Boom Boom’s kid played pop warner in Santa Monica when mine did. They were like 9 years apart but it was cool. I think I talked to him once and he was a douche. Small guy who thought (probably could) beat everyone up. My kid didn’t play with his obviously so maybe I am way off.
Ultra casual boxing fan tuning in. Is this Marine going to make me proud to be an American or is this Japanese fella going to do work?
Wilder announces that him and Tyson Fury have signed on to do a rematch of their first fight, likely in early 2020. So, Ortiz II then Fury II for Deontay.
Couple cards today. First up: FS1, 8:00 pm ET, Devon Alexander vs Ivan Redkach, Hugo Centeno Jr vs Willie Monroe Jr, Onoriode Ehwarieme vs Rodney Moore. Former titleholder Alexander takes on the always-exciting Redkach in the main event from San Jacinto, California, with Centeno-Monroe a decent matchup at 160 unless Monroe is able to dictate the pace. Ehwarieme is a big, untested, 31-year-old Nigerian heavyweight.
And then: DAZN, 8:30 pm ET, Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz Jr, Callum Smith vs Hassan N’Dam, Katie Taylor vs Delfine Persoon. An early start from MSG for this one. The “main card” is set to begin at 8:30 pm ET. Joshua, holder of the WBA, WBO, and IBF heavyweight titles, makes his American soil debut at Madison Square Garden, facing replacement opponent Andy Ruiz Jr, who is chubby but is no worse an opponent than previously-scheduled Jarrell Miller, probably. Smith-N’Dam is for Smith’s WBA 168-pound title, and Taylor-Persoon is a full unification at 135 pounds.
Had the same thought. Not letting them fight on the inside at all. Which is a shame, cause they’re throwing a ton.
Watching on DAZN, but try this one. https://www.fbstream.io/live/stream/katie-taylor-vs-delfine-persoon-fb-3/
Last two weeks I’ve had to drop the “women’s” qualifier. These have just been quality boxing matches.
