So ND brought in a transfer DT from Harvard that took snaps away from Lacey while providing nothing so far and now we lost our starting DT for next year? Transfer portal rules
It's not a given that Lacey would start next year, and I'm guessing the staff was honest with what he was up against. NT will probably still be Cross/Aiden K. and Rubio can play there. Rubio could also potentially start at 3T, which wouldn't surprise me based on the UNC game. They also supposedly really like Ford and Onye at 3T, and both are closer to the physical profile that they seem to be recruiting to now. Not to mention, Mills probably returns and they seem to live kicking him inside on passing downs. So yeah, Lacy would have played more, but wasn't a given to start and no matter where he was on the depth chart, he was going to have to scrap for snaps. I don't love it. I like the kid and think he's a good player. It impacts interior depth this year, but it could be a chance to get Onye/Ford some opportunities as both have more long term potential. Meanwhile, Lacey should have his degree and by redhirting he should have two years left with Covid and he avoids injury. He's good enough to start full time at a lower P5 or decent G5 program. Where here, even with a bigger role, he was going to have to scrap among a relatively talented and deep IDL.
Damn really sucks to see him go. Met him & his dad once and they were both super nice so hope he ends up finding success wherever he lands.
NIL def paying these kids to go to vegas - their parents are thrilled As ISD’s Matt Freeman reported last week, wide receiver commits Rico Flores Jr., Braylon James and Jaden Greathouse (pictured above) are all expected to be in attendance along with running back commit Jayden Limar, tight end Cooper Flanagan, offensive lineman Joe Otting, linebacker Drayk Bowen and 2024 wide receiver commit Cam Williams.
Has anybody ever bought from fightingirishshop.com? If so, was it legit? I want to get my kid a Mayer Shamrock Series jersey for his 18th, but that's the only site I'm seeing that claims to have men's Shamrock Series in stock.
First I was thinking, Would it be possible to put greathouse in the Thomas uniform and put Thomas up in the stands? then I realized that rees would not play him anyway
Hate to say it, but on that play where Ryan scrambled back for 18 yards and got sacked - Q got steamrolled on his ass. It helps that he recovered the fumble. Is he not healthy?
En route to Vegas. Tons of ND fans. More friends than I expected coming in from all over too. Should be a very strong Irish showing. Eleven-yo!
One of the issues we have and you clearly are starting to see Freeman/Wash try to correct is undersized interior DL. For as good of players Ademiola and cross are they are undersized and so Is Lacey. The reason Lacey is transferring isn't as much Smith is it is getting passed up by Rubio too.
I saw Lacey's whole family in a pizza shop near German Village in Columbus after the OSU game. They all looked disappointed obviously but were decked out head to toe in ND stuff and pretty much everyone had "LACEY 54" jerseys. Seemed all in to me. Wonder if the Cal game got to his head a bit with confidence; thought he'd play a lot next year (and get an ND degree) and not sure he'll ever be an NFL guy no matter where he's playing
He wants a shot and may feel like 2 more years in a starting role gets him a shot. He will have his degree after this semester I think
Sometimes it might be as easy as going to play a year back home where you want to ultimately live and line up their life if the pros don't happen. Like ND is great and all, but I can totally see not being all about a 5th year there. Hell, in terms of master's degree, they aren't even that far out front of other big state schools if the wish is to stick around local.
I don’t think BYU is very good and if we play well at all we will beat them comfortably. Kind of a weird game honestly.
They soft but their QB will give ND fits. ND should wear them out physically. Minimum turnovers and ND wins by ten.
They looked soft as baby shit when I watched them. They’re dirty and over aggressive but they were consistently taking punches in the mouth and retreating until after the play.
honestly if you told me we'd be 3-2 and played OSU close before the season I think i would have been kinda okay with that result. Winning BYU and UNC back2back would really be a solid bounceback and maybe not result in a top25 spot, but id be shocked if we didnt at least get some votes.
The playbook doesn’t actually open until the hole is five and a half feet deep. Glad Tommy inherited that trait too.
Texas just had an awesome boot screen play. Super cool play call but extremely risky! Would likely be wonderful with our OL.
