Big test for the kid tonight. We know what Mean Machine can do after the Crawford fight. DAZN, 8:00 pm ET, Vergil Ortiz Jr vs Egidijus Kavaliauskas. A nice-looking card from Golden Boy with serious action potential. Ortiz-Kavaliauskas could have good action, and we’ll also get a trilogy bout between Roger Gutierrez and Rene Alvarado, who had a good, dramatic scrap in January. Felix Alvarado will also be defending his IBF junior flyweight title against Erick Lopez. The 23-year-old Ortiz has mostly blitzed his way through the competition so far as a pro, but Kavaliauskas is a former title challenger and no easy out. Ortiz is looking to force his way into a title fight sooner than later — perhaps against Terence “Bud” Crawford, since Ortiz has a minor WBO belt — and Kavaliauskas is the type of opponent he needs to beat to do that.
ESPN+ and ESPN, 10:00 pm ET, Joshua Franco vs Andrew Moloney 3. A third meeting between Franco and Moloney, for Franco’s secondary WBA belt at 115 lbs. This has become a more heated rivalry after the very controversial outcome of their second bout last year, and their first fight — which actually lasted more than a couple rounds and a clash of heads — was a good one. Franco upset Moloney in June 2020, but when the two met in their rematch last November, a cut caused by a headbutt ended things prematurely and controversially after just two rounds. The main card will also feature a 140 lb matchup between Arnold Barboza and Antonio Moran, plus the pro debut of Muhammad Ali’s grandson, middleweight Nico Ali Walsh.
Goddamn Mannix just went in dry on the WBA. Called them parasitic and every fighter that owns a belt should throw it in the trash, amongst other things
Im opposite, that’s what I’m most interested in. Maybe it’s fan boy of Inoue that I want to watch Casmeiro
The only reason I’m still watching I want to see if casimero does something illegal by getting frustrated
