im fascinated by that kid, because of 1 simple reason, he is called bear and one of his brothers is called tiger, which would make you feel like the other brother would be named wolf or something, but no, Hank. Does not make sense to me at all
id like that. I do feel its somewhat comforting that us losing Deuce cannot possibly hurt our WR class as it sucks currently
Watching post loss stuff probably isn’t fair but, man, the contrast between our beat guys and the dudes from Tamu/LSU is stark.
I feel even better about the team on rewatch. I lost it on this play, 10-15 yards was there and it was literally poor execution by everyone (why is it Harrison and Faison blocking, Poor snap, poor blocks, Love should have still gotten another couple yards) but we were scheming things like this all day that didn’t execute well. Offense played poor and still got it done
That referee was so unnecessary. Poor dude knew he was insignificant once freeman went past him and had his team’s attention
looks stupid if they lose but man does it look like he knows what the fuck he is doing when they win.
i never thought he looked stupid in any post game presser after a loss. To make a crazy compârison from something that I think you posted, Kelly’s post game press conference was a disaster compared to any freeman presser. Kelly who coached for 50 years according to himself so he knows it all
I just meant it would be a meme if we lost. People would be saying he doesn’t know how to motivate the team. Ra ra doesn’t work etc.
So not only do we get home field vs 12. The next game is against the 2nd lowest ranked conference champion - I.e could be like Syracuse if they win the acc.
Our offense - running QB, pounding RBs, strong TE game seems exactly what gave them fits the last two games too. Plus, I don't know what we're going to do to DJU if this is what these teams did to him In the transfer portal era too, big risk of mutiny at this point too. Kinda crazy, but we just need to take care of business until LA
For as much as we try to downplay the effect of inexperience on O, especially in Denbrock’s scheme, the experience on D is so incredibly important for Golden’s system
But but but it was the fact that Weigman had a fever and Collin Klein liked the backup more and Weigman should have subbed out and he missed an opener receiver and and No, it was the fact that ND has like 5 defenders who can be on NFL rosters this season and Golden has effectively shut down any team we've played in the last 2 years
I wouldn't be surprised if Michigan falls back a little, that was a rough game up until the red zone pick 6 midway through the 4th.
100%. There were a couple missed run fits, etc., but the overall execution by the young LB corps was impressive for the first game. We've seen the learning curve at LB hurt us in the past, but they looked ready overall. I think this boils down to a few things: 1. Kiser's experience and leadership can't be overstated. 2. Outside of KVA, they all have some time in the system, and I think the staff deserves credit for recruiting dudes who also have it mentally to pick things up. We've been lauding their evals lately. This is a prime example. Evaluation is just as important for finding the right blue chips as it is finding the projects who could become something. 3. Max Bullough has "it" as a position coach. He's another example of evaluation but for coaching potential and using that to build a deep bench for when turnover happens. This unit is deep, talented, and outside of Kiser, very young. Their upside is huge. What they learn this year is going to be very valuable next year with what will be lost at DL and DB.
Ausberry knifing through to make a play on a run shocked me, I fully expected him to be almost exclusively a drop guy. These dudes are good and fun to watch.
And Sneed didn't come up big in the stat line, but he disrupted a couple plays that turned into tackles for others. Unfortunately, his best play isn't being talked about much because A&M ultimately scored, but running down that play from behind right behind the line on the goalline was a thing of beauty.
Gray had a couple flash plays in the 2nd half..blew a dude the hell up on a leak out then was about a half step from a pick 6 on that 4th down play.
Speaking of OL, I love that the fist bump that started with mcglinchey and Quentin Nelson is still going strong
I only watched the game once and was quite sick this past week but on first glance Pendelton had some of the worst plays of the day and also was responsible for a lot of the best plays. Imagine the scales will tip towards good with more experience and not playing in front of 100k+ cult members. He got to the next level on one of the big runs and I was like 'I get why they went with him over the more established guys' because I never saw a block like that out of either Coogan or Spindler
You def saw why they like him. Freeman said at least one of the complete whiffs was based on the protection call that Riley was told to make that was wrong.
Your initial read seems to be correct. His problems were assignment-specific. That can be cleaned up, as well as better at adjusting during the play when assignments fail. But he physically looked the part. Knapp, on the other hand, seemed to have a clean game assignment wose to my untrained eye, but is going to need some improved technique and more strength to reach his potential. But again, you can see what they see.
lol imagine a game that mattered in the past with a true freshman and a rs freshman in the box at lb and it not going horribly.
And i honestly think the USC jump is fair. Havent seen the whole game, but to me it looked like USC was better than expected moreso than LSU being worse
