “Water Boy.” The notion literally made me laugh out loud. Remember that motor? Remember that unbridled determination to get to the quarterback? Now add a whole lot more strength, fundamentals and football discipline – as great as “he” was, Bobby Bouchet obviously lacked a few “traits” -- and you have 247Sports’ No. 34 player in the country. Listed as an inside linebacker and sometimes referred to as a standup outside linebacker, which is where he has been the most dangerous on the prep level, Botelho is coveted by Notre Dame as a drop end. That translates into a guy with the athleticism and skillset to fall back into coverage as well as the relentless attributes of an off-the-edge pass rusher. Botelho was one of a large contingent of prospects in South Bend for last weekend’s annual Blue-Gold Game. In addition to Notre Dame, he is considering Oregon, Washington, Cal, UCLA and USC. But the Irish are even more convinced after this past weekend that Botelho is an ideal fit for Notre Dame and the rush/drop end position. This is a man. His skillset is vast. He’s strong at the point of attack against size. He comes off blocks prepared to make a tackle. He’s very aggressive with his hands, which is a significant reason – in addition to his sheer power and motor – he won’t stay blocked. Botelho is an explosive tackler, and yet he’s fundamentally sound enough and well-schooled in the game to keep his outside shoulder free to prevent an offensive lineman from crossing his face. His feet aren’t just very good; they’re spectacular. His feet are so good that sometimes they barely touch the ground. His change of direction is outstanding. Botelho has exceptional body control. He can go from fast, to probing, to fast again as he appraises the movement of the offensive player. He goes from pursuit to contact in a blur of reaction. And yet he stays square and balanced while playing aggressively. Despite his extreme aggression, he doesn’t lunge. He waits until the most opportune time to launch into the ball carrier. Currently, there are two crystal balls favoring Washington, including one by 247Sports Mountain Regional Recruiting Analyst Blair Angulo. One crystal ball – cast by Irish Illustrated’s Tom Loy – favors the Irish. Some believe Oregon, not Washington, is Notre Dame’s most significant competition for Botelho. Notre Dame’s greatest asset in Botelho’s recruiting process is recruiting coordinator Brian Polian, who played a significant role in coercing Manti Te’o to come to Notre Dame from the Hawaiian Islands during his first stint with Notre Dame under Charlie Weis. Defensive coordinator Clark Lea also is a key figure in the pursuit of Botelho. For me, this feels like a Manti Te’o-like get for the Irish. For me, Botelho is the second most significant prospect on Notre Dame’s defensive recruiting list right behind defensive end Braiden McGregor. Everything starts up front defensively, and if you added defensive tackle Rylie Mills into the equation with nose tackle Aidan Keanaaina, McGregor and Botelho, that’s a championship-level front upon which to build a defense. That’s not a far-fetched possibility for the Irish. i think botehlo is more explosive than Mcgregor but doesn't have Mcgregor's length. I know they don't play the same position but it would be sooooo nice if we can land Mcgregor even though it's looking more and more like he's going to mich as of now
Regarding Phillips, this was just posted today by a mod on ISD Spoiler Notre Dame received some jarring news on Wednesday when Jalen Kimber announced his commitment to Georgia. The 2020 Texas cornerback was in South Bend earlier this month and all signs pointed to a return for an official visit soon with the Irish seeming to be in as strong a position as anybody to reel him in. Now, he's off to Athens, leaving a sizeable hole on Notre Dame's Target List at the position. Fortunately for the Irish, they do remain in the hunt for other cornerbacks, especially California's Clark Phillips. The La Habra High School standout was in the Midwest late last month to check out Notre Dame and Ohio State. Irish Sports Daily has been told Phillips is "still buzzing" about both trips almost three weeks later. Back in February, Phillips released a Top 12 that included both Midwestern powers along with several other national schools. Phillips is remaining open to other programs as well, but it's been made clear to ISD that the Irish and the Buckeyes are out in front. Todd Lyght is a major reason for Notre Dame's current position. As we've reported before, the Irish defensive backs coach began forming a meaningful relationship with Phillips and his family long before extending an offer in September. We're told Lyght "got a jump" on the competition and made the most of it. Lyght's background as an All-American with the Irish and as a successful pro has also made a major impact. "That's special," we were told. "You don't get that everywhere." While Phillips is the kind of kid who takes coaching well and will listen to anybody, it's just natural for kids to "perk up" a bit when it's coming from somebody with Lyght's resum. Additionally, we're told Phillips views the combination of academics and athletics as "unique," while seeing the potential to get on the field early in South Bend. Phillips will now look to get official visits locked in soon with the plan to "definitely" have a decision before the start of the season. This one isn't over yet, but Notre Dame seems to have an edge over the Buckeyes and everybody else at the moment
Nd needs another 10-11 win season, and these kids will come. Can’t hit on all of them but if tyree or mcgregor pull the trigger for Nd or another team I won’t feel secure or out of it depending on how the team looks next year. Really really want tyree though, will be tough.
Pretty much every player we get from Hawaii outplays their recruiting profile. Or at least with Teo it could be said achieved the highest range of expectations. If he is a 105 ranked player, based on history he will play like a 5*
He’s #34 in the 247 rankings which hold more weight imo because they were recently updated. All of the other rankings are out of date and 247 has pretty much taken all of the best evaluators in the industry from their competitors
Remember when there were all these positions that ND couldn't recruit? Our DL recruiting, especially with the monster asshole German as a wildcard, is insane. To say nothing of the fact we currently have a stable of DE's that is Holtz era RBs level.
This is why I think it’s complete bullshit when someone blames institutional issues for recruiting woes. It can be done if the staff does a good enough job of figuring it out.
Worth noting that this kid just committed off of his official visit last weekend. Doubtful he would have made it to ND this early in the cycle under the old rules when official visits weren't allowed until the season, and who knows which other west coast schools would have gotten to him first.
Pretty much every recent rule change has been in our favor, early ovs, early signing, grad transfer (basically let’s us load up shitty players academic schedule and get them out in 3 seasons), I think there was a change to assistant visits too which are huge given how important they are for us.
A lot of the rule changes were meant to help the PAC and Big Ten Seems like they are really helping ND
if our class goes as planned its gonna have a sweet ass ranking. The class ranking of a class with tyree, baker, hening, skoronski, christ, mills, simon and zinter (except tyree all guys ND is a solid leader for it appears) would already rank on par with last year with just 15 kids
