Seattle has a chain of popular putt putt bars - https://flatstickpub.com/ Never been in it but looks like they have new locations popping up quickly
Got an email that interviews had been concluded, and next steps were a reference and background check. From what I was told there are 2-3 candidates total for 1 opening. Does this mean they’re using the references and background in the decision making process or that I can expect something as long as nothing comes back negative?
Got a freelance writing opportunity with a college team at a state college for their season. All remote work that I can do from home
Final round tmrw morning for a job with a 20% pay increase. It's at a coffee shop. I just seriously started searching.....not sure if I'd want to jump at the first offer. Commute would be 20+ minutia longer. I'd work at least 10 more hours a week. And would have to give up going home for my 1.5 hour lunch break every day. But I've become lazy. No room for advancement. Etc. The new job would be just what I need. Plus the extra $$$$$ doesn't hurt either. But man. I'll never have a work life balance like I do now. Get in before 9. Lunch at 12. Back at 1:30. Leave at 4:30. As long as it's not the end of the quarter.
If you are working 10 more hours a week then a 20% increase is a decrease in pay per hour, not to mention extra travel time.
So they are going to pay me $3K total for the season, which runs from next week to sometime in November, depending on how far they get in the postseason, so anywhere from 11 to 15 weeks of work. Other than updating the media guide, all the other stuff will likely amount to 10 hours a week at most. I'll likely have some miscellaneous award winner awards to write, such as all-region and all-America, after their season is over but once they play their last game my job is mostly done.
Yep, but i make all that up plus some at quarter end. Interview went well. I should have an offer Tuesday or Wednesday. 10 more vacation days. Iptay match up to $2500. 1% 401k match (better than nothing). And a pension.
It's actually a university match, but if you call Clemson and tell them your company donated to the university on your behalf, they'll direct it to iptay. #bigboyfootball
Last day at my current job is Friday. Just got pitched to stay on. The new role would be (in a company of around 1,000) the one very specific role one one specific team that I asked for 18 months ago and was told nah we don’t need that. This company culture can be toxic and there’s a lot of shit I don’t want to put up with anymore. I asked for the moon expecting them to say no, so now I’m waiting to see their retention offer to see if they value me enough to make it worth staying through the BS. I’d also report to my best work friend that moved across the country recently. My gut still says go, but I can be wowed with a big ol number.
Leave. I wouldn't say my last work environment was toxic but there was a lot of shit I was sick of dealing with and I've been far happier since leaving. And the few parts I did still enjoy I am doing on the side freelancing with college athletic departments while being able to avoid all the bullshit.
I had a job lined up before I left. I took a pay cut but I work far less hours and have less BS to deal with so it's a net gain as far as I'm concerned.
Pensions are certainly awesome, and I hope whoever has them gets them, but they can also disappear very quick.
You’re right it’s not like companies have repeatedly screwed employees out of their pensions for the last four decades or anything.
the federal government doesn't have to generate the revenue to match its expenditures, it just simply makes more money and runs a deficit. lol @ trusting people who can't do that.
-It's primarily cash contributions -their assumptions are very reasonable -I'll work on the K, so I'll know if their '18 K is accurate -F500 firm with a great BS Of course there's a risk. There's also risk with a 401k, 403B, etc. Either way, I'll have great insight and ill still have my Roth, wife's 401k, and fidelity account.
1.5 days left. Now being asked by manager to close a bunch of work items and fudge metrics on my team to make them look amazing on paper. She’s taking them over Monday. Jfc.
My boss is so nice to me. He's great once you earn his trust. But he's definitely chewed me out for stuff that's actually his fault multiple times...called me out in staff meetings, etc. He doesn't deal with stress well. At all.
Just got off a call with our software rep....Manager has an all day training...stopped by during the call and I told him I need to talk to him today. I really sent thing there's gonna be an in between here. They're either gonna match my new salary or show me the door tomorrow. I'm ok with either.
dukebuckeye i was reading through this thread and had a question. how do recruiters/headhunters find people’s info to reach out? or determine who is worth reaching out to?
Coke has tried and failed with the coffee products before. Hope they have something better this time around. NM saw where you said you'd be working on their financial releases. Nevermind.
I’m sure everyone has their own way of doing it, but for me; I have to have a conference call with the Hiring Manager and HR to understand exactly what they’re looking for. From there, I'll use resources like LinkedIn, ZoomInfo, True People Finder, or relevant organizations that I am involved with like ASQ or RAPS. Its really easy to find work numbers and email addresses. Most companies use the same format company wide.
Actually went really really great. Had a solid heart to heart with my boss. He said he doesn't blame me, on to bigger and better things, he's probably right behind me. That makes literally 75% turnover since June. He shared the exact dame feelings for wanting to leave. Said I'll do great. Everyone that's left has done great and is much happier. Gonna miss rolling in at 9:30, 11:30-1:30 lunch and leaving at 4:30pm though.
Just got an offer for a new role within my current company. Countered and laid out all future vacation plans and now waiting to hear back.
