Would love if A) the game even happened and B) if the game got moved to Annapolis. The manufacturer I sell for is based out of Baltimore and seems like a great excuse to have a customer back to their factory and have them pay for me to go to an Irish game with a couple of customers.
Shipley plans to decide in the next couple of weeks (I wouldn't be surprised if it's by the end of this week even) and even Pete and Omalley (along with Loy and Singer from Rivals) thinks he ends up at ND. Clemson seems pretty smug that they are going to land him so who knows. Most also think Spindler is going to ND as well outside of that, it's been incredibly quiet since no one can visit
It's probably been discussed already, but in that survey of +100 ADs, only 24% think the season will start on time, so I think the Navy game will probably get announced as cancelled in Ireland in the next month or so, then the whole season rescheduling will be decided in mid-summer. The good news is almost 2/3 of respondents thought there would be a full 12-game schedule, just starting in October or the spring. ~20% thought it would be a conference only schedule starting in October, at which point I don't know what would happen to ND.
Going from no sports to overlapping sports is going to be wild. TVs will be the new ventilator shortage
Shipley’s interview on whichever podcast sounded really positive. That said the kid seems like he is really good at playing the game. Said ND is recruiting him by far the hardest and Clemson is kind of taking the chill approach. Guess which approach he likes wins. He did make a point to mention how close he is with Fisher and Buchner.
I’m not liking the pay for likeness stuff. I personally think this will ruin college athletics. I can’t wait for the no name walk on to sue the star player because he has the same number for a portion of jersey sales.
Yep, sounds like a slippery slope. But I think this also marks just how desperate the NCAA is to make this work. They’re taking threats of schools making their own organization to run football and basketball very seriously.
They cut down the number of duplicate numbers to 2 per team because they added 0. Also I don’t think jerseys count because they have the University logo and they can’t make money off anything with the school logo.
I don't like it simply because I expect ND will refuse to capitalize on it anywhere near the extent that national title contending programs will.
You’re correct, if done right the QB at ND should be a national spokesman if he can hit his ass with both hands. We’ll get all weird and he’ll only be allowed to do Rise and Roll ads.
Re-Watched the 4th quarter of 05' Bush Push game last night for some reason.... it was on NBCSN. Still can't believe they gave up the 4th and long to Jarrett. 15 years later and it still kills me. I wrote a letter in petition to Myles Brand the next morning, citing the official rule book and everything. Almost made me want to do it again.
My wife who was my girlfriend at the time wanted to watch the game with me. I was a little leery. I made a complete Jack wagon of myself and she stuck with me. I knew I had her at that point
Supposedly all the Kentucky fans think he's a lock to go there, but yeah, I think we'd be a legit ACC contender next year if we somehow got him.
Deceptively tough field even no true blue blood. Wisconsin and Houston probably top 10 preseason and Oregon probably also top 25.
I caught some of it. Nothing of note. They weren't taking recruiting q's, mostly stuff about food and video games.
Hubbard from Ignatius (who would go to ND with an offer most likely) also committed to NU yesterday. Probably still on the board if he has a major senior season, a little surprised none of the midwest majors have offered
Believe Sam Hubbard was from Moeller or St. X in Cincinnati. This kid is from St. Ignatius in Cleveland. So I am guessing they are not brothers.
