EQ's compared Kelly to Belichick. That had to trigger so many 50+ year old ND fans and at least one administrative intern.
Lol, but that’s not exactly what he said. He compared Nd with the patriots. I was getting hard at the way he talked about how they recruit. But the on field produçt has to get better. It’s almost disheartening to know that they are great recruiters but recruits don’t follow because of whatever (distance, academics, losing) With Kelly it seems like the other shoe always falls, makes me fucking mad. This team this year would have been great If the passing game would’ve been just average for a Kelly team.
Ok i am now fucking mad... 2015 with a good dc and Nd is in the playoffs and competing. That was a huge mistake by Kelly. Fuck A program changing mistake
ND doesn’t beat Clemson even with a different DC ND does not make the playoffs if they beat Stanford Hot take but they would’ve been #5
I disagree, but we will never know. Van gorder made some aweful call in the clemson game. Not close to how bad he was against Stanford though...but like you said the Stanford game was irrelevant at that point
My path to getting better is more just going over the top bloating the "staff". Like every coach that gets fired with offset language in their buyout should be hired to watch film on opponents and recruits.
Recruiting Amon ra is a tough situation but I hope the coaching staff showed what jurkovec can do, Amon ra would get an elite qb soon enough if wimbush is not the answer
Elko's rover position is the perfect fit for Tranquill's skill set. He's not fluid enough to be a safety and he's too small to be a linebacker.
He's probably a 6th or 7th rounder at best in the draft. The only reason why he would go pro is if he just decided he didn't want to play another down for free and see where it goes. Otherwise he can get a masters degree for free.
Loving the tranquil news. I would never blame him for going, but some guys Love college and fit better in CFB. Good for him
Any decision Tranquil made would have been a good one. It’s not like he’s a 2nd round pick or anything. In all likelihood he will earn more money from his graduate degree than he will from playing football.
This came up on the II podcast this week. They said he was planning to leave as of a month or so ago, but then hinted that Mack might have more academic issues which would open the door for him to stay.
Yeah I was wondering why no one was talking about him leaving. I doubt he gets a first or second round grade, but he still seems like a risk to leave.
Let me just say that Tranquil returning for a fifth year is pretty huge for the defense. He'll be a strong presence in the locker room and will be able to back it up on the field. That's like a 5 star recruit signing from my perspective. Immediate and significant impact. Let's hope we keep Coney.
Hopefully Tillery and Coney return, defense should be pretty damn good if they come back Top 30 for sure
I thought Tillery and Coney had great years, but I'm super out of the loop on them going pro? Aren't they like 3rd to 6th rounders maybe? Why go pro if you're a 4th rounder when someone like Coney could fight into the 2nd round and be a captain next year? And I've resigned to the fact ESB will go pro, but man he looks like a 3rd rounder too.
