So weird as an MLS fan (or any soccer fan really) that your best player can just be bought away. So Granted I'm somewhat used to it as an Everton fan. Prediction: Larin to Everton as New-kaku.
Would not upset me in the long-run. I was afraid Lazio was in the driver seat last summer and that move would've infuriated me. They would've ruined him and midtable Serie A should be beneath him. Everton might be a bit too ambitious for now if he were to be a consistent starter though.
Granted I don't know this roster or who's in some hometown pipeline or anything yet....but the drop off would be terrible in my quick opinion without knowing better. I base this only on this Rivas guy who fucking sucks.
I'm hoping we are at least hanging onto him until next January so he can see out the first year in the new stadium and the first potential playoff run. Then, as Wu said, we cash in on the biggest outgoing transfer in league history and have lots of money to sign a Giovinco-caliber DP. It's already night and day with the addition of Will Johnson and Jonathan Spector. Plus we dumped Bryan Rochez dog shit contract to free up room for another DP. Hopefully someone else can answer this, but is Kaka our only DP now?
No player in any teams Academy right now that is close to Larin (or even Larin as a prospect out of college.). Orlando's best prospect is Pierre Da Silva who is an attacking midfielder who is probably close to being able to contribute for the SR team. He has played well for OCB and leads USL in assists. Best scenario for Orlando is to sell Larin in January. DP Rochez is now off the books. Also this is the last year of Kaka contract and Kaka is definitely not worth the money because he is never healthy and even when he is healthy he isn't a Top 10 player in the league. Team could conceivable have two DP slots open. They should take the Atlanta approach and sign a younger Forward and Attacking MF who can play at the top of the diamond. I also think Orlando gets to keep a higher percentage of the transfer fee if Larin has played 3 full season. Most of the money can't go to salary anyway, so it is just cash that can be used on the non-player salary side of the business.
There's some nice pieces to build around post-Larin. Higuita, Rivas, Toia, Redding, and Bendik are all young and still improving. If we choose to, we have a few more productive years from Will Johnson, Jonathan Spector, and MPG. But fuck all of that for now. I want to see Larin shred this league in a big way this year.
Rivas keeps a shot down for the first time ever and collects goal of the week. There is something special brewing....... I would have Jonathan Spector's baby.
Frustrating but not discouraging. That's always going to be a tough fixture but Larin had a couple bad let offs and we had a good response in the second half.
Got Pro'd last night. 4 fucking dives from the same player and only one card. A phantom call to disallowed the 3rd.
Refereeing was some of the worst I've ever seen. I'm not entirely sure he had a whistle. Good thing that it was a fair result in my opinion.
Fyi the call on the 3rd the linesman said the ball curled out of bounds on the corner. Wasn't a foul call.
The linesman? Honestly TV didn't have a good angle but it didn't seem like a curler that would make its way back of it did go out. And the SKC players weren't throwing their hands up.
That lineo spent more time picking his nose than actually doing his job. There is no way he can make that call. Add to the fact that he used the wrong signal adding even more confusion to what was called. Time for a week off for that whole crew as they were shit both ways.
Damn. Probably deserved 3 but I really liked pushing at the end in a road match. Kaka needed to do better on that break.
Welp. Missed PK sucked but possession looked wasted all game. The bad of Rivas so far outweighs his good moments. Kaka looked awful tonight.
There is no reason tonight should not be a multi goal win. DC is hurting big time and a 1st time starter in centra defense. Now watch Hamid just ball out
Thought that was the best higuita has looked in a while and I love PG. I know PG can get out of position but that little bastard plays his heart out
