Well it has to be tough on them to root for a college team that has had SO much success, and at the same time root for arguably the worst NFL franchise of all time. I mean, even the fucking Bucs have won a Super Bowl.
Show starts at 6 PM EST. They'll announce the 1 seeds and do an "oh boy, we're excited" segment til like 6:10, then announce each region over the next 30 mins. So it'll be more like 6:45 we'll know for sure
Also, they're changing it up. Announcing teams in alphabetical order to start the show, so we'll know by 607-610 EDT if we're in or not
Well, I swore I wouldn't be mad but... Syracuse?! How do they justify putting Syracuse over us? We have a win on the road against them with no Bonzie, and they finished with the same record as us without any marquee non-conference wins. Then Oklahoma is in after finishing 4-11 in their last 15 games. Texas gets in at 19-14, with their two "impressive" wins vs. Oklahoma totally destroyed. Arizona St. drops 5 of their last 6 and gets in. Pretty confident we are better than all those teams, especially Syracuse cuz we... uh... beat them. Stings more than I thought it would.
Well ND lost its chance its tourney with those missed Free Throws vs IU Flip that game and I think they are in
Literally flip the results of any of the four games we lost in the final possession / overtime (IU, Ball State, UNC, Louisville) and we're in I think. If the Gibbs put back at the buzzer goes in, I don't know how we're not in with a win over 2 seed UNC. If we beat Indiana OR Ball State, I think it really hurts the "well, they weren't that great with Bonzie anyway" argument.
Fuck me, they said we were in until Rhode Island lost today. They said Syracuse last in, Notre Dame first out. Unbelievable.
I knew we wouldn't get in. There are people on that committee that do not like ND. Every year we are underseeded. Projected at a 3? Get a 5. Like Clockwork
Notre dame never gets the benefit of the doubt, not in football or basketball anyway. It’s ridiculous at this point.
Essentially how I felt 2.5 hours ago, thus was pretty ambivalent waiting to hear our name called. But seeing we're the first team out and there being no real logical reason to have Syracuse in above us, it's pretty upsetting we didn't get in.
Here's video proof the committee fucked up Fuck any other argument. Any other team here that last spot, whatever. Syracuse gets it, fuck off.
What year was it that Syracuse got super snubbed? Was that last year? Feels like some sort of make-up for that. St. Mary's and USC had decent resumes and I think could have been picked over us, but Syracuse makes no sense
Syracuse went to the final 4 last year didn't they? They got snubbed pretty good within the last 3 years, but if you're mad about getting snubbed or always on the wrong side of the bubble, start winning some acc games. I don't think they've ever been a factor in the league since we moved...
Louisville lost all three of their non-conference games against tournament teams, ND beat a 4 seed on a neutral court. Also, that Louisville home loss was non-Bonzie so the argument would be we are a better team now than we were when we played Louisville. I can see them being a bit miffed but you can certainly make an argument for us to have gotten in over Louisville, but I can't rationalize Syracuse over ND.
We got legit fucked. I was of the opinion that we probably shouldn't be in going in, but seeing how it unfolded my opinion changed completely. Fuck it. win the NIT.
I'm just upset because it's such a lame way for Colson, Farrell, and Geben to go out. -Colson's obviously an ND basketball legend and I really wanted another shot at seeing him in March -Farrell's emergence last season was incredibly memorable in the wake of DJ's pro departure and took what could have been a bubble team to a top 4 ACC finish last year and a 5 seed -Geben has just been a soldier this year. Kind of the rock to the team and the wheels could have really fallen off if he didn't have a decent season Even if we got pasted in Dayton by St. Bonaventure or something, it would feel better than going to the NIT with these group of guys essentially ending this era of ND basketball. Seeing about 1,000 people in the arena Tuesday night for a 9 PM game against Hampton while students are on spring break is just gonna be sad.
Pelican has a weird obsession with Notre Dame recruiting reporters. Imagine being jealous of guys whose wives probably haven't had sex with them since their wedding night. But, Ohio.
I do, it is worth it to watch Coach D get into petty arguments with people then shut down discussions anytime he starts getting shit on. Probably one of the most thin skinned people I have ever seen. I do like him going deep on academic smack talk though, he is fighting the crusades out there. God bless him.
