Greathouse is a stud. But they threw away from Bowen. They did get Greathouse matched up on Ryan Yaites the LSU DB commit and he torched him
Do they really? It's either join the B1G and play the schedule you actually want to play, keep piddling around making no money with the ACC schools, or join the SEC and play a majority of your football in the Southeast.
I'm surprised to hear and read pat forde mention that he would not be surprised to see ND deemphasize athletics and join a conference with Duke, Stanford, etc.... I feel like a crazy person hearing that. Why would they? It's not like joining the big ten suddenly makes them an athletics at all costs fuck them students school. I don't understand his angle
How many big NBC games does ND play a year currently? 1-2 at most? There's no way that TV deal will be as high.
It should probably be presented as "ND has every option" we have more realistic landing spots than ay other school because of the eyeballs that come along. I can't think of any other school that would get everyone to pump the brakes, even for a short time, to allow for a choice. Therefore yes, we currently have all the power.
It doesn't need to match, NBC is only part of the "independent" revenue stream, if it's even competitive we will stay indy, the school has determined that has value both monetary and not well beyond the fattest tv contract.
The Hamilton mention reminded me, if you guys get a chance, go see Six, it's phenomenal and not a traditional stuffy stage show, pretty much a themed rock/pop concert.
Jack has been saying stuff like we may split into academic and nil. Will be interesting - I think that only happens if the big falls apart after the whacked by the sec in the playoffs for 20 years
In one way ND holds all the cards because they have plenty of options at this time. In another I've been having this conversation with my dad that this is the moment you have all the options and you may get to dictate the terms. You keep waiting the terms may eventually be dictated to you. This or nothing and you lose some leverage. Interesting situation
Jack is going to earn that retirement. I'm happy this is happening now because he is still around, this getting dropped on ANY new AD would be a nightmare.
If we move it won't be alone. If Jack is in discussions with anyone it's ADs in the ACC and the PAC that might also make the move. If we lead a cadre of movers it's even more valuable.
Unless the acc announces the additions. Of Georgia and florida, there is only one move and you try to drag duke, bc, Clemson, Stanford and Oregon with you
It’s what jack swarbrick told him when he interviewed him in March or April. It was more about where NIL goes and if it became total pay for play/employees, ND might join Stanford and others and prioritize academics over athletics. I don’t think this is that time, but that’s where it’s coming from
I actually agree with him. The stuff is not good but I don’t have a massive reaction to it like some I’ve seen.
Please tell him to talk to Texas. Simultaneously announcing Texas and ND to create a truly national conference would be really fun message board fodder which is the most important thing.
It's probably time to re-evaluate the Freeman hire. If we aren't getting a 4* a day what are we even doing?
Damn, just commits we have today would have been the #8 class last year on 247 and that's before Gray, Flores, Hannefin, and Greathouse who are essentially silent, plus everyone else
It’s going to be like 13 top 100 guys and maybe 3 5 stars by the end (although I absolutely expect Bowen and keeley to be bought at the end).
If the guy who works with him and Proctor says he is better who am I, or some dummy from 247, to argue?
I don’t think he’s quite that good yet. I remember him looking a little stiff and heavy footed in his highlights.
Charles Jagusah was on IB. Couple of things. First off, he said ND wasn't even on his radar until Freeman got hired. When that happened ND started blowing him up. I know some haven't loved his film, he mentioned he broke his leg and rushed back for the season and said he wasn't himself. Expects to have a much more impressive film this year. Hiestand has been working with him via zoom to work on technique. Also he looks fucking huge.
no mention of what I taught him via Twitter during our daily conversations, alright I get it. I will talk to him about it tomorrow
Watching old games from 2005 with my dad while we grill. I have counted 8 targetings in one game. Wild how much it has changed
