No onsite graduation this year. That’s not a surprise at this point, but man that’s such a bummer for the class of 2020
ND 40 MSU 37 in 2006 was my personal favorite / best game. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING was going wrong that night. Delayed start and some poor driving got lost and we got there super late, I was the freshman going up with the "cool sophomores" and dropped our cooler on the sidewalk shattering most of our beer (don't know why we brought glass bottles), cops went after us for being ND students and - with what was left of the beer - 4 of the 6 of us got MIPs, torrential downpours, down by 17 after 3 quarters... Then the fourth quarter happened.
For me 5. USC 2005 () 4. Michigan State Football 2006 3. USC football 2012 2. Basketball vs Louisville 5 OT game 1. North Carolina lacrosse 2015
All football, obviously. USC 05 Stanford 12 Stanford 14 (I think it was 14... the one with Koyak's last second touchdown) a couple different Michigan games where it rained a lot and we won Penn State 06 Doing this exercise made me realize that there are a ton of games from 06-12ish where I honestly can't remember if I was there or not.
I didn’t actually attend my top 5 Nd games but I felt like I was there 5) Miami vs ND 2017 4) Michigan vs ND 2019 3) USC vs ND 2006 and mich 2006 2) Clemson vs ND 2018 1) Bama vs ND 2012
It’s looking more and more likely we’ll lose Lorenzo Styles too Chip was an ass but he was a great recruiter and I think ND is feeling that loss right now
Today's list: You five favorite players in the Kelly Era 1. Jaylon Smith 2. Quenton Nelson 3. Will Fuller 4. Josh Adams 5. Chase Claypool
I don't know whether to be excited that my top 5 are 4 defensive players and a kicker, or depressed that not a single offensive player could crack the top 5.
Tate, Rudolph, Ethan all special mention for me. By the end of Tates last year he was the entire offense. Lining up in the backfield against Stanford. Jimmy threading that needle to Tate over Taylor Mays was one of the best plays of that era. Hated Harrison Smith until his final year. Was that Michigan when he had back to back face mask penalties?
worse, it was the sc debacle in 2011. Just when nd thought they had turned the corner on the terrible start and that happens. the reason I put him up on this list is because kelly, diaco and the staff saved his career. That dude was cheated by the tenuta fiasco
Another fun debate would be, which were the most talented teams under kelly. I am sure that 2011 team would be top 3-4.
not sure about that, it was top heavy and some players had to play too early i would love to see how 2017 and maybe 2018 and 2019 stacks up a few years from now
that was a fun game in a very very very weird year. will never forget the reaction in the stadium when they announced stanford beat USC as a 41 point underdog
I go to a lower tier game every year because they usually win those at this point pretty easily. The only big money game I have been to was 2011 USC, the first night game with the new gold helmets. Stadium was unreal that night. Crowd hitting beach balls, younger people going crazy. Ushers told to get fucked. Crist fumbles on the 1, 14 point swing in a matter of seconds. I will never spend a lot of money again.
yup that game sucked. and it was the worst recruiting weekend of the BK era. every single high level guy we had in that weekend went elsewhere, with a whole bunch going to USC (nelson agholor, etc.)
Youre right. I forgot about that. Recruits wrapped from one 30 to the other. Brian Poole and those guys were all there.
I remember people freaking out, the rumor was that some kids just took that official to recruit kids to sc. I think kelly got more vigilant after that one. Probably a welcome to recruiting at the big time level of college football moment for him.
