http://www.ew.com/article/2016/06/29/star-wars-mace-windu-samuel-l-jackson Star Wars: Samuel L. Jackson says Mace Windu is still alive (Lucasfilm) Star Wars Posted June 30 2016 — 9 PM EDT Mace Windu was such a badass. Whether he was decapitating Jango Fett with his purple lightsaber or deflecting Emperor Palpatine’s lightning, the dude was one of the Old Republic’s last lines of defense against the Dark Side. So it was a damn shame when an easily-manipulated Anakin went and chopped Windu’s arm off, and then the Emperor dropped him out of a tower via the Force. But the man who played Mace, Samuel L. Jackson, says not to mourn the loss of the Jedi Master in Star Wars: Episode III—Revenge of the Sith. Because according to Jackson, Windu is still alive! He said so himself in a recent social media Q&A with fans. 24 Jun Angelica Ravenstein @starwarsgirl1 #IMDbAskSamJackson Who's idea was it to kill Mace Windu? Just curious. He's a great character. Samuel L. Jackson ✔@SamuelLJackson .@starwarsgirl1 #IMDbAskSamJackson We then asked Jackson about his theory/wishful thinking that Mace was still alive when he stopped by Entertainment Weekly Radio (SiriusXM, channel 105) on Wednesday morning to chat with us on EW Morning Live and here’s what he had to say. “Of course he is! Jedi can fall from amazing distances. And there’s a long history of one-handed Jedi. So why not?” So what then has Mace been up to since falling out of Palpatine’s tower — laying low like Obi-Wan did on Tatooine? “Exactly,” says Jackson. Has the actor shared his views with the creative forces behind theStar Wars franchise? “Only George [Lucas],” says Jackson. “But George doesn’t have anything to do with it anymore.” And what was Lucas’ reaction? “George is like, ‘I’m okay with that. You can be alive.” So seeing as how George Lucas has dominion over the events in the first two Star Wars trilogies, and told Jackson that he is cool with it, does that mean that Mace Windu in fact survived Revenge of the Sith? Chew on that while you listen to the awesome SoundCloud clip above as Jackson talks about landing the part of Mace Windu (and having no idea who he was playing until he showed up on set) and pitching George Lucas on having a purple lightsaber.
it doesn't really matter since Disney is treating the PT like a plague so he won't appear in anything big. He might show up in comics/books/Rebels, though.
I really don't want him to show up because I don't know what purpose he serves. He was never THAT interesting or important of a character.
Maul's eventual storyline in CW and Rebels is enjoyable. It's just the fact that they brought him back in the first place. I'm sure there could have been some way to develop that same storyline without resurrecting a clearly dead character.
I wasn't huge on Clone Wars in the first place so it didn't take much for me to check out. I'll see myself to the unpopular opinions thread.
Windu was a terrible character in the PT. a combination of terrible writing by Lucas and acting to match by Jackson. Basically, a curmudgeon with no real redeeming qualities. Mean to a little orphan the minute he meets him, and stuck up basically through the end. Should have been so awesome with that purple lightsaber but God he sucked. You suck, Lucas.
It will be a rather giant feat to topple Star Wars: The Force Awakens, theatrical trailer. But here's the question: The new Rogue One trailer; do we see Darth Vader?
Yeah, I don't need any action shots or actually any shots of him at all. Just a voice over. I'm still hoping that his appearance is more like Luke's in TFA, but with reports of multiple actors and Vader costumes, I guess he's going to have a larger part than I'd hoped.
Think we are going to finally see why he is so feared by the Rebellion AND so adored by the stormtroopers.
Finally finished Aftermath. Second half was substantially better but ultimately felt pointless other than telling us the empire wasn't completely destroyed and ventured out beyond mapped space.
It was assumed we were getting a new Rogue One trailer at Celebration. It's confirmed now - ABC is airing a special on TFA that includes the trailer on July 15th (same day as the Celebration panel). Now the question is if they will release the trailer online after the panel (6-7 hours before this special)
they can either release it online in pristine quality, or spend the afternoon chasing bootlegs down with dumb cease and desists.
pretty sure it was Celebration last year where people were literally live-casting with their phones from the audience during the Episode VII panel. One would get shut down and another would pop up. One lasted pretty long by a guy getting in by the media/camera section and stayed up for a long time without getting shut down.
You're right. I was confusing with D23. The shots of the crowd reacting to the 2nd trailer were awesome.
no, it was up after the fact. Only way to watch it live was from people there doing it against the rules.
No I remember watching a legit stream on the SW site because I was watching on work computer. When trailer started they routed feed directly to trailer.
that's right, but wasn't it pretty much impossible to get the streams going? I remember following a site that kept popping up the Periscopes because the main stream got hammered so hard most people couldn't get it through the legit channels.
Good news - they're streaming Celebration again this year. The Rogue One panel is confirmed. Hopefully the Rebels and Future Filmmakers panels will be as well.
