Interesting: Report says Petrino walked troopers down the hall and introduced them to Dorrell for her interview about the accident.
Yeah sure sounds like he was hiding her to me. This whole entire thing might not be what everyone is assuming......
Clay Travis @ClayTravisBGID
Petrino also told officer "gust of wind" caused accident. Later said sun in eyes. We all know it was crotch grab.
He finally stopped lying to the AD about 20 minutes after he found out the report was going to become public
Or he was so out of it, he didn't actually talk to Jeff Long initially. Based on the trooper's discussion, he was barely able to talk to anyone for the first 24 hours. There is nothing official that says the University actually got the story from him. Also, the fact that he openly introduced her to him as "his rider" several days before the report was finalized doesn't sound like a guy trying to keep a secret from the AD.
This whole story has been weird from day 1 and there has been far more speculation in the media than actual facts. This story doesn't fit the narrative that has been spun so far. My question is when additional facts are released (by the University) what else is going to turn out to not be true.
So you are saying that Petrino didn't lie at all and didnt tell his boss any aspect of the story (which he had to know would embarass the University) until almost a week later? And it is just a coincidence that he told him right after he knew it was going to be public?
The Petrino rally as of 6:12 pm
looks exactly as i expected it to look
What I'm saying is based on the troopers report, Petrino was able to talk to almost anyone and that he was going in and out of consciousness the entire time. This was the time frame when the University released their original statement. So the question was did they take a statement from him personally or did they assume and release the statement? I haven't seen anything from the university that details their chain of events. Add in the fact that Petrino personally introduced the troopers to JD at the AD, that doesn't make sense if he was intentionally trying to hide the fact that she was with him. Again, something just doesn't make sense here with what has been speculated in the media.
Here is a better pic
average BMI of that Petrino rally has to be like 27
The news today just means he will avoid criminal charges. He lied to the AD and lied to the media in his press conference, embarrassing a lot of people. He still hired his mistress which opens up the university to lawsuits for sexual harassment, preferential treatment, hostile work environment, etc. and sets a precedent for how the university punishes future "inappropriate relationships" between employees and their subordinates.
So it basically come down to whether you believe a guy who is prone to lie was actually "out of it" or he was just doing what he always has done?
Hey Hogs I heard you like a cover up, so I put a cover up in your cover up.
He wasn't "out of it" at the press conference when he said there was no one else on the bike.
The issue of her hiring has already been said to likely not be the issue. The idea was that she was some unqualified bimbo that he hired. However, she has a Masters from the University and had already been employed there when she was hired into the new job. The new job was not a competitive listing.
I go back to my point earlier that today's report doesn't match the media narrative. Why would he be shocked that her name would be listed in the report when it was he that introduced the troopers to her so they could interview her for their report. Something else is missing here. The fact that the "inappropriate relationship" hasn't been defined and he didn't say he had it with her, it was sexual one, etc. All of that is speculation in the media. BPs statement the night he was suspended doesn't actually admit to any of that. The university hasn't said that was the case either.
He actually never said he didn't have anyone on the bike with him because it is never asked. The closest thing to it is:
On how he got from the site of the accident to the hospital -- "Well when I came out of the ditch there was a lady there that had flagged down a car. The guy that was in the passenger's seat said, 'Get in, we'll just take you right to the hospital instead of waiting,' and so I got in the car and they headed towards Fayetteville. In the meantime on my cell phone I had a call from Lance King, so we set up a place to meet, and then he brought me to the hospital. The first call I made was to Doctor Arnold, to tell him I needed to get to the emergency room. He was actually in Fort Smith, but made all the arrangements for my arrival."
Those events actually match the troopers story too.
Nobody would call a relationship "inappropriate" if it weren't a sexual one. That's the immediate inference; why imply it unless it's something worse?
Which is what I initially thought as well but the whole thing hinges on the idea that he lied to cover it up and from what the trooper's report says, I don't see that being the case. I mean if I'm trying to hide the fact that she was on there, I would have made up any number of stories but he basically said she was on there and oh by the way here she is, feel free to interview her. That fact doesn't jive with him not knowing the police report would name her and he had to scramble to tell Jeff Long. In fact, there was the idea floating (on the boards and in the media) that a different trooper entirely did the write-up and Petrino didn't even know that was being done. I think we can safely say that idea is busted (I've watched a lot Mythbusters lately )
Look you guys know I'm not prone to embellish or bullshit things (read my intel thread if you doubt me). Something just doesn't sound right in this entire narrative.
this hogfan guy is great
Hogfan going full rivals homeboard.
Yeah, I agree with that. I just think his conduct was more nefarious than what's been exposed thus far.
He was banging a subordinate. It doesn't matter if she was qualified to be the Chancellor. If any co-workers noticed the affair at the office (physically or verbally) and were offended by their relationship they can sue for hostile work environment. If she felt any pressure to sleep with Petrino because of her job/promotion she can sue for sexual harassment. This is really easy to understand for everyone except Arkansas fans so I'll leave you with Petrino's quotes.
In Petrino's initial press conference:
"When I came out of the ditch there was a lady there that had flagged down a car and the guy that was in the passenger seat said, 'Get in, we'll just take you right to the hospital,'" Petrino said.
In the press conference after he was outed:
"Today, I've acknowledged this previous inappropriate relationship with my family and those within the athletic department administration."
"My concern was to protect my family and a previous inappropriate relationship from becoming public," Petrino said in a statement released by the school. "In hindsight, I showed a serious mistake in judgment when I chose not to be more specific about those details."
Yeah this is why I hate these damn media driven stories. They tend to get about 10 miles ahead of the facts in the case.
hogfan is a habitual poster in the pearl, ms thread
Yes I read that as well since I posted it a few posts up. My point is and remains that most of the discussion around this entire case has been full of speculation with very few facts. The troopers report today disproves the entire theory that he was trying to cover it up by using the police and specifically points to his condition when he was picked up at the hospital and the next day. Also, I still have the question that if Petrino was attempting to hide her from being a passenger from the police and the AD, the troopers report doesn't support it.
yeah because that is who I am.
Remind me to have both of you put on the no-fly list
If he was not banging her, they would make absolutely certain no one thought he was. Not leave it open ended and up to speculation that he might have been.
"Hey coach, you said you were alone on the bike, right?"
Ok I see the difference now. The transcript of the actual PC doesn't have that in it because he wasn't asked at the PC. That was a separate question either before or after the PC. Actually the looks like afterwards and the next day.
I'm gonna waterboard you for that shit
Murtagh must be a member of the Arkansas media
