That was so good. What a fun night. Cory Henry was great. Hard to say where it ranks with other Billy shows but it was up there. Fucking Arabia.
Followed by Alex effeminately singing Ain’t No Grave. I love that song. Hopefully you’re friends with the dick that couldn’t stop yelling during Royal’s Arabia solo. I would pay good money to watch you punch him in the face. I’m not missing any Billyween if it’s even remotely doable. Every one has been a superb experience.
Really digging on Clay Street Unit. What they released so far is shaping up to be a great roots album.
Sucks trading 3 nights in Cary for one in Greensboro. Seems like he won’t be back to Koka Booth though. Been wanting to get to St. Augustine but it never seems to work out
Magoo is on the ROMP festival lineup. If they get added to DelFest too next year is going to be the tits. Lincoln in Raleigh has a hold on them for multiple dates to choose from. Too Many Cats, Man is a top notch jamgrass jam vehicle. They also did a 27 minute version of Del’s Travelin Teardrop Blues recently and I’ve probably listened to that one at least 5 times. They smoke Andy Hall’s Event Horizon as well. To me they really embody the free spirt and energy of improvisation in bluegrass/jamgrass. Feel like they have been taking some risks with that and just letting the jam go where it does. Whereas MGU seems a bit more planed like a bluegrass Spafford or something.
Bela and The Flecktones are doing a Christmas tour with Sierra Hull. Missed getting tickets during sale but just scored orchestra on CoT. Howard Levy can’t be there, but should still be amazing. Fleck, Wooten, Futureman, Coffin, Hull. Let’s do this
Last nights show looks like a heater to start the tour. Micheal Cleveland in the 2nd set and looks like they played through with no encore.
