was fist pumping in the last scene in the cockpit
Folks, was some good mando.
Now I have to refresh my clone wars knowledge a smidge.
It’ll get dusty when Ahsoka finally shows up. When she meets and hugs Commander Rex I’m gonna white girl sloppy cry. No shame.
Use a spoiler you drunk
My b. Even though it’s just my fairy tail head canon with no real basis.
oh I get it. But goes along with today
Started reading From A Certain Point of View: ESB
Only 6-7 stories in. At least 3 of them have rank and file rebels ripping on Han and Leia for being annoying w all the cat and mouse flirting on Hoth
Are new episodes released at midnight?
Eh... filler episode before Filoni's. Carl Weathers got his Director credit and felt like he wanted to give himself the most attention. But at least it acknowledges Moff and loving Giancarlo being an endgame Boss this season it seems
Next week is going to be LIT!
The undeleted scenes were also awful.
I really enjoyed latest ep of Mando
That’s obviously Snoke in the tank
I don’t want to start this again, but that TLJ deleted scene reminded of how stupid that movie could be at times.
It had good moments, but the OJ space chase, Leia Poppins, Rose, Benecio, Holdo - horrible.
I still remember being in a sold out theater opening night and I’d say 30 percent of the audience were embarrassingly laughing at the Leia flying scene.
And then they went out and made a worse movie to follow up
The entire new trilogy sucked. It had promise, but TFA was sloppy in not answering questions, and Rian just doing his own thing for TLJ, and then Abrams thinking he had to apologize to the fans for TROS.
You didn’t even need Palpatine, but here we are.
The TLJ haters
It’s the most frustratingly uneven movie in the franchise
I’ve rewatched TLJ since seeing in the sold-out theater in New Orleans that night. I’ve tried to give it a chance, and yes - there are indeed moments, sequences that are really good.
But - there’s a scene in Canto Bight where Rose has let out the horses, and is telling Finn her life story. I had this thought in the theater and still do, and it is -
I don’t want your backstory (Rose), I want to know more about Finn’s!
Then there was that awful shot of Rose’s sister pressing the detonator, and her face is laying on the cross hatching floor watching the bombs drop. Ok - any face laying like that would be smushed and disfigured. It looked like she was floating above the floor.
I still wonder if we ever would have seen Palpatine again if RJ didn’t kill Snoke. I also think it could have affected Rey’s lineage.
not blaming RJ just pointing out how poorly planned the entire trilogy was.
Questions that were never answered for me -
1. Where and how did Anakin/Luke lightsaber from Bespin resurface?
2. Who is Snoke? Backstory? No, he just got chopped in half.
3. Finn and Poe backstory? No, just have them accompany other characters. Got it.
Killing Snoke was awesome and a big character moment for Kylo. TROS failed it.
I will say I really enjoyed the team chemistry between Rey, Finn and Poe in TROS. I thought that was a big plus for that movie, and that’s the dynamic we should have gotten in TLJ.
TLJ ended with the most complex and compelling character becoming Supreme Leader and ready to have the final film of the trilogy be the story of his either redemption or ultimate defeat.
TROS shit all over it.
Asking someone from Alderaan if they lost anyone? Come on. Tighten it up fellas.
I took it as he knew what the answer likely was but was trying to get an emotional response to what he was asking her to do.
It just strikes me as bad writing. Someone asks a question like that in real life and the best response they are going to get is a glare. Be true to your universe.
I don’t know about that. Everyone was a good response. Plus it makes her a bit more mysterious. Did she leave because of it?
Who asks that though? And if someone does ask that, how do they not stumble through an awkward apology? It’s not good dialogue.
If she was there she'd be vapor.
At that point everyone had lost someone hence bringing up her service record.
I should have been more specific. I meant her leaving the resistance because of alderan.
you think military recruiters in europe during WW2 asked people if they lost anyone to the Nazis?
She was a soldier for the rebellion until after RotJ; she left because shes a fighter not a diplomat.
asking anyone from a planet that has been blown up if they lost anyone
This is kind of a dumb tangent.
Not that there’s anything else SW to discuss but if you want to avoid spoilering everything, discuss it in the Mando thread imo.
In non Mando news - finished From a Certain Point of View: Empire Strikes Back this morning. There were some pretty good stories but I didnt like it as much as the one for A New Hope.
Mando doesn’t have the best writing.
The storytelling is fine. The dialogue is frequently clunky & too self serious.
Let’s face it, Star Wars has never been Shakespeare
I don’t mind the dialogue, it works for the type of show that it is. Now the sound mixing does need fixed. You have to turn it way up to hear the dialogue and then you go deaf when the shooting starts
That’s a little drastic. Shakespeare? Cmon.
It's been pulp since its inception
Not gonna be nitpicky or pedantic about my space samurai monk wizard series that I’ve loved for decades
