I've been bugging my brother to do the same trip. Spend Sunday on the Bourbon Trail, Monday in the city.
I'll be there. I've got a buddy that's a liquor rep so we might do a bunch of tours also. I really need this week to end the curse.
i think this is phenomenal...go all in to flip McMillan if they can (remember, they still have an OV to use) and if they can't, a class of Jordan, Xavier, and Brunelle is still a great class I watched Xavier's film today and i think he looks fantastic. I know he had a bad camp when Jordan Johnson was phenomenal, but i'd rather have a player with amazing film than an amazing camp. Just my two cents
Henning officially to Mich he's a high risk/high reward player...elite talent but legit injury concerns
Don't get me wrong - I really wanted Henning, especially since he is from Chicagoland. I just think that Michigan is a better fit for him, so good luck to the kid.
the white receiver with the tiny head committed. Feels like we went from Plan A to Plan C across the whole board in June.
It'll turn out to be a pretty good class as long as we can hold onto Johnson and Tyree. After those two, it's par for the course.
i am very happy and excited about the 2020 class and brunelle is just another piece. He doesn't have the highest ceiling but his floor is basically Finke. When Xavier announces, this will be the absolute best offensive class of the BK era. If we can flip McMillan, all the better but even w/o him, it's still an amazing class
I actually think we were just spoiled with how well we did in the front half of the class. We will finish 10/11/12
I don't disagree with the rest of your comments, but I will definitely predict that Brunelle has a worse ND career than Finke.
Exactly. Could have ended better but Henning was never coming and they still have a shot with McMillan. There's a good QB, their top choices at WR and RB and top two at TE and OL. The only real whiff is DB and they covered it with prospects. After last year's defensive haul, this year's offensive haul is a B+.
Eh a good dline haul is par for the course now but hardly a jelly class. Offensive skill is legit too.
i think the best offensive class will still be the 2013 class. But its gonna be up there still, but really only on the back of 3 guys. The last few recruits have all been of the adequate variety and we already have plenty of that. Its good to have enough adequate, but you need more difference makers and guys like Brunelle and the recent DBs dont win you championships
NDs best CB of the last decade was a 3*. Clemson's second best receiver for the last two titles was a walk on. FFS can you guys not?
and the guys who made the difference in the NCG wre 5 star freshmen. Im not saying ND is fucking up this class, just saying that I dont think were making up much ground edit: and at one point in this class it did look like we were
Clemson has like 7 5* and 12 top 100 players. Good luck with anyone not named Bama, OSU or UGA keeping up.
ow for sure its optimistic for ND to get there if not impossible. Just hope we can get closer so we are 1 or 2 bounces away instead of 4 or 5
Didn’t Clemson win In 2016 with three three stars and a two as dbs? Just keep winning and recruiting will gradually improve
agreed, let's not pretend like Clemson in 2016 was the recruiting juggernaut it is now...those coaches found guys with talent and high ceilings, coached them up and used a couple of 5* (Deshaun Watson in particular) guys to push them over the top once you get to the top, it's much easier to laugh at everyone else's recruiting classes ND is winning now and starting to bring in 5* level talent to help bring them back to the top, but until ND wins it all, we will never recruit like Clemson and Bama simply because we can't take all the guys that go to those schools.
Honestly, roster management and player development is just as important and we are doing both for the first time since scholarship limits
I do t know if it is the exception - I don’t have the energy to go back and look but the rule seems to be you hit elite recruiting when you win something with Georgia as the exception.
Even reading this discussion is fun. It's been ~14 years since we could talk about this stuff. '12 was fun but this feels way more sustainable. Now we are bitching about another Finke committing and not a scrub ass barely 3* DL who likely ends up at Grand Valley State.
Yeah, nobody starts by recruiting 5-10 five stars, you gotta hit on your scholarships, recruit like the world depends on it and coach them up. When they see success they come at a higher pace. Especially the guys who are almost nfl locks after 3 years
I don’t remember where I read it recently but Kelly said his first year his support staff was 17 or 18. Just hit 59 today with a new analyst
That was my point. Clemson's first title under Dabo was so much lower than Bama, but they maximized. ND can't recruit overall like that but they can't miss as much as they did in the past. This past year Lawrence was too 3 Ross was top 10 and they had a sick DL. ND can replicate a lot of that but not with top 10 recruits day one.
Having a Heisman candidate at QB would go a long way. Hit on a QB, we have a shot with the supporting cast. I kinda feel like that is what it is going to take.
Haven’t really even had much exposure to this guy, but he seems like a true douche and his voice intonations really irritate me for some reason.
I tried following him on twitter since someone on here said that he posts a cup of coffee when there's a silent commit, but I couldn't handle it. I unfollowed him after a day. Huge tool.
I will admit that the admission standards between ND and Clemson are different, but Clemson doesn't take players with character issues. I would venture to guess that a majority of the players Clemson has signed over the last four years would not only be takes for ND, but could pass admission standards.
More than likely, biggest issue is three years of a foreign language. That is usually the biggest difference between what cruits can and cannot get a true ND offer
That plus calculus. All that said, I actually agree wholeheartedly with hawk217. Dabo has done a wonderful job at recognizing seemingly high character kids despite recruiting at an elite level.
this guy loves to stand up on his desk and pound his chest yelling to the world that he was right about a recruit...sounds a lot like Coach D. Can definitely see why they get along so well
