Really? I know it's an unrealistic fun hypothetical, but why not? Overrated and overhyped because of his name doesn't mean he's not still pretty damned good. And I think while he may not live up to the hype, his bust potential is actually pretty low. The Mannings aren't ever really questioned for their work ethic, leadership or football IQ.
Hey, at least you own it. I just look at his situation and see the pendulum swinging the opposite direction in some eyes to overcompensate for the hype. There's something there to his game. It's not just the name. Top overall? No. But he's still worthy of a ride at a strong P5 program. Or Texas.

Played with the class calculator a bit just now: Worst Case: No QB of note, add players expected to add (Hanafin, Ausberry, Minich, and Edwards), lose Keon and Bowen, add random Edge and Safety- 280ish Best Case- hold the fort, add players expected to add, add qb (Minchey)- 298ish Class range probably from #8 to #4- think we will be OK no matter what. I don't view Love or Mbemba as going to end up in the class since they are bag hunting. Khalil Tate is who I'd imagine they would target if Bowen left so I used him as my replacement. I believe ND would find a 4 star edge in the top 300 range if Keon left as I have a lot of faith in Washington as a recruiter so I used a random 4 star edge. A #8 class just keeps ND competitive and in the 10 win type range, really need that best case scenario as the 24 schedule breaks really well for ND on paper.
I think Loy actually lost a little bit of goodwill with how he handled the Dante story. Even the great TJ34 has thrown a little shade. It’s pretty fun.
