Due to ND I have now sent and received my first across the pond text, I'd like to welcome Wicket to now having to deal with me having his number.
Wicket was part of the group text, no? So you probably popped your cherry in like 2014 If not, Interpol is happy to welcome you to its database :)
This is true, but, now I have his actual weird +.......... number. I'm going to start texting him at random when large white people in low countries should be sleeping. Seriously though, Wick has been awesome I did the minimal to help him and he has been incredibly gracious. I would say we should for all who can make the USC game a TMB tailgate. We will host. It'd be cool for all of us to meet our most distant buddy and share in a beer or whatever.
Probably can’t do it this year, and I am not nearly as obnoxious in real life as I am on this board during game day. I am sure we would all get along pretty good. I love Chicago though, I will plan a trip there on game weekend one day, I will give all of you a heads up a couple weeks before so you can clear your liver.
local guys - don't forget double thai day next saturday. hit up double thai day for a bunch of great beers and food then head home and watch the first cfb game of the season.
Looks like Sampson and Matt Fortuna will be doing a twice weekly ND podcast on the athletic. No timetable on when they'll start. I suppose that means he'll no longer join the Irish illustrated guys...
I agree. It's really the only ND podcast I'll listen to anymore. I'll still listen cause I like the Tims, but I'll be disappointed if Pete is no longer involved
i think the BGI podcast is fine as long as its the preview stuff. Dont want Driskel get into any emotion because the dude is nuts, but also footballnuts. I just want to kick EJ HOlland in the nards very time i hear him speak
As much as I like having Pete on the II podcast, if he's doing twice-weekly podcasts with Fortuna, he would just end up repeating all his soundbites on the II podcast if he stayed on so maybe it's for the best if he splits. Tim & Tim are still good by themselves.
Sampson confirmed he'll still be doing the Irish illustrated podcast. May have to skip a few here and there
Monday recruiting nuggets Spoiler Defensive Line Recruiting Nuggets *** The recruitment of Buford (Ga.) Lanier outside linebacker/drop end Phillip Webb continues to intrigue me. I will be seeing him tomorrow so I'll get to catch up with him in person for more intel and have an evaluation of him from a padded practice. As far as what I'm hearing right now, Webb is the only 2020 defensive line prospect still on the board but is still not a big priority for the staff right now. Simply put, it's not very likely that Notre Dame lands Webb even if it puts a full-court press on him, and I'm unsure if Webb will take a visit to ND this fall. Webb is still keeping in communication with defensive line coach Mike Elston, but his top schools at the moment are Florida, Florida State, Alabama, LSU, and Auburn. *** In looking at the 2021 class, there are several top prospects who Notre Dame is after and the Irish already have a commitment from defensive tackle Gabriel Rubio , who may be the lone interior DL recruit in the class. How many total defensive line prospects Notre Dame can take in the 2021 class is still very much up in the air, and I'm told by sources that Notre Dame will be very selective with who they will take. Notre Dame is very high on Lakeland Christian (Fla.) defensive end Cade Denhoff , and the staff loves his pass rushing ability. *** Of all the defensive line prospects on the board in 2021, Denhoff is the prospect I'm keeping a very close eye on. Alabama, Clemson, Florida, and Florida State are also very involved in Denhoff's recruitment. He camped at Notre Dame in June, earning an offer from the Irish, and he loved his time in South Bend. *** 2021 defensive lineman Aaron Armitage from Blairstown (N.J.) Blair Academy doesn't hold an offer from the Irish but has gained interest from the staff. The four-star 6-foot-5, 250-pound strong side end was actually in South Bend for the Lineman's Challenge in June, but he wasn't able to participate in the camp. He accidentally ingested peanuts, which he's allergic to, so he and his parents had to head back home. Armitage did get a good look at campus before he had to leave and was very impressed with Notre Dame. An offer from the Irish would catapult Notre Dame to Armitage's top group. Armitage told me recently that Notre Dame "could be his next home" but the big question is whether or not the Irish will offer. Notes From The Road In Georgia *** I was in the East Atlanta area on Friday to check out a few prospects, mainly 2021 outside linebacker Barrett Carter from Suwannee (Ga.) North Gwinnett. Notre Dame offered Carter in the spring while defensive line coach Mike Elston was recruiting Carter's teammate, defensive end Jared Ivey (ND has since stopped recruiting Ivey). I was very impressed with Carter. Listed at 6-foot-1, 205-pounds, I wasn't exactly sure how Carter would actually look in person, but he has very thick thighs and a great build for a linebacker. He was all over the field making plays (see video below) and is a sure tackler. His instincts in coverage were solid and he's pretty athletic as well. He played running back for his squad and was actually pretty impressive. He's certainly more of a physical back than a speedy guy, but he is certainly a powerful runner. *** On the recruiting front for Carter, the Irish will have to battle with big time SEC programs, but the Irish are very much in the thick of things in his recruitment. He visited Alabama and Georgia over the summer and earned offers from both programs. He has yet to visit Notre Dame but keeps in good communication with Elston and noted that he thinks very high of Elston, adding that "he's the type of guy I would want to be coached by." *** Carter is from Chicago and most of his family is in the area, which makes Notre Dame an even more interesting option for him with South Bend only being under a couple hours away. Elston and Co. are hoping to get Carter on campus this fall for a game visit, but I think it's more likely that Carter takes a visit to Notre Dame during the offseason. Mike Singer ✔@Rivals_Singer 2021 four-star LB Barrett Carter (@bcsznn) with the big stop on Cody Brown, sniffing out the screen. #GoIrish https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2021/barrett-carter-225498 … 38 7:11 PM - Aug 16, 2019 Twitter Ads info and privacy See Mike Singer's other Tweets *** I've reported on a few different occasions that Lilburn (Ga.) Parkview running back Cody Brown is one to watch in the 2021 class, and RBs coach Lance Taylor has plenty of interest in Brown. Taylor stopped by Brown's school in the spring, but they have not met each other in person yet. Brown doesn't know too much about the Fighting Irish right now, but the vibe is that Brown would be interested in Notre Dame if they are to offer and his recruitment is still very much in the early stages. ***As for Brown as a player, he didn't get too many opportunities to shine when I saw him as holes just weren't opening up for him. There was even one occasion where Carter flew in right away and made a perfect tackle on Brown on a screen pass. Brown isn't a burner but he's a tough, physical back. Notre Dame wants speed at running back, so it will be interest to see if the staff extends an offer to Brown. *** Brown is teammates with 2022 athlete Terian Williams , who camped at Notre Dame in the spring and is very hopeful for an Irish offer. Williams, who is just a sophomore, starts at cornerback and is the backup quarterback for his high school squad. He had an up and down outing at cornerback as he made a couple of nice plays but got beat deep a couple of other times, one going for a long gain. He's very young but claims offers from the likes of Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Tennessee. He's a name to keep an eye on. Irish Quick Hitters *** West Bloomfield (Mich.) class of 2021 running back Donovan Edwards visited Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Clemson, and Michigan this summer. It has been a few months since Edwards has been to Notre Dame, but he noted that he is feeling "major love" from Notre Dame and the Irish are one of the "top schools" that he's interested in. Edwards hasn't quite mapped out where he's going to visit this fall but is looking at getting to South Bend for a visit. Edwards plans to really take his time with the recruiting process; it may be another year before he makes a decision. *** Notre Dame 2021 quarterback commit Tyler Buchner from La Jolla (Calif.) Bishops is still very strongly committed to the Irish and had a great visit to South Bend in mid-June. He is back to 100% and his coach told me on Sunday that Buchner has been throwing the ball very well in practices. Their first game of the 2019 season is this Friday. Buchner will visit Notre Dame for the USC game on October 12, where he will get to spend time with 2021 running back Will Shipley , who he is good friends with and keeps in touch with often to recruit him to Notre Dame. Buchner also is in the ear of wide receiver Lorenzo Styles , another big target for ND in 2021. - NATIONAL 6 STATE 7 POSITION TYLER BUCHNER RANK 5.9 6'2" | 195 LBS | PRO QB BISHOPS LA JOLLA, CA CLASS OF 2021 VERBAL COMMIT 3/8/2019 NOTRE DAME *** 2021 Clovis (Calif.) defensive end Keanu Williams is someone who we haven't talked about much recently but I was able to catch up with him. Williams sounds like a politician in talking about his recruitment, as he says all schools are very even for him and high on his list. He is interested about getting out to South Bend for a visit, but I'm skeptical that Notre Dame will end up being much of a player in his recruitment. He is a good looking end as a run-stopper.
FWIW, one of my good friends was on the 2009 USC team and they had an open practice this weekend for the 10/15/20 year alumni teams to watch. He said the grumbling from all the players there was they couldn't believe how mediocre the team looked and everyone was pretty disappointed, but who knows.
There are 3 top 100 guys from Michigan that Loy seems to be overly optimistic with (as per usual) so that shouldn't be a problem.
Honestly never heard of him until this. If Book and then Jurk go down nothing matters anyways. Is he even on scholarship?
In the latest II podcast, Prister said the coaches told Brady Quinn that Hamilton has 13 interceptions in fall camp, and that was before his 2 on Saturday 15 interceptions is bonkers
does this https://247sports.com/college/notre...ports-Crystal-Ball-Landon-Tengwall-134581643/ have anything new to mention?
Spoiler Notre Dame is a major threat to land Olney (Md.) Good Counsel four-star offensive tackle Landon Tengwall, one of the top overall players nationally from the class of 2021. However, there is some heavy competition from elite programs like Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State and others. So, where do things stand with the Fighting Irish? In these updates on my 247Sports Crystal Ball picks, I’ll provide details on whether I “Like It,” still believe strongly it’ll happen, but am a little on the fence, “Love It,” still feel great about the current pulse, or want to “Leave It,” which simply means that it’s time for a change. My 247Sports Crystal Ball Pick — Notre Dame Date of Selection — March 22, 2019 Current Crystal Ball Nationally — 4 picks for Notre Dame, 2 for Penn State Feeling on my current pick — Love It I nearly put this in the “Like It” category, but I’m still a believer that Notre Dame gets this one done and haven’t been told any information that has me truly feeling otherwise to this point. When Tengwall left South Bend early this offseason, Notre Dame was his outright leader, no question about that. Since then, Tengwall has backed off that stance and now has his eyes on multiple schools including the Nittany Lions, Wolverines and others. That said, my take is that he isn’t and was never closer to making a decision and claiming a school as his leader that early probably gave other schools pause, which isn’t something you want when you’re roughly a year out from making a commitment. My guess, and this isn’t anything Tengwall ever said, he probably regrets going public with a leader and talking about at least considering committing to the Irish. In the end, I still believe offensive line coach Jeff Quinn, offensive coordinator Chip Long and head coach Brian Kelly get this one done. He’s a perfect fit in South Bend, his entire family likes Notre Dame and appreciates what the school can do for him beyond just football, and there are still plenty of reasons to like the Irish in this race. Michigan is a major threat, as is Penn State, but I do think that come decision time, he’ll end up at Notre Dame barring a change of heart. This will be a fun recruitment to watch throughout its process. 10COMMENTS Tengwall is ranked as the No. 39 overall player nationally, No. 5 offensive tackle in the country and No. 1 recruit in Maryland per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. 247Sports ranks him slightly higher as the No. 28 overall recruit in the cycle, No. 5 player at his position and No. 1 target from his home state in the 2021 class. he also still "loves" his Lorenzo Styles pick
This podcast was the best, Sampson went full reversal on the season after one practice again. He’s the pessimist ND fans deserve
Sampson at least has some perspective the newer try hard beat writers don’t. His experience keeps him somewhat level-headed.
Sounds like the oline had a rough day which spooked him good news on Kmet though already catching balls And his family is pretty convinced he will play vs New Mexico.
Without EJ how will I get my nightly update that nothing has changed with Ramon Henderson’s recruitment?
Just wanted to share what I’ve been hearing. There really hasn’t been much change in Ramon Henderson’s recruitment.
I got that in the mail yesterday too. trying to decide if those would go better in the ballroom or on the veranda overlooking the orchard. obviously i could just get two but i don't want to be gauche.
