Spoiler Detroit (Mich.) King five-star quarterback Dante Moore is the No. 5 overall player in the country from the class of 2023. The 6-2, 195-pounder is coveted by every major program in the country, but there are only a handful of true contenders down the stretch. Here is the latest intel on Notre Dame and the top target. This weekend, I touched base with multiple sources to find out the latest on Moore. In an attempt to cut to the chase, every single source I spoke with still believes Notre Dame is the team to beat. That part truly didn’t come as much of a surprise based on what I’ve been hearing for months. I’m told Notre Dame’s Tommy Reescontinues to have regular, positive dialogue with Moore and the conversations have gone well. I’m told people close to Moore and those on his high school staff at King are very much on board with a future in South Bend if he chooses the Fighting Irish. “Everyone loves Marcus and Tommy, I can assure you of that,” said a source referencing head coach Marcus Freemanand Rees, Notre Dame’s offensive coordinator. Moving across to another contender, one source connected at LSU doesn’t see Moore picking the Tigers when all is said and done. In fact, my source there believes they are 3rd or 4th in this race. That source feels as though Oregon and Miami are in much better shape than LSU at this point. However, that same source also believes Notre Dame is going to be tough to beat, which has been the case for a while. In checking with a source at Oregon, his feeling is that Moore isn’t leaning toward the Ducks and yes, is still likely leaning toward the Fighting Irish. “It’s closer than it once was, but I still think it’s ND,” said a source. 47COMMENTS Lastly, I checked in with one source at Michigan just to see where he thinks this one stands and he also believes ND is on top. They are hoping for a game-changing visit or two at some point, but they do believe they are trailing the Irish at this point. Look, nothing has changed regarding my stance and in fact, Notre Dame’s stance. The feeling remains that Notre Dame will land Moore when it comes time for him to make a decision. Regarding a trip to South Bend, we’ve said for a while that the plan is for him to get on campus in June. At this point, the 10th is not happening because of 7-on-7 obligations, so they are looking at the 17th. Nothing is 100% locked in yet, but we’ll see if Moore shows up that weekend
We have a scholarship problem. We are probably going to add at least 3 in the portal if his other son comes. Coach d has been saying that the staff sort of hoped people would leave and then no one did. One of the things I was a little worried about with freeman. We are gonna see some walk ons lose their scholly and a medical or two I bet
They’ll figure it out. And we’re also couple of years away from scholarship limits being a thing of the past anyway
think this has been discussed at least for a while now no? 17 year old kid is moving with his parents
SJ went 0-5 in the conference last year. Penn is playing Cathedral and St. Xavier this season, he’ll play Lakeland and Glenn. C’mon, kid.
I’m a little disappointed he’s not going to Edwardsburg, a legit 4* kid in that league would be must watch stuff. So many hillbilly kids named Colin.
The fall has been wild considering it hasn’t coincided with a decline in any other sports - rugby is a top program, baseball top program, wrestling a top program, basketball program has drastically improved. I hear there’s a lot more specialization going on, kids playing one sport year round with travel teams and such.
that sucks, 6A needs Penn to be good because it’s super boring having some Indy team crush some other Indy school or Merriville/Valpo every Nov.
In todays update of coaches on the road Brian Mason gets shipped to Hawaii lol that dude just keeps getting fucked
