we're still likely falling to 3-6 in the ACC and heading towards a lost season, but at least harvey won't be recovering from a torn acl this offseason.
@ Clemson - L vs. VT - W @ Duke - L @ NC State - W vs. BC - W vs. FSU - W @ UNC - L @ BC - L vs. Miami - L @ Wake - W vs. Pitt - W @ UVa - L Think that's fairly reasonable and gets us to 9-9 in the ACC. Wake Forest got into the tourney last year at 19-13 (9-9) - which would be our exact record - and didn't have a big OOC win and their best player being hurt most of the year. I'm not giving up hope unless we slide to 3-7, then it seems unreasonable.
Spoiler I know there have still been some questions out there regarding CJ Holmes' status moving forward. I posted on this a couple of times in our initial story thread yesterday, but I know it can get buried with the news of the day. As I said immediately after the news became public, the current plan is for Holmes to remain at Notre Dame this semester and focus on his academics and staying in shape. I do not believe the door has been completely shut on a potential return if Holmes takes care of his business in the classroom and within the ND community. But I want to again stress this is NOT a case where he's been told, "Do X, Y and Z and you're back on the team." Shoot, this isn't even a case where he's been specifically told, "Do X, Y and Z and you'll have a chance be back on the team." This is a case where there have been some hints dropped about the possibility of having a discussion about it down the road. This stuff, I know. This I'm speculating on: It seems like ND could purposely not be giving him an expressed path back to see how he handles himself the next few months without a carrot being waved in front of him. As I said yesterday, Holmes did a lot of reflection the last few weeks. I wouldn't be stunned if ND was trying to gauge the result of that reflection. But I don't believe ND is counting on Holmes returning at this point. Shoot, I'm not even sure Holmes would want to be back on the team at this point. That's not to say he doesn't want back on the team or that he's disgruntled by the recent news, but there are a lot of variables here. It wouldn't be surprising to me in the least to see Holmes do what he needs to do off the field this semester and still have both sides mutually decide it'd be best for him to transfer. Any suggestion that he's been given a path to be back on the team is inaccurate. Again, this I know. Also, and I want to make this as clear as anything, any suggestion that Holmes isn't the type of kid ND should be recruiting couldn't be further from the truth. He made a mistake - some mistakes to be really honest - and he lost his way a little bit, no doubt. But anyone claiming he's some sort of thug doesn't know a thing about his background. And anyone trying to play it in the middle by questioning whether he was ready to acclimate to ND culturally doesn't know a thing about his background either. He fit in just fine for years at Cheshire Academy, a boarding school with a tuition not that much less than Notre Dame's.
They were good high school football players that were awarded full scholarships to Notre Dame, a university with an athletic deal with Under Armor. Unfortunately, the addiction to have Nautica and Northface apparal was too much to overcome and decided to throw it all away by committing petty theft. They will go on to play football and have successful careers in the SEC.
Allen Greene, ND baseball class of 99, was hired as the Auburn athletic director tonight (joining a really long list of ND grads currently serving as athletic directors). Whenever Jack decides to call it a day, we will start with a pretty good pool to choose from within the family.
Crazy to me how slow the moves at S coach has been and how little we've heard about OL. A lot of recruiting news. The grad transfer from rice (OL) is interesting. 2 new offers. RB from Georgia. He runs real physical. Not a smooth athlete a little jerky but runs really hard and quick downhill. DE offer. Also seem to be interested in a DR from Texas.
On the DB coach, sounds like their top target is DeWayne Walker, Cleveland Browns DB coach. He’d be a homerun hire. Lea coached under him at UCLA when Walker was a DC there, so they have some history
Last year didn't BK name 7 starters pretty quick. Wondering if he will be naming starters soon. I'd go with Mustipher, Bars, Tillery, Coney, Tranquil and Love
by the way. my guesses for captain: Sam Mustipher, Jerry Tillery (maybe Jay Hayes), Drue Tranquill & Julian Love
I always think it’s bad when you don’t have a QB as a captain. Also I could see Coney being told he will be a captain if he comes back.
for sure i agree with both. I think we would need 1 more captain on offense anyways and with adams not coming back (although he has a week or 2 to change his mind iirc) the QB should be that guy. I cant imagine there will not be some qb competition though
Fun fact: none of BKs ND teams have had a QB as captain. Don’t see that changing this year either. For all the criticism BK gets (mostly fair), if the QB position wasn’t a complete disaster for his entire tenure, he’d leave ND with a statue.
The QB position is his own fault, especially considering he spends more time with them than any other position group.
I would have loved to see Clausen gun it up and down the field with Kelly in his first year. How bad do you have to be on defense to get fired with Clausen, Tate, Floyd, Kyle Rudolph, Armando Allen, Theo Riddick, Jonas Gray.
I could not agree more, and we are at least 2 QBs beyond that even being a debate. I'm also on board with this. Clausen throwing to Tate in the dink and dunk offense he tried to run in 2010 would have been fun.
That’s legit exciting. My closest family friends have a son who was a best friend growing up that lives in Charlotte now. He’s having a baby next month. This makes life so easy.
Women's basketball, whatever, but ND came back from 23 down to beat Tennessee by 14 tonight. That's pretty crazy
Brenden Lenzy is at Polynesian bowl in Hawaii as well as Paul Moala and Jayson Amedola. Apparently Lenzy has looked good. Had an incredible catch today. Not much on Moala and Amedola who i don't know if he's practicing (didn't the first day). Game is Saturday on ESPN3 I guess. I won't be watching it but thought I'd post that since were talking about woman's basketball in here. Come on BK hire some coaches already.
BK has probably made his picks. Unless they are internal, all coaching announcements are delayed until they get through the HR red tape. ND's done it that way since By George, it's O'Leary.
Currently sitting down to a delicious meal from fat Cap smoked meats. Get there early if you go, they ran out of brisket around 1 yesterday (although they're looking to increase amount of food starting today)
Was just reading their FB feed. Looks good. Hopefully they can sustain at the new location, and keep up with demand and supply. I know the product is good. It's the closest BBQ joint to me now that Trotter's in Niles bit the dust.
Roseland will be nice someday. It's nice that the University is doing that development right off the toll road exit. Should revitalize that area and to the north into Roseland.
It is, Having a corridor to and from Michigan that has "stuff" will be cool. A mini Eddy Street if you will.
South Bend needs to focus on approach to downtown from the airport. It is the worst part of the city and yet it is the first impression that visitors get when they come by air, bus, or train.
real talk. It's just such an odd landscape. "rural" to downtown in an intersection. I'd love to see Beacon bowl get taken down, throw in something more like the southside, then rehab what you can between the Kreamo factory, the silver castle (or whatever it's called) and "work" to a downtown feeling about Gene's.
I always take that way in when I go to games. When brought my FIL to a game this year he was less than impressed with South Bend. I was like "Uhh, there are other parts of South Bend that are nicer."
In Polish, Bobak or Bobák is a surname, derived from the Slavic word bob, meaning "bean" or "broad bean".
