him dropping his guard right after Paul started throwing the punch lol
like 70 year old Floyd Mayweather Sr would've easily gotten out of the way of that punch
Fix was in
Woodley got another man's name tatted on him, he'd damn sure take some money to go down
Reminded me of:
This is so hilariously awful.
people paid to watch this lol
Barry Tompkins has covered legendary fights like Pryor-Arguello, just shameful
I’m not going to jump on the it was fake train. Woodley got knocked out. It’s pathetic but this is part of boxing now.
Woodley looked like a man who could never walk in the barbershop again without hearing some shit. His pride was hurting something fierce and Mama Woodley taking pics like it’s graduation
Feel sorry for Woodley
No way this wasn’t intentional
I don’t believe it was fixed. Woodley got careless and looked to defend the body.
this guy calling out dudes who cut to 155 for the majority of their careers, getting them to cross over, and acting like a tough guy in the process. pretty incredible stuff
I can't imagine how long it takes to unlearn the things that don't translate to boxing just in stance alone
It looks and sounds real. He hot knocked the fuck out. If it’s fake it’s some Hollywood type editing to make it look that real/. Now I’m not saying Paul is a good boxer I’m just saying that punch was real.
If the fight was fixed you don't take a big punch like that, the whole thing was a clown show but the punch was absolutely legit.
no doubt the punch was legit but it just looked so weird when it happened. i’m far from a boxer but i saw that coming a mile away, i just don’t get it
How much would you have to be paid to agree to set yourself up to receive an easy KO under these circumstances?
A fraction of what Woodley got.
no amount of money for myself to take that shot clean.. if i could do some good with it low 8 figures
i've been viciously ko'ed and have zero desire to test the waters on TBIs and CTE
that punch could kill you. You’d have to a stunt man to be able to make it look that real. You’d have to be Eric The Viking level good to make it look that real
For sure. But what's your payout to take that chance one time?
People just don't understand how good the guys are at the elite level (that you see on tv) and how they'd make literally anyone else look stupid. These guys are simply some amount of training sessions above amateurs.
I’m suicidal so catch me on a good day and $1.
Sadly even after that terrible fight I'm still interested in who they pick for his next fight.
if that money didn't include hospital bills then we could negotiate an extremely large sum
uhhh I'd be scared to take this for any money
Heard that but you are loved and cherished so never forget that.
This exactly. I trained for close to 20 years of my life and I could never be on tv.
A Tyson KO and a Jake Paul KO aren't comparable though. Even if they're both KOs.
it'll be a smaller person who isn't primarily trained in boxing that honestly shouldn't be commissioned... just like all of his fights it seems
Probably - but I feel like they have to do something interesting or the gate is going to start to wane (I'm sure I'll end up being wrong on this and it will somehow keep going up).
I got some great dudes on here and some some amazing people irl. I’ve also gotten help and realized who I am. I’ve become a better person.
Every day is a struggle but I know how to cope.
Well in that case I'd happily take on Jake Paul as long as whatever figure didn't include hospital bills. I'm pretty skinny at like 6'3ish and 170-175, if I get ko'd then fuck it.
I would pay $100 to watch a Gore / Deron Williams rematch before I'd pay 10 bucks to watch this guy. It blows my mind anyone is buying these.. nothing matters i guess
Me and some friends sparred a few times back in the day (we were all runners who could regularly run 10+ miles) and it's crazy how fast your energy goes when you're throwing punches. I can't imagine how guys used to go 15 rounds back in the day.
I wanna say my best example was Kelly Pavlik fighting some bum after the Hopkins fight and he just made him look stupid. Hopkins (atg elite boxer) made Pavlik (pretty good with legit power at 160) look average for most of the fight but Pavlik at least looked like he belonged there. Pavlik made a guy with like 25+ pro fights look a total amateur, just can't fathom anyone with barely any training in there.
$50k or so. That was a very clean shot and will take a month or so for the cobwebs to clear. It could easily have been planned, as others have speculated. “In the 6th, you drop your hands and leave an absolute opening for a killer hook. You do this and you get your payout.” It very well could have been 100% legit, too. Either way, that hit is taking a little time off of your life.
Also think of how many kill shots in MMA gloves Woodley has taken - doubt this would register as a "major risk" on his radar considering he's supposedly walking with a minimum $2mil.
Jake Paul is a good boxer, and smart enough that he'll never get in the ring with someone naturally his size, age, or trained in boxing.
Do hardcore boxing fans watch this shit? Seems like this sideshow is all anyone ever talks about with regards to the sport
Dropped his guard to protect for a body shot, Jake closed his eyes and put everything into a haymaker and it connected. Real punch, real KO. The one thing the Paul kid has is some pop.
Most of the big boxing sites covered the fight, but mainly because there were a couple real fights on the card. Treating Paul like a sideshow/spectacle but with some semblance of respect for getting in the ring at least.
For entertainment, not expecting anything else but a spectacle. But I don’t know anyone paying $80 for it.
The punch was real but you can clearly see the glove drop for no reason and he grimaced because he knew what was about to happen. I don’t think they quite expected him to fold like he did. There was also a long stretch of zero action while they worked it up.
Logan specifically said inside 3 in his “prediction”, so I think getting off script early with the cut probably pushed back what was supposed to happen in the 3rd.
But hey also maybe he should just go by Jake Pauli because he’s the GOAT.
David Diamante (one of the preeminent ring announcers in the world) was involved in a serious motorcycle accident on Monday while riding on Third Avenue in Brooklyn beneath the Brooklyn Queens Expressway.
He was taken to NYU Langone Health in critical condition suffering from three fractures to his spine, multiple broken ribs, and serious damage to his right knee.
He underwent five hours of surgery on Tuesday during which nine screws, multiple rods, and cadaver parts were inserted in his spine.
Diamante is fully lucid and said today, "It's going to be a tough road. It's a bad injury and getting better will take some time. This will be a struggle. I'll have to learn to walk again, and right now there's a risk of complications. But I have a positive attitude and will be back as soon as possible."
Everyone in the boxing community wishes David the best. The fight starts now.
Fucking hell. That sounds awful.
