devil's advocate: it adds a game that allows one good Big Ten team to play another Big Ten team that did not play each other during the regular season due to scheduling. I like that

How many of those past potential matchups weren't rematches?

It would really depend on which games are made permanent rather than rotating

Man, what a disappointment it would've been if we didn't get an OSU-NW game this year.

    1. Add 2 teams (let's say for hypothetical sake it's ND and OU because it would be awesome)

    2. Divisions are...
    - ND, Illinois, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Oklahoma
    - Rutgers, Maryland, PSU, OSU, Michigan, MSU, Purdue, Indiana

    3. Go back to "Leaders/Legends" names, with the former East division obviously being named "Legends".

    4. Only games against division opponents count against league record, but each team plays three crossover games per season (no protected games) that count towards non-conference

    5. Winners of each division player for B1G title at end of season

This is a scenario that would make me get behind the divisions/title game thing. Doesn't seem that hard.

I'm well aware this year isn't a great example. but MSU-Iowa and Wisconsin-Ohio State are good examples

does anybody, without looking it up, know the previous Leaders/Legends divisions? that was such a stupid idea, one only the B1G would come up with.

we just need to realign because the divisions are so uneven right now. F it, realign every 5-10 years if different programs are going thru spells.

Sounds like someone still upset their team was a Leader instead of a Legend

Leaders: Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Wisconsin
Legends: Iowa, Michigan, MSU, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern

Legends = M's, N's, and Iowa was the easiest way to remember it.

Divisions are dumb, conference title games are dumb. What I like most about no divisions is there are less gaps between playing teams (we had a six-year gap in playing Wisconsin) and in playing at certain schools (haven’t been to Illinois since 2011 or Nebraska since 2012). You get 2-3 guaranteed games per year and rotate the other 6-7 instead of having six guaranteed games per year. That will even up schedules across the board. You won’t have years like Iowa had in 2015 where it avoided both Michigan schools, Ohio State and Penn State in the regular season.

Ohio State and Michigan need to never play twice. It’s our conference and it’s our rules and you’re all just going to have to deal with it

While the names of the divisions were stupid at least in that format the divisions were somewhat equal.

Right and Iowa didn't have to play any of those teams in 2014 either.

From 2011-2018 Iowa has only had to play Ohio St twice, and from 2019-2025 they meet 3 times. So in a 15 year period Iowa only has to play Ohio St 5 times. I bet Nebraska has to play Ohio St 10 times in that same time period. The unbalance of schedules is dumb.

I like the divisions how they are because I like playing OSU, Michigan, MSU every year. I do agree it would be nice to more consistently play each team in the west though but I don't want to sacrifice playing those 3 teams every year for that, personally.

Also, west is going to be brutal in the next year or 2 imo. Coaching talent has improved tremendously and the recruiting and speed has been bumped up with the additions of Fleck, Frost, and Brohm. Each of those schools has legit skill talent and speed they are bringing in and I think it's going to make for a fun division with alot of competition. I think this year's Wisconsin effort is going to be a sign of things to come and I think they are going to take a big step back to the pack with the other programs stepping up the speed advantages over them. Iowa is just always going to be Iowa and Illinois sucks.

My view too, if you want to recruit nationally, you have to play big games that you might lose. I would rather play Oklahoma in nonconference and Penn State in division, even if that means a loss sometimes.
