Is Arch Manning actually good? Outside of running the ball in the playoff I’ve never seen him play (don’t watch much Texas football) honest question
no one really knows yet. but everyone is trusting the name Manning he lit up Mississippi St and played ok vs ULM when Quinn was out last year
Just for some context, here is what a gentleman named Tucker Gleason of the Toledo Rockets put up against Miss St last year
lol seems about right. Clanga's defense was #110 in 2024 based on FEI including 123rd in yards per play
there are definitely some odd ones Va Tech #26 USC #19 Illinois #44 Kansas #30 Mississippi St not dead last in the SEC
here's where I'm at the 1st week of June 9 Boise (11-2) @ 8 Penn St (10-2) 12 Michigan (9-3) @ 5 Georgia (10-3) 11 LSU (9-3) @ 6 Ohio St (10-3) 10 Alabama (9-3) @ 7 Kansas St (10-3) 1 Texas (12-1) in Sugar 4 Clemson (11-2) in Orange 3 Notre Dame (11-1) in Cotton 2 Oregon (12-1) in Rose
Last year was a weird year for us. Fell short of making the playoffs which was the hope, but still had a 10 win year. 10 win seasons falling short is a huge step up for Mizzou. This year is more of a 'see what we got' type year. Defense should be nasty but offense is pretty much brand new. Kind of fun.
Preseason expectations for middle tier programs are awful. This whole season will be viewed a failure if we go 10-2, when that is a fantastic year for PSU. I much prefer the expectation of 8 wins and you win 10. Much better fan experience. I’m already disappointed and the season hasn’t started.
Our fanbase is full of miserable old turds so you're not wrong, but I'm pretty excited that we appear to legitimately have a shot at a national title. As long as we go 10-2 and make the CFP again I'll consider the season a success; basically a base line Franklin season. Still remains to be seen if he can finally figure out how to beat an Oregon or OSU. If you're disappointed that we don't do that you haven't been paying attention for the past decade. It's just who we are.
You will come around to the existential dread once we lose a one score winnable game at home to Oregon in late September
coinflip between 11-1 and 10-2 and another CFP berth (and likely home game) only 1 game as a dog as of today imo just get in the field, that's all that matters Spoiler
I feel bad for Penn State. The pressure of bringing all those guys back and adding the best DC in the world must be awful
Arch is good for sure but the hype and expectations on him are ridiculous.. and will be hard for him to live up to it especially in his first year starting with basically with a whole new OL as well
I really don’t think it’s that outrageous. I don’t think it’s an outlandish take to say the bottom half of the SEC is solidly better than the bottom half of the other 3 conferences. I imagine these numbers are all pretty close from like 10-50
I got 12 of 16 SEC teams in the top 20 for my SoS, but not the entire conference. I have Missouri at #39 and Tennessee at #46 SoS and yes, things are very close. the avg P5 team would project to win: 5.4 to 7.3 games vs SEC schedules (Florida is hardest, Tenn easiest) 5.8 to 8.0 games vs B1G schedules (Wisky is hardest, Illinois easiest) 6.5 to 8.9 games vs ACC schedules (Cuse is hardest, UVA easiest) 7.1 to 8.2 games vs BXII schedules (TCU is hardest, TTech easiest) and 7.7 games vs ND's schedule
identify the rating of an average team and then apply it to all schedules and rank the projected wins it spits out so my SoS is what would the average team's record be vs schedule x? now vs schedule y? etc so I have a constant across all schedules and it accounts for home/road
oh I don't disagree at all I built this for end of year but it obviously produces preseason ranks too
Last year I was bearish on my team's particular results. This year I'm looking at what playoffs actually look like and going meh. You are right though, I will probably be on here poor mouthing any given year. It's the smart position for a Gamecock fan
I need to get my head in the game though because according to the Sicko Committee Creed, All Football Is Good Football.
random summer topic of the day: the last time the SEC went 3 straight years without winning at least a share of the national title was 1999-2002 (FSU, OU, Miami, OSU) does the "drought" end in 2025?
