The chud is taking over and he’s trying to be a guy talking about young kids who hates that these guys are making money off their name. I’ll say it again, these people are bottom feeders and he’s one of the worst.

Deuce Knight has to sit out two more games, and then he can play the rest of the year. Mississippi apparently had some decent transfer rules.

Not sure if the beat know something or is just guessing but seems like we are portaling for next year at qb as well. I wonder who. Maybe we can convince Pratt with how much money Hartman is making.

The conversation on that flipped immensely the last few weeks.

Putting this offensive talent in the hands of someone like Angelli, Minchey, or Carr next year would be a waste of momentum. Hit the portal again and make ND a true destination for QBs going forward. If a kid transfers, so be it. Replace him with someone better.

Minchey and Carr can both wait a season.

Feels like a vote of no-confidence in Angeli, which is fine and makes sense. After next year we're looking at a competition between Minchey and Carr.

Yeah, Pratt or Riley Leonard seem to be the most appealing names at this point. Both are better NFL prospects than Hartman though, so not sure how likely they are to stay in college.

Pratt and Hartman were who I wanted last off-season. Getting both would be great.

And for the Pete Sampson’s of the world who claim “QbS lIkE SaM hArTmAn DoNt HiT tHe PoRtAl EvErY yEaR”, they absolutely do. Every single year there are 3-5 very, very good portal QBs.

Caleb Williams (and all the Transfer QBs Riley turned into Heisman winners), Bo Nix, Sam Hartman, Michael Penix, Justin Fields, etc. Literally every year there’s some solid talent available.

It's hard to know if they hit every year because we're only two years in to the new portal era and the Covid classes moving out will have some impact. Not to mention the most successful transfers had some other influence such as Penix and Caleb following coaches, and Hartman needing a year in a more traditional offense.

Still, the upcoming QB draft class looks very strong at the moment, so there's an argument to be made for getting paid while building draft stock.

Pratt and Leonard are the big two, though Leonard worries me a little as a true passer. Then again, at this point last year Hartman was adamant that he was done with college after the season, so there could be some not as obvious but exciting options out there, as well.

Fair point about there being a new normal with the transfer rules. But I’d imagine the new rules only push more talented players to the Portal, and not fewer.

As long as we’re promoting our NIL game well, we should be seen as one of a handful of top schools for a transfer QB at this point. And not all of those will have the need each off-season.

They have a pretty young but talented room. Will be interesting to see if they Portal this year or not. Knowing Rees, he’ll make the wrong decision either way.

Caleb Williams mentioned potentially coming back next year, but I just don’t see it. They also have some young talent in their room but Riley is pretty ruthless with just wanting the best kid available every year.

Ohio State and Georgia are both breaking in new but likely long-term starters. Michigan?

Most are pretty much a warm glass of milk, offering nothing beyond the obvious, but I'm a glutton for the content at the moment.

Hit and Hustle with Greg (sniff) Flammang and Jamie U is quickly moving to the top of my list. They offer the Xs and Os without the pretentiousness of D3 and are actually developing a nice rhythm to their shows.

It's an interesting exercise. You could make a case for any of them. Riley is ruthless, but his young guys should be pretty good and he's shown that he's not afraid to roll with them.

I think it's way too early on OSU, but if McCord doesn't develop fast enough, I could see it. Beck may not be "it" at UGA. Michigan is interesting. It just doesn't seem to be a Harbaugh thing to do, but he's surprised us before.

Oregon could be in the market again, and they'd be willing to pay up. Florida St. is another that comes to mind. They finally have the roster looking better, but I'm not sure the guys behind Travis are the answer to continue the momentum.

The one major benefit we offer for transfer QBs is the grad school benefit for the kids unsure of their NFL future (which are generally the kids available). Our lacrosse team has made a killing lately of plucking the best Ivy League kids who can’t play a 5th year at their current school, mostly because the ND grad degree makes their resume even more impressive.

Hartman is obviously the perfect example here. Go find the kid who is a wonderful college QB but is probably getting a late round NFL grade. Pitch them on NIL and the Notre Dame degree for when they inevitably don’t have football anymore. Will it land us the Caleb Williams’ of the world? No, but for the right kids it’s a huge differentiator versus a lot of the other schools listed. Jack Coan should be the floor.

Interestingly, though, Hartman is unique in that he isn't pursuing a post grad degree. He may actually already have one. I forget where it was reported, but he's basically taking what he needs to be eligible to play at ND. If this is true, it's actually encouraging that the school will make that business decision when it comes to grad transfers.

There’s way less emphasis on graduation rates for grad students. And I’m sure Hartman has the open door to ever come back to finish one up if/when he ever wants to.

I honestly hope he goes mid level P5 or strong G5 and gets a real chance if he leaves. He's a likeable guy who has more upside as a passer than the likes of Drew Pyne. I think he could lead a team to a good season, just probably not a national championship type season.

Had he gone to a Duke or Tulane and played from early on, he might have had the chance to develop to the point of eventually trading up.

I could actually see more low fours/high threes doing that more often when early playing time is available elsewhere versus sitting on the bench of a top program, then moving up if they prove worthy.

Their whole thing is kind of an enigma, the DL is supposed to be great yet they have 6 sacks across 3 games against dogshit teams. The stats don’t seem to back up the narrative in several places.

100% this and we beat Marshall and Stanford and going into USC undefeated...the whole mindset of the team would have been different the entire year

Foskey/the Twins would have been completely bought in. A QB like Hartman makes all the difference
