Great fight tonight. A rematch nearly 10 years in the making with two of the sports funnest fighters. DAZN, 8:00 pm ET, Juan Francisco Estrada vs Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez 2, Jessica McCaskill vs Cecilia Braekhus 2, Hiroto Kyoguchi vs Axel Aragon Vega. Three world title fights from Dallas, headlined by a long-awaited rematch between Estrada and Chocolatito, who hold the WBC and WBA belts, respectively, at 115 pounds. This fight sells itself if you know the fighters. If you don’t know the fighters, just trust it and tune in. McCaskill-Braekhus 2 is another rematch worth getting done, as McCaskill ended Braekhus’ long title reign a bit controversially last August. And Kyoguchi comes to the States for his first fight under the Matchroom banner, defending his WBA 108-pound title against Vega. that Fury-Wilder fight in Vegas last February was an amazing atmosphere and the last big time feel normal times sporting event before covid hell..remember watching it and being so jealous that I wasn't there in person.
huh? My statement was literally that. An unmotivated unprepared out of shape Fury won’t beat Joshua at his best. When discussing fights and making predictions you have to assume both fighters will enter at their best and go from there. So like I said Fury in shape and focused will kill Joshua. Joshua was killed by smaller less talented version of fury (good boxer with some power).
FWIW I am not saying Joshua is a Bum. I am saying Fury is the best HW right now and he just demolished someone I think is better than Joshua.
Good quality fight tonight. One of the best prospects in the sport against a damn solid fighter. DAZN, 9:00 pm ET, Vergil Ortiz Jr vs Maurice Hooker. DAZN also have a Saturday night card, and a pretty good main event for it, as Golden Boy get back in action with top welterweight prospect Ortiz headlining against former 140-pound titlist Hooker. This is another pretty good foot forward for Ortiz on paper, but if he gets through this — especially if he bulls through it like he has everyone else — then Golden Boy are gonna be running out of acceptable “steps” for Ortiz pretty much here, and they might have to consider seeing if a Terence Crawford fight is available, even though “Bud” would be an enormous jump from this level. That or maybe get some type of WBC, IBF, or WBA eliminator order. Eliminators are a great way for promoters to have someone tread water. The co-feature here has Seniesa Estrada who will challenge Anabel Ortiz for the WBA 105-pound title Along with the Ortiz-Estrada co-feature, we’ll also see LOPEZ-LOPEZ, as Marcelino Lopez takes on Jairo Lopez in a 10-round fight at 140 pounds, and cruiserweight prospect Tristan Kalkreuth will open the action against Dustin Long.
Beterbiev back in action today finally, sometime around 3PM on ESPN. ESPN and ESPN+, 1:00 pm ET, Artur Beterbiev vs Adam Deines. ESPN’s schedule have the ESPN+ stream starting at 1 pm ET, and the “main card” portion starting on ESPN at 3 pm ET, where I think they have a two-hour window for the show because there’s live college basketball right after. Beterbiev is expected to roll here, frankly, but he’s had a lot of injuries over the years and he’s not getting younger, either. Beterbiev, 36, hasn’t fought since unifying the two 175-pound belts with a win over Oleksandr Gvozdyk in Oct. 2019, dealing with various injuries and delays since then, as well as switching anticipated opponents from Meng Fanlong to Deines, who lost to Fanlong in 2019 and has won his last two, albeit against low-end opponents. Beterbiev (15-0, 15 KO) will be a huge favorite here, with Deines (19-1-1, 10 KO) not really considered a top contender. But it’s an ordered fight, so here we are.
