Apparently Favreau is already on board for Mandalorian Season 2, as well is Disney That's a good sign. I think it's gonna be great.
Oh no! We have to wait 3 years for another movie! Whatever will we do!? That was the norm for the first two trilogies. Relax. Millions of us went through this, twice. You can too.
Not worried about the wait. Give them time to get it right But GoT writers on their own doesn’t exactly inspire confidence
Herzog is a madman so this is very encouraging https://www.slashfilm.com/werner-herzog-talks-the-mandalorian/ “I was invited by Jon Favreau, who started this whole series, to act. I looked at the screenplays, and I had the feeling, although I know very little about Star Wars, that yes, I could do it. It’s a character in whom you cannot trust. And I said, yes, I can do that.” “I have to confess, I never saw a single [Star Wars movie]. I’ve seen some trailers, I’ve seen some excerpts here and there. I know about the whole franchise and about the toys for the kids.” “The Mandalorian was filmed not like all the other Star Wars or other big event films [with] green screen, green screen everywhere, in the camera, motion control moving there. All of a sudden, you have a phenomenal step forward. As an actor, you see the entire planet on which you are. You see the landscape, you see the formation. The camera could even be handheld and move in between us, seeing the same landscape. It’s not green screen and artificiality. It brings moviemaking back to where it should be. It’s a phenomenal, phenomenal achievement.”
This idea that all Star Wars movies are filmed entirely in front of a green screen and are 100% CGI has got to die. The only movies that even come close to this myth are AotC and RotS. PM had crazy elaborate models and practical effects, more than all the OT movies. The sequel movies are all on location and on elaborate sets at Pinewood Studios (like the tree in TLJ that Yoda blows up, all on a set. Pretty cool)
Shocker, I know, but I'm giving them a pass until I see the first movie of theirs. Doing their own trilogy from scratch is a lot different than finishing GRRM's convoluted mess in an HBO time constraint.
ugafish From Polygon: "The meager box office of last year’s Solo: A Star Wars Story seems to have dampened Lucasfilm’s original plans for a run of spinoff movies. Those spinoffs, which began with 2016’s Rogue One, were rumored to include" bla bla bla Or you know, we could keep spewing bullshit.
You both mean thanks to the Star Wars fanbase that can’t not complain about shit at every opportunity
true, or even just tweak it slightly. Instead of... GUY: "Name" HAN: "Han..." GUY: "Han what? Who are you're people?" HAN: "No one." GUY: "Han...Solo." Make it this... GUY: "Name" HAN: "Han..." GUY: "Han what? Who are you're people?" HAN: "No one, I'm solo." GUY: "Han...Solo." Boom, fixed the scene
Good luck star wars fans. This new trilogy will be filled with tropes shitty dialogue and incoherent character arcs. Basically nothing the star wars fanbase isn't used to by now.
I hate to constantly be a downer but this last season of GoT has given me serious doubts about this trilogy. Guess only time will tell and at least they will have an open template (hopefully) to work with this time.
I think they are writers on GoT so I would expect that to continue but who knows. I do like the idea of the whole trilogy being the same vision all the way through.
Granted it was over a year ago, but the official press release said “write and produce” https://www.starwars.com/news/game-...e-and-produce-a-new-series-of-star-wars-films
If you guys are itching for some good SW story telling, the last two books were great. Both give great looks into pre Episode 1 stuff. Great origin stories (for lack of a better term) about Qui Gin, Obi Wan, Dooku and Syphadias
“We did a deal with David Benioff and D.B Weiss, who are famous for Game of Thrones, and the next movie that we release will be theirs,” Iger said. “And we’re not saying anything more about that.” super encouraging
Jedi Lost : Dooku by Caven Scott The only downside is that it’s an audiobook only and they have a. Much of voice actors so it’s like an audio play I like To read so it was tough to get use to. Wish it was in ebook form.
Okay, so I don't watch Game of Thrones, but I thought everyone said it's supposed to be amazing and scoff at me when I say I've never watched it. So why is there hate for these guys doing Star Wars? I'm confused...
It was amazing while they still had book material to go off of. D&D had the bullet points for the ending from GRRM but once the show passed the books, they were the ones filling in the space between the bullet points and they did not do that great of a job. I dont think they did a terrible job like some do, and there were definitely some great moments but overall there was a measurable difference in quality from when they had source material to go off of and when they were writing it themselves
They did well when following the books and wrote some great dialogue but past 3 seasons or so have passed the books, they’ve gotten lazy and uninspired. Which I fear this lack of imagination and perhaps talent will spill over into SW.
