Me no like that. Was not really a big fan of McHale Blade aside from having a sick name but really liked Vallejo. Thankfully I am bad at evaluating kids. Seems this happens every class where we start to sputter in June. A lot of OVs coming up so not panic button time but if they whiff on a lot Freeman needs to reevaluate how they do things. DT board is basically Golden or bust now unless I am forgetting a name
Don’t we have two stud ends committed? This feels like a bit reactionary based on one wishy washy kid.
DT has been the worst recruiter position during the freeman era by a long shot (I can’t even think of another position that has been even underwhelming). Constantly on to the d list.
This is the guy we are pooping pants over? Isn't this like the profile of the plan c take everyone complains about?
IMO He's gonna be a monster, I am also an Idiot so who knows. I have already turned to page to Joey O'Brien. Get Elijah Golden then DT's in the portal if we need to
2022 - ford (bust but highly recruited) 2023 - Houston (now and of) and Vernon (our osu friends tried to tell us at the time the kid was a long shot and many teams had backed off due to a lack of development) 2024 - Sean s. (Not highly ranked but at least a guy with the right measurabls - also a nose) and Mullins (kid may be a stud but no real competition on the trail after he broke his leg his senior year) 2025 -Dixon (another bit highly recruited nose but has the body), Reid/sulfstead (dunno if they will move inside but they were like plan g when it came to the class) 2026 - hole (another nose) Maybe the plan is to used bulked up des at the 3 tech but in the immortal words of Weis - the above just ain’t good enough.
If he actually lands golden it’s ok. I’m just saying the list of nd fits that nd goes all in on and go elsewhere at the 3 tech is very long under Washington.
It's funny how all of the word on Vallejo is how Michigan came in strong last minute with a huge relationship with their DL coach package. Sometimes it's not the position coach.
When it’s the only position that has this problem (offering later, misreading where they are in the recruitment, going all-in on guys only to be holding the bag and trying to raid the Cincinnati ov list when they strike out) then it makes me think who is the person touching that process that isn’t with the other positions. Everyone here is right though it’s not all Al’s fault(of course) and more likely a culmination of a bunch of stuff (including even a new gm trying to figure out how to allocate funds) and Al has done great when it matters on gameday and at nose tackle and de. I’m not saying he should be fired but I do think it’s fair to look critically and “challenge everything”
Michigan was on him way before ND and pitched the NFL talent they’ve developed at the position That, to me, sounds like the DL coach mattered
But they DO have more recent DL talent. How is that on Wash to this point? His first classes are still around.
Apparently bama is going to tell golden he has to commit on his ov this weekend or they will let people take his spot.
Hadn't thought of this. It may be time to re-evaluate that strategy. Perhaps the new recruiting staff can supply enough evidence to call out and fix it.
To be fair with all of this, new age recruiting with NIL and 16-17 year old kids is fucking tough. As of 4 days ago, we had a board with 3 more DL options that looked really good. One visited 7 times and didn’t commit, Wilder was offered a larger NIL deal and told to take it or it’d be gone, and the 3rd apparently had told us he was coming and then went elsewhere. I highly doubt that the recruiting staff expected any of this and they had kept the board pretty stacked with options. We’re getting better in our approach with recruiting overall by offering and keeping guys warm when we didn’t do that in the past. It sucks but they’ll find players that suit them and likely hit the portal next year. Lastly, here is one of my cat’s: View attachment upload_2025-6-11_10-37-34.jpeg
This is a learning process for everybody. Those who handle it by bitching to Tubberville and Trump (this is not a backhand at your AD's golf date, don't give a shit about that) will eventually lose out to those who develop their funding model and allocation infrastructure. These kids are getting professional representation instead of Uncle Billy, and they'll gravitate toward that instead of glad-handing bullshit promises.
This was all figured out by most schools last cycle once the National Letter of Intent went away. I don’t think the schools - at least the serious ones - are behind on this. I think the fans are.
Maybe. I thought a drunken prime time game could cause problems. And Marcus has said he doesn't prefer a lot night games for the team, so he's probably good with it. The good thing is, they win a noon game, the rest of the CFB day is gravy.
You guys pulled the reverse, no night game Making it as uncomfortable as possible, which is fair, which is also why you pussy sec programs are so scared to come up
