I’m going to stop quibbling because I absolutely agree Star Wars fans are extremely shitty online and one of the ways that shittiness manifests is racism.
Ok that was awesome Spoiler kenobi is an absolutely broken man Also are we going to get a live action reunion?
yeah, I was really scared they were going to try and force this. Spoiler that can’t be the last encounter between Vader and kenobi. Vader tells kenobi in a new hope the last time they met kenobi was the master. Obi wan is going to fuck Vader up soon iyam
There seems to be some big time retconning here. It's all I could think about during the episode. For me, it kind of took away from what was a really good episode in a vacuum. That's more of a 'me problem' though.
I respectfully disagree. Spoiler I think it’s doing a great job showing where obi wan went as a person and where Vader went after ep3 movie. Obi wan is a broken man running for his life using a blaster and a human shield. obi wan was no match for Vader and was used like a toy. Meanwhile, Vader was snapping kids necks to draw him out. I bet they fight again and obi wan fucks him up after connecting finally with qui gon then they don’t meet again until on the Death Star where obi wan toys with Vader think that makes sense and would also be why Vader was terrified knowing obi wan was going to be there for luke like qui gon was for obi wan When did I become a ducking Star Wars nerd? [\SPOILER]
This was like a good episode of Rebels, well done on its own merits if you can get past it taking a big dump on the OT
Enjoyed Ep 3 immensely. I definitely thought that was Seth Rogan as the voice of Freck, but some padawan level Googling tells me it was actually Zach Braff.
I'm not worried about contradictions to the OT when it comes to Obi-Wan because his story in the movie doesn't make a ton of sense by itself and his character has generally been made better by all the stuff that has come out since the OT that often contracted that original story anyway.
for sure We know he gets his A game back because he kills maul easily on tatooine so in the next 10 years he stops being a coward ex- Jedi in hiding who thinks it’s over and useless, to a powerful Jedi master again who can also communicate with force ghosts and knows how to become one himself who just uses
Kinda feel bad that Hayden’s redemption of the role is a heavily made up picture in a water tank with glaring eyes and a fake vision of his face across a field
Okay that 3rd episode hooked me back in. Who knew all I needed was vader snapping the necks of kids trying to protect their fathers
It was great until the last minute… Spoiler contact leaves the tunnel and randomly shows up at the exact right time and spot to find Obi who’s aimlessly running around in the dark through a mining operation? Meanwhile, third sister realizes there an unknown hidden tunnel and magically happens to be at the end? Lazy writing at the end took my whole family out of the moment that they created with Vader and him trying to burn Obi Wan.
I sure have, and what I know is that if someone is in front of you, there’s no way to get in front of them (see: hours-long slow speed police chase in space in TLJ). I loved the episode, but spacial awareness is at an all time low. Tala reignites the fire in between Vader and Obi and the danger is averted, the slow robot can come pick him up, she can come down the hill, they’re escaping in front of them… but this fire is all of 100 ft wide. Go around it? Obi’s casual fleeing from Vader has been mentioned. Just have to unhook my brain from logic, this is SW.
it was a secret tunnel. They could have just taken the known path from the village to the mining place
No, sorry. They guy who is Vader anytime the helmet is on. He was also a spice den guard in episode 2.
When watching the scene my initial reaction was that Vader showed some form of hesitancy to attack more. Not sure if it was fear or just ego but it seemed like he hesitated for some reason.
he said the reason out loud. His suffering was only just beginning. He was toying with kenobi and knows what he’s become. Killing him there quickly isn’t the revenge he has planned also, let’s not act like plenty of times in this Franchise the good guy gets away out of nowhere, storm troopers are useless, and Vader lets people go for seemingly no reason
Finally caught up watching all 3 tonight. I’m loving this. And people who have problems with how the Third Sister is being portrayed haven’t watched much Star Wars. She’s the classic brash, do and get what I want to get power without worrying about hurting or killing others Sith candidate. She’s Anakin not holding back because she never got full Jedi training to slow her down. Obviously the racist and misogynistic part of it are disgusting, but these fans actually just don’t get the story to begin with and just want brooding bad guys.
Rewatched the trailers - I count three quick scenes that haven’t been shown yet. We have 3 episodes left. This is going to be wild
This is where I am. Like, as a standalone thing, I loved seeing more of Vader and Kenobi. But as a whole, the entire time, I was thinking how in the world they will still make this fit into the overall continuity. The assumption has always been, at least for me, that they never met after Mustafar, until again in Episode IV. I guess technically that's never stated. As others have said, we have to get at least another confrontation with Kenobi coming out on top. Otherwise Kenobi's line in A New Hope simply doesn't make sense.
I think it actually cleans up IV. It explains why kenobi wasn’t shocked to see Vader in his suit on the death star instead of looking like anakin. In this episode when he sees the vision of anakin, it’s as he last saw him. Not a machine. He doesn’t realize what anakin has truly become until he sees him in the street, and it terrifies him. Also, the line is “when I left you I was a learner, now I am the master”. If they fight again(they have to at this point), kenobi can throw in some line while getting the better of him. Vader also has 10 more years of becoming stronger with the dark side left before ANH also, this series cleans up the Ben kenobi hole in ANH
3 episodes and 3 absolutely absurd chase scenes. This one really took the cake for me - worse than the woods chase in Ep1. Leia runs right past Obi in the market and he's all aaaye come back and then next thing you see is her running down an alley with time to climb up a 40 foot ladder before Obi even gets to the alley... like how fuckin slow are you dude. Not to mention all he had to do was like lift a piece of garbage off the ground using the force back when she was questioning him actually being a jedi and the chase wouldn't have been necessary. Really am enjoying the hell out of the show especially since Vader is dark and ruthless so far, but you can't watch these chase scenes and not laugh out loud / yell at the TV a little because of how dumb the shit is.
Wait Luke and Leia are 20 years old in ANH? For some reason I had it in my head they were ~30 and that Obi was probably around 55 in this and 75 in ANH. edit: just googled and I was way off. 19-23 from ANH > ROTJ.
