I've always assumed ND should be able to just throw a rock and land as many low-mid ranked three stars as they want. This month will test my theory. The problem is that those kids tend to not transfer if they turn out to be scrubs, so its a 4 year scholarship risk.
You would think that throwing a free masters degree and the publicity that comes with playing at ND should be attractive to graduate transfers.

And to come back to your earlier theory, for some of them getting into Nd is their Super Bowl and football is just not that important to them after that. They know they will get a degree with a full ride and the nfl was never really an option. They will just be happy with it and move on. Deon walker is an example.
Meanwhile at bama, most players are desperate for football glory or an NFL paycheck because it's their only way out.

Wtf is wrong with Nd fans? Try comparing apples to apples and not apples to oranges. ND football at one time was top 3 most historical programs of all time. When they have a dynamic coach they will recruit top 5 talent. Killy did find fools gold in 2012 with Weis players but he proved it was exactly that, fools gold. Comparing ND football to ND hoops is as pathetic as comparing ND football to MSU football Granted both MSU football and hoops have exceeded ND football but that is only because of coaching ND hires a great coach, they will recruit at a elite level again and compete for Nattys again. Yes, ND needs a special coach but it can and will happen again once ND fans start demanding and expecting more, instead of making excuses
