We were 4 point dogs starting Drew Pyne who never had a 32%+ WP at any point in the game and we've been acting the last couple days like it was a game where we blew the natty Love it
He’s starting to hate losing more than he enjoys winning. He seems relieved at the end of games instead of happy. Terrible for his mental health, but good for winning football games.
This worries me. What I love is that he was a big picture thinker, not a gym rat coach who obsesses over everything and becomes an ass and burns out. Hopefully his family can keep him at a place where he can be aggressive and still humble. Most coaches are horrible men and I hope he can balance that while being successful. He’d literally be the first.
I think its partly a 2024 thing. He realizes (like we all do) that this roster is very, very good (they've been acting like they've known that since spring ball) in a year there really is no dominant team in CFB (maybe you can make an argument for OSU, but they're much more gettable than like 2021 Georgia). The difference in next 20 days between losing to USC and going to the AmeriQuest Bowl presented by Kellogg's vs. Washington State, and beating USC and winning a home playoff game is legacy changing shit (plus probably 8 figures of net worth for Marcus if we're being honest). I think he will find some of the 'joy' again in future years, but isn't going to take a breath until they get back on the plane with a W in LA, because it turns NIU from a legacy defining loss, to a "oh yeah, that happened" game in a few months
Obviously I'd rather be the 6 seed, but I'd lock in this draw right now if I could. Not having to see Ohio State, Georgia or Oregon until the finals would be fantastic.
Our floor, yes. But the 1st round matchup could get less favorable with this seed based on how things shake out. SMU is pretty ideal but probably unrealistic.
There's nobody behind us that worries me in South Bend in late December. Especially since if Marcus has done one thing well, it's get his teams up for big games.
Our first round matchup in order of likelihood IMO: 1. SMU 2. Tennessee 3. Miami 4. Indiana 5. Clemson / South Carolina winner I think that's the field barring something shocking like PSU losing to Maryland and falling to 11 or something
Texas should be out of the playoffs if they lose on Saturday. Most likely you’re right but man, they have beaten no one this year
What a shitty draw for the #1 seed. Haha. Week 2 playing Georgia or Tennessee then probably Ohio St. after playing Ohio St most likely in the B1G championship. Make the ND path so much more attractive. Instead of OSU/Georgia/OSU you could play SMU/ Texas/ I’ll say PSU
The idea they look like they belong against a team with two lottery picks without Burton is a pleasant surprise. The fact there is still no sign of him without Sir already is a bad bad deal.
Yeah, I’d be shocked if that’s not a torn ACL. Feel awful for him and this program Not sure what he does from here, tough to go pro after that, tough to come back and prove you don’t have it next year
not according to the one penn state fan and osu fan. They are funny in that thread, their nd hatred is making them look silly
