btw, Binge Mode hosts put TLJ as #4 and #1 on their current rankings, so you might wanna block and unsub, IV
Yep. The free year promo came about from Apple's iTunes people talking with Disney about how well their free trial promo with Verizon went.
I’m always willing to listen to other’s opinions, I just don’t think it’s a great movie and belongs around the bottom of the rankings
It was just a very brief ranking and explanation at this point, but as you're possibly aware, they'll get to the TLJ episode in a month or so, as late as mid-December before Rise of Skywalker comes out. I haven't been shy that I like it quite a bit, but ranking it #1 is wild even for me.
Does anyone know when the Disney+ app gets released? I have a feeling it will crash on November 12th.
Smells more and more like they’re turning this whole thing over to Feige last time Johnson was asked about his trilogy he was awfully vague whatever they do, just take your time imo
Apparently a big reveal in the first episode. https://www.cbr.com/mandalorian-star-wars-spoiler-first-episode/ My guess would be it's Boba Fett related.
would be shocked if it wasn't. Legacy series already mapped out how to reasonably bring him back from the sarlaac pit.
Yes and no. Is he an interesting character? Yes. Do we need a bunch of content about him? No. That’s part of what made him interesting, its what you didn’t know.
Works such as Dark Horse Comics' Dark Empire series (1991–1992), set six years after Return of the Jedi,[17] describe Fett escaping from the Sarlacc.[3]
Some of the EU was awesome. Some of it was awful. For the most part, when they went beyond Episode VI it went off the rails.
What has Boba Fett done that’s so great? Tracked the Falcon to Cloud City but was too bitchmade to capture Solo himself, then got knocked into the Sarlacc pit by a blind guy. Big whoop.
"there is still no consensus as to what Star Wars is and what Star Wars should be" is a scathing little line. I feel it though. The timeline is all over the place and it feels like they've only seen small gaps in the canon and stuffed some shit in there. Rogue One was executed well. Solo less so. It's just... you've got a block of the timeline from Anakin's childhood to Clone Wars to his ascendancy to Vader. Gap. Solo. Gap. Rogue to Return. Gap. Force Awakens to Rise of Skywalker. Some Ben Kenobi on Tatooine stuff will slot in where it slots in. It all feels disjointed. Even with the excessively large universe and unrelated storylines of the MCU, I can still follow the through line in a reasonably linear fashion. Star Wars hasn't pulled that off, even with characters crossing between "eras."
Nah we're going to be talking about it in here without spoilers. You'll know what happens second hand. It'll be great.
not try to pick up for Lucasfilm or anything, but fuck these guys so fucking hard. they have no creative vision.
To me it's simple, KK is a suit not a creative. She also fucked over George and the fans. Starting to think the Mandalorian's release date timing is cover for the shit burger that TROS will be.
the Mandalorian release date is tied to the launch of Disney+. I don't think it has anything to do with TROS.
Given what “creative vision” D&D showed when they didn’t have source material, I’m frankly shocked ANYONE would want them to have creative control over a Star Wars trilogy.
They could've made a Marvel show instead for the launch of Disney+ so TROS could shine solely in the spotlight leading up to release in December. I'm just saying it' was always weird timing plus more negative news from Lucasfilm has gotten the conspiracy theorist in me going.
Any time I start to feel bad for George Lucas, I watch the updated song and dance number from ROTJ along with whatever the hell he replaced Yub Nub with and then I don’t feel bad anymore.
You want a Marvel show to lead up to TROS on the release of their new streaming service? That makes very little business sense. If Disney+ dropped a week after Endgame, sure but we’re going to get The Mandolorian weekly(?) leading into the conclusion of the Skywalker saga. Makes perfect sense.
Im not as knowledgeable on the behind the scene / production stuff as most of you. But both can be true. GOT completely fell apart once they got past the source material. Perhaps it's a good thing they got dropped. It also seems like LucasFilm has an issue w directors. Theyve had to move on from the original directors in 2 of the 5 movies theyve made. One, pretty damn late in the game. Also Idk if bringing in another director to do reshoots of Rogue One is normal or not, so maybe 2.5 Ironically, I think the lack of 'corporate oversight' was the biggest error so far. I happened to like TLJ in a vacuum. However, it really threw a wrench in the story telling, it seems. The trilogy could have used more restrictions not less. At the same time, Solo was ok, but you could tell they were just trying to make a safe movie.
