He definitely hit a wall round 4.... it wasn't till his corner told him at the end of R9 that he needed the next three that he somehow came out firing ala De La Hoya in his prime. Going into the next fight I don't think you see the nerves from GGG early and I don't think he will let off late either. GGG can learn so much from this fight and get better.
would also like to point out how good Mayweather is/was. Dude dominated Canelo and fast forward some years and Canelo is going toe to toe with a pfp top 3 fighter in the world.
Canelo wasn't ready he wasn't half the fighter he is now. FM was great but I don't think using who Canelo has become proves that.
This is pure delusion. Canelo is improved but he's still mostly the same guy who got absolutely schooled by floyd
Here's a video of her talking about how she judges fights from 3 years ago: She all but says that she doesn't really have any rhyme or reason and is completely arbitrary.
Both K2 and Golden Boy are apparently heading straight into rematch negotiations. That's good news. Was a little worried that GB would try to keep using GGG's age against him and make him wait a bit. http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/...scuss-gennady-golovkin-canelo-alvarez-rematch
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED To the sport of boxing – I love you. You’ve been by my side since I was 10-years-old. You’ve taught me so much. You’ve humbled me. You’ve promoted me. I’ve sacrificed a lot for you, but you’ve given me more than I ever thought possible. You gave me a platform, made me a champion and helped me provide for my family. I am forever grateful to you. You and I will always be synonymous, connected at the hip. Thank you for all the wonderful people I’ve come in contact with because of you. I’ve made friends for life. As I walk away from the sport of boxing today, I leave at the top of your glorious mountain, which was always my vision and my dream. I did it. We did it. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has played a part in my journey. You know who you are. I could not have done this without you. I want to be clear – I am leaving because my body can no longer put up with the rigors of the sport and therefore my desire to fight is no longer there. If I cannot give my family, my team, and the fans everything that I have, then I should no longer be fighting. Above all, I give God the Glory, for allowing me to do what I’ve done, for as long as I have.
Strong ESPN card tonight. ESPN, 10:00 pm ET, Oscar Valdez vs Genesis Servania, Gilberto Ramirez vs Jesse Hart. Two world titles on the line in this one, as Valdez defends the WBO featherweight title, and Ramirez defends the WBO super middleweight title. Neither fight is anything incredible on paper, but neither is a turd, either, so it’s a really solid Friday night card on ESPN, all things considered

Sounds like his body just told him no. He's got to move up to 147, not the first time he's had issues making weight.
he destroyed that other dude did they say guzman was working full time spraying houses or something while training?
Haha yeah, not exactly the stiffest of competition. Guy probably made $10k to help his real business or something.
Cards a little wide for my taste, but Valdez rightly gets the decision. Great fight, hopefully Servania gets another TV shot.
