TIL: Lucas' original cut of Star Wars not only featured Luke failing to blow up the Death Star the first time (which I knew) but also didn't even feature the Death Star attempting to blow up Yavin IV. The Death Star was originally just hanging out in space and the Rebels just snuck over and attacked it. Marcia Lucas (of course) said there needed to be stakes in the climax and they used previously-cut footage of Tarkin just before Alderaan was destroyed and some ADR to fake a whole third act plot point. I'm still reading the second comic series on Darth Vader through Comic Castle. Love it. Always a nice little surprise to myself when i remember it, go to the site, and have like 1-2 issues to read.
Binged all 10 episodes this week. I feel similar to how I did at the beginning of rebels. Not enough characters and not enough of a connection to the Jedi/war for me to really feel like I’m watching Star Wars. Throw in a mix of the new animation style makes it feel really kid-centric. If I was down on rebels originally and ended up loving it, I’m sure this will end up the same for me, it will just take time. 6/10 imo.
Sorry if I've already posted this on here. I tend to use a lot of my ramblings on here in articles I write, but I wanted to share this theory I have about Rey. I'm sure I'm not the first one to think but here it is: What if Rey was a creation of the Force just like Anakin was? Anakin was created by the Force in response to the stirring of Palpatine/the Sith after a millennia in hiding. The Force is all about balance, and as darkness rose, the Force created light in the form of Anakin. That's the prophesy of balance that Mace Windu spoke of in Episode I. Anakin was it, but fell because blah blah blah Lucas is a terrible writer you know how he fell. In the end he was redeemed and did defeat Palpatine which is why the Force created him in the first place. So what if Rey...is that all over again? What if she was created by the Force in response to the rise of evil found in Snoke/Ben. What if it's revealed in the next movie that her mother who carried her just as Shmi carried Anakin was forced to give this unexpected child up because she was a poor nobody living on Jakku and wouldn't have been able to take care of her. The timeline would be something like this: After Vader and Palpatine died, Luke was the last Jedi and he spent a decade or so hopping star systems, finding Jedi temples and just doing Jedi stuff. When Ben was born Luke sensed great Force power in him and trained him, as well as others he discovered over the years. Then Snoke stirred, planning to seize power. As he did, the Force (which has always had a non-temporal nature to it) moved to create a balance to counter the rise of darkness, and made Rey. Snoke seduced Ben to the darkside, Luke went into seclusion and the galaxy fell into darkness just like it did during the dark times. Finally the Force awoke in Rey and now put her on the path to defeat the darkside, just as it happened when the Force made Anakin. If that's Rey's true origin story then it's consistent with what Kylo said about her (albeit it's not as harsh), and it keeps her a "nobody" on a technical level. It doesn't make her the second-cousin, thrice-removed of Palpatine or Salacious Crumb's nephew's sister-in-law or something, but it does make her something akin to that, without the baggage that comes with a family tree. And what if the way she defeats the darkside (which is embodied by Kylo, not Snoke because, as TLJ made clear, Kylo is the big bad of this trilogy, not Snoke) is not to kill Kylo, as Vader (the first chosen one) killed the Emperor, but instead is to turn him back to the light. What if Rey (the second chosen one) redeems Ben Solo instead of kills him. That "rhymes" with what happened in the Original Trilogy but also mixes up the players and the roles enough to keep it fresh: Rey is Vader, not Kylo, the chosen one to stop the darkside. But Rey is also Luke, the hero who redeems the villain. Kylo is the Emperor, not Vader, the big bad needing to be stopped. But Kylo is also Vader, the bad guy who turns good in the end (probably dying to save Rey, but not before impregnating her!). That's my theory
I saw Anakin being the darkness rising as a response to the Jedi having a stranglehold I don’t hate the immaculate conception theory but would not like them to do that again

I think a lot of people would be disappointed and (never able to accept) that Rey’s parents were junk traders. Btw daisy ridley is so damn hot.
Help me out because I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I seem to remember a trailer for one of the 4 new movies that had a shot of some TIEs in front of a backdrop of a rising (or setting) sun. It had a very Apocalypse Now vibe to it. But I can't find it now. Am I making it up?
People talk shit about Rose and her line "that's how we'll win. Not by fighting the things we hate but saving the ones we love" but that is literally what Luke does in the throne room fight against Vader. He continually tell Vader "I will not fight you, father" up until Vader discovers Luke sister. Like then goes apeshit on Vader to protect and save his sister.
That line felt shoe horned in to give Rose an arc. Luke is actually shown going through that arc over the progression of 3 movies and the audience didn't need to be hammered over the head with a dumb line to know it. Rose suddenly loves Finn after literally just meeting him. Doesn't feel earned. Like the entire Rose character.

Her motivation for hating the first order is fine but other than that she’s a poorly written character. I understand Rian was trying to go for parallel arcs of younger people finally meeting idol figures in person and being disappointed, but a lot of Rose’s decisions were cringe-inducing.

Soooo, the ending of that last Vader comic. Was that a big reveal/confirmation, or was that already accepted as cannon? I know fans have discussed it a lot, but wasn’t sure if that was official until now.
I think it was more insinuated that said. So i dont Think it’s set in stone. However it wasn’t officially canon.
It was hinted at in the Plageus novel that’s not canon anymore. The comic kinda did the same thing. Except in the novel it was more like they were fuckimg around experimenting and it just happened. In the comic it seems more intentional
Its backed up by the opera conversation many people have used as speculation on the past. That said, it is a force vision and those aren't always entirely reliable.
