I don't have a problem with this but seriously NBC does every person that steps in that booth have to be affiliated with a school that hates ND?
It's funny to me since I don't think I've ever heard a non-ND fan refer to NBC's broadcast as anything other than homerish/state-run media. And of course ND fans feel the opposite, if anything.
NBC probably could have easily gotten him 2-3 years ago but now it would be a big step down for him I would think.
He’s openly lobbied for it, and others have as well on his behalf. But they have that stupid arbitrary rule in place.
I think I told the story before. I talked to Brady one time and asked him why he didn't try working for NBC doing ND games. He told me he talked to them, basically begged for the job and they told him they didn't think it would work. He said they won't ever hire a former ND player to do games.
Yes, but they go out of their way to get a former rival all the time. It’s pretty stupid, although it was fun to point to opposite fanbases when they whined that the nbc broadcast was pro nd.
That's the part that bothers me. If the idea is that an ND QB can't be objective them why does the same rules go for a rival QB?
Mayock was really good Haden sucked Flutie is mediocre I think that is true regardless of their school affiliation. Take them away from ND and let them call other teams and I would have the exact same opinion of them.
Not keeping spring sports kids for the allowed extra time. So they are basically telling those kids to go elsewhere.
My god that is shitty for these kids who worked so hard, especially the ones without a sports pro career waiting for them. What a terrible ending for their sport career.
Schools are planning for the possibility that students don’t come back in the fall and there’s either none or a limited/modified football season. It’s a shitty situation all around. Hopefully more football coaches and ADs start taking major pay cuts this year
brian vangorder should donate every single paycheck he got from the university of notre dame to the students right now
Well, even if we replace Pfleuger with Cormac Ryan and Gibbs with Wertz, I think we're pretty much the same team as last year less an All ACC First Team player. Someone try to make me feel better about this right now - I was just starting to feel better about the program.
Cormac Ryan is MUCH more skilled than Pfleuger. He will be a huge upgrade on the offensive end I’d be pretty optimistic about the backcourt if we have a ball handling triumvirate of Hubb, Ryan, and Wertz. That’s really solid because Hubb will be better another year removed from the ACL. The front court outlook seems bleak without Mooney next year though. Durham really needs to step up
Give me smart, athletic guards who can score all-day every day. Goodwin is legit and Carmody returning will give us another hard nose player with some length to battle for boards. Need Nate and Durham to really step up, and I believe they can - particularly Nate. This team will have a lot of talent, and while they'll definitely miss Mooney, I like it's make-up far better than what we had this year.
It is not that different than ND's stance that they'll give players 4 years to get a degree but a fifth year is not guaranteed.
Regarding the Brees news. I was a student in the stands that watched a Gary Godsey led team beat Brees and Purdue. I remember thinking "that guy isn't so special."
is it official? because I would love it. He seems like a genuine guy and he has all the football iq to analyze the game quickly. Doug flutie was a little too far removed from the game to do a good job and he was a terrible, terrible speaker. Half the time he could not line up his thoughts fast enough to verbalize them in a comprehensive way
