I don't think I would have Georgia top 5 tbh. My shitty take: Any combination of Ohio St, Texas, Penn St, Clemson and Notre Dame as a top 5 is acceptable.
I think you can make a decent case for probably 8 or 9 different teams to be top 5...and in the next breath a case why they are fringe top 10 at best this season just seems so wide open, more so than any year I can remember in recent memory. but end of the day, I trust talent and certain coaches I keep tweaking my rankings, but I feel like the top 9 is some order of Texas, OSU, ND, UGA, Clemson, PSU, Oregon, Bama, LSU probably not a coincidence those 9 rank #4, #3, #7, #2, #12, #10, #5, #1, and #8 in talent acquisition 2022-25
I’m not sure about the chain of Florida > SC > Miss > Tenn > ATM. I think we are overrated for sure, prob Florida too
That's fair. We have so many questions beyond talent it's hard for me to see us being a top 5 team. If our OL bounces back to 2023 levels then we can confirm the injuries in the unit last year actually were the issue. We've also got Bobo calling plays with a less talented QB. But we were awful running the ball, bad on 3rd down and Mike had no idea he can score points in the first quarter. I'm sure he will get this all fixed in one offseason, though. We had a lot of issues on defense as well but most people aren't ready for that... Yes, I'm looking at Glenn Schumann. We couldn't stop the run and our tackling stunk. I miss Will Muschamp.
I currently have that quintet ranked #10 South Carolina #12 Ole Miss #13 Florida #19 Texas A&M #25 Tennessee but I also have OU, Auburn, and Missouri between A&M and Tenn I think SC is the best of that tier of SEC teams and then UF/Ole Miss is a coinflip. then A&M, OU, Aub, Mizz, and Tenn are all another tier down. basically I think the Cocks are a FG better than UF/Miss and then UF/Miss is a FG better than the next tier. those bottom 5 SEC teams are all coinflips vs one another
I realize we have a qb and some teams don’t. But we don’t have much else going for us and we are never good at stringing together good years. You can analyze all your fancy data but I know we’re in for a letdown
My B1G hot take is Nebraska wins 9 games and is in the playoff discussion into November. Bert Bielema doesn’t get the bounces and with the tougher schedule goes 7-5. (Realizing now their win total is 7.5 and that is not a hot take).
seems fair I'm not high on Raiola though. I have Husk at 8-4 (5-4) and Illinois a coinflip 9-3/8-4 I think the B1G gets 3 bids (OSU, PSU, Oregon) and then a 4th bid comes down to 9-3 Michigan vs 9-3 LSU/Ole Miss/South Carolina. will it be 4 and 4 or 3 and 5?
if I could sign up for these 12 teams seeded this way right now....take my money 8 teams return from last year: Texas, OSU, Clemson, ND, Oregon, PSU, and Georgia 4 new teams join the party: KState, Alabama, LSU, and Michigan
Should have flipped it with the aggie game. Neither will have much national significance but at least the egg bowl has the fun drunk element
The Egg Bowl is probably the perfect game for noon on Black Friday. You don't really care and it's not high level enough that you feel like you have to lock in but you're still probably going to see a few really dumb/funny things happen
I would say that's high for us - the best player on our team (according to Kiffin) is a 19-year-old QB that has never started a game. Our second-best player is a DE/LB coming off labrum surgery.
No USC on there as Lincoln Riley enters year four would be concerning, if it wasn’t for their 37 commits in the 2026 class. Give him 27 months, the culture will change!
