Spoiler Did anyone else hear Rey and Kylo Ren's voices in Ezra's space time continuum thing? I think it was them but not 100% sure.
there’s literal time travel portals all over the galaxy and it’s never brought up afterwards? you can potentially stop palpatine before any blood is shed and no Jedi tried to do so before? stupid as hell
Well, yeah. Because this is part of the Cosmic Force. I thought that was clear when she said it. Also obvious when we started dealing with the Father, Son, and Daughter again.
Doesn’t seem like it was something they were really aware of. There was no actual record of it in the Jedi temple on Coruscant, as stated by the Minister. Could just be something lost to the Jedi many, many generations ago. Lothal was one of the early temples, iirc. And the loth-wolves seem like they protect it pretty well. Like it’s not just something anyone can use just to fast-travel or stupid shit.
And who is around to bring it up after? We don’t know where Ezra and Ahsoka end up after this next episode but the easy guess it “ not around because they aren’t ever mentioned as part of the Rebellion”. So who besides them knows what that temple held?
The Cosmic Force (already a hokey construct on top of the plain old Force) was explained as how masters could become Force ghosts; nothing suggesting shit like this was doable.
Really poor writing to introduce a game breaking mechanism at this point in the show only to render it useless to the rest of the story through the last two episodes.
Oh. Is that all we learned from the Mortis arc of Clone Wars. I had no idea those episodes were boiled down to just that.
Seriously, this is the same conversation from after TLJ. We only know about the parts and pieces of the Force that we’ve seen and heard about. That does not preclude anyone from expanding our knowledge of the ways of the Force.
I didn’t mind it at all. It was the first time that we know of that anyone was actually able to access it and the access point on Lothal was destroyed. I assume the emperor was only able to access it due to Ezra being on the other side of the point.
Those uses have to be logical within the context of who wields them, what is reasonable based upon other uses of the Force, and in what context they are used, or else I think it's fair to criticize them as poorly contrived gimmicks written for people who will eat up shit because it's new and shocking.
But what's the point of it as a matter of story writing if it is, after the Rebels finale, forever irrelevant to the universe?
Do we know that it’s forever irrelevant to the universe? One thing I’ve noted with the story group is the constant throughline that concepts are introduced that while they may not immediately pay off, it opens up new elements for other filmmakers, authors, etc to pick up and tell a new story.
I’ll admit I’m usually against time travel as a storytelling trope but with the lothal temple destroyed I was okay with it this go around
A big fuck you to this episode for creating the canonical basis for a reboot, then. This episode crossed time travel with the two worst inventions of Clone Wars. No thank you.
There has got to be some better way to flesh out the complexities of the Force so that when a kids' cartoon deploys a new, incredible power for the first time, it seems less contrived/ridiculous
no it’s not. i loved TLJ. luke’s “new” powers don’t have insane consequential impact on the galaxy like a gateway to a time traveling portal
I thought it was in about a year? Who knows though. They’ve had the last two seasons of rebels done for a while so maybe we’ll get something else in the meantime.
Yea. This shit gets done way in advance and then released slowly. Benefits of voice acting. A whole lot less to get right before wrapping the episode.
well, they just got through trademarking Star Wars Resistance. May be for something completely different, but would make sense if the next series mirrors the Rebels set up but is set during the time between Jedi and TFA with a Resistance group. Might even lead to spot cameos from Han, Luke, and Leia that would make the series more high profile, which I'm sure Disney wants for the streaming service.
