It was a very broad and vague comment. Personally, I think "we" was referring to Maul and Savage. But it very well could mean Maul and Kenobi. Wither way, it was a good end to Maul.
I'm actually really upset that Obi Wan did not give us a "Hello there". There was a perfect opportunity for it.
Obi Wan even baited Maul into the move by assuming the Qui Gon saber stance. It was perfect. This is a guy who's been meditating on the force in the desert for 15 years. He was in complete control. It actually adds to the ANH Vader fight quite a bit; I think he was in complete control of that fight and baited Vader perfectly. He might have been able to take Vader out there but he knew that wouldn't stop the Emperor, so he puts on the show for Luke.
Same. Everyone was a pawn in Palpatine's game, and it left all of them to recalibrate their role and purpose in the galaxy.
One of the nerdy podcasts I listened to pointed out that Obi-Wan defeated Maul when he was a mere Padawan. Not crazy to think he could easily defeat him now that he is a great jedi master.
It also puts into perspective levels everyone are. Kanaan, the Inquisitors, ect were no match for Maul.
Obi-Wan is probably top 3 all time lightsaber duelist in current canon. Dude singlehandedly beat Maul, Grievous and Vader. We're surely getting a McGregor Obi-Wan film. If we get a Boba Fett film before that, I'll be upset.
Inquisitors were a waste of time. I understand it was their way of introducing some Force sensitive and light saber stuff without having to use Vader or Maul, but they were like dark side lite.
I never really liked them. Kind of cheapens the force. Maybe down the road they can fill in some back story to make them more impactful, but as they are now- meh.
I thought this as well. Asked FPJ about it on his last twitch stream. Apparently that wasn't the case. The guy who directed that episode is apparently really into old samauri movies and most final battles ended really quickly in those films and he wanted to replicate that with the final kenobi v. Mail battle
VIII supposedly going to have samurai influences as well, which makes sense since that was part of Lucas' inspiration.
Yeah that was mentioned in the Rebels Recon and was one of the things and made me rethink my initial disappointment
Rebels question - The show is nearing the timeline of ANH. Have producers or writers publicly stated how long the series will continue? I think you're going to see other characters from Rebels run their course abruptly (Maul) once they encroach timelines. Also that Ezra character still sucks. He sticks out like a sore thumb and is more of a distraction to the arc than anything. Make him a martyr or something.
No. There has been no public timeline. Most speculate it doesn't more than 5 seasons. Some even think next will be the last.
well, they said Luke in that episode was 17 and he's 19 in ANH, so in show time they have less than 2 years before Rogue One/ANH. I would think season 5 is it.
Luke, from my perspective, looked as if he was a child (not a teenager) in the Rebels clip we saw of him running to the house.
That's how it looked to me as well, but Pablo said that kid was 17. I guess Luke hit a late growth spurt
I'm stuck on Ezra falling to the Dark Side. Kanan kills him and goes into exile, or they both die in the fight. Ezra is far too headstrong, rash, emotional and just all around not good. He's got good intentions, but just too much of an idiot.
Ezra and Kanan go back to tatooine to try to recruit Obi-Wan, and while just casually walking along a dune, get eaten by a hidden Sarlacc.
Then they chill for a few years, wait for Boba Fett to drop in, then the 3 make their escape, and there's your anthology film
So ive been nerding out big time. Re watched the fight scene and I missed so many subtle things. When Obi-wan switches from his stance to Qui-Gon's, Maul's eyes get really wide and switches his stance slightly as if he thinks he's got him. So well done. Also - this was a really good convo on Twin Suns and it's place in the larger story.
Yall are so into this you prefer a lack of pure action packed entertainment? I enjoyed the battles with those guys.
the battles are much more enjoyable when they have meaning behind them. this is a bit of hyperbole, but I probably enjoyed that 15 second Kenobi Maul battle more than 90% of the Anakin Obi Wan excessive saber waving extravaganza.
Everyone, please observe a moment of silent reflection and appreciation: On this day in 1976, Star Wars began filming.
The end of Rebels is so intriguing. Hard to see a way Ezra and Kanaan can survive and justify how they weren't apart of the story in ANH and after. At the same time, it's hard to imagine a children's show killing off it's main protagonist. Can't wait to see how it all shapes out.
I love how more and more this line shows Luke's naivete. Tatooine witnesses a bunch of shit that ripples across the entire galaxy. But poor little dirt farming Luke can't go have adventures because he's got chores to do.
Also, Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru obviously didn't want him to associate with that crazy old wizard Ben, much less end up like his father.
Also of course at the time it was written, Tatooine was a middle of nowhere town. It was the ultimate Kansas for Dorothy to be swept away from.
