Yep that's a good thing. They'll bring it back as in-game purchases for cosmetic and other non-gameplay enhancements. Win/Win The scandal had gotten way out of control for EA. European governments (France and one other I dont remember...Belguim?) released a statement saying they were looking into classfying "loot boxes" as a form of online gambling. That would have made the game virtually unsellable. The last thing Disney wants is their Star Wars IP being linked to child-gambling scandal a month before The Last Jedi launched. EA probably got a call from Mickey Mouse telling them they would cancel their exclusive contract if they didn't fix it. And if anyone has the legal muscle to follow through with that threat it's Disney.
Wife whipped her head around at the music when I started Battlefront and asked if we were starting a rewatch before TLJ. Guess we are now
I already gave money to EA for EA Access. Get 10 hour trial of the full game. I won’t be buying, not out of protest, just that I don’t really enjoy shooters. Didn’t even finish my 10 hour trial of the first one
God damn it. I bought it and I haven’t installed it. Sitting on th couch Looking at it like it’s herion. I know I’ll love it but it’s the god damn devil.
Dude, get the fuck over it. I don't care. I look at it as I get 4 hours of an interactive Star Wars story. If it was 1 hour, I'd still look at it the same. After I finish the campaign, I'm going to enjoy pew pewing in multiplayer.
I thought the campaign was great, but too short for a video game. It was a little bit Dark Forces, a little bit Rogue Squadron, a little bit Force Unleashed. It just needed to be 12 hours or more. That's the standard length for a single player game worth $60. If EA had built a whole game around that, it would have been the best star wars game maybe ever. I hate that EA hates single player games.
I'm playing the trial. The game looks and sounds amazing, the gameplay is a lot of fun. Don't know if I'll still pull the trigger, but this shit is fun.
I can stomach Episode II even though it’s bad. Episode I I skip most watch throughs and if I don’t, I sit and wonder why I don’t turn it off. I don’t want to get into everything that’s terrible about the prequels but I just kept thinking, why is Padme so much older than Anakin here but seem pretty close in age during Episode II, that doesn’t make any sense and we really should’ve skipped any child Anakin
Are they going to suddenly start charging for DLC, after promising that all DLC will be free? So I play this campaign for a few hours, then I enjoy multiplayer for a few weeks. Then I get to enjoy a few more hours of campaign and some new multiplayer shit.
Agree. This whole situation is a microcosm of what's good and bad about the internet. Microtransactions suck and rightfully so people are upset about them, which likely will enact some positive change. However, if you were expecting anything beyond 4 hours of campaign mode in a primarily advertised PVP/Shooter game then I'm not sure what to say. The game is beautiful. I get to "Luke we're gonna have company" with my friends in my favorite franchise on cool worlds and further my love for this universe. Maybe my standards are low? Shit, just have fun with it or chalk it up as a bad purchase.
at no point do I want to think that Darth Vader ever said Yippee! Spoiler However without episode I, we wouldn’t have John Williams’ Duel of the Fates
Don’t post much in here, but just finished the battlefront campaign and really liked the story. Don’t know much about the universes other than the movies. I thought it was pretty interesting to see the bits and pieces of events leading from return of the Jedi to TFA. Was that based on books, or was it written for the game? the next part of the story comes with the big lead up event to the next movie. Anyone know if it’s supposed to bridge the first and second movies of the new trilogy? Or is it concurrent?
It's a new story No one knows what the next part of the story will be but it ties to TLJ somehow which is why they held it back
Finished Battlefront 2 campaign in 2 sittings (mostly meh), I'm reading the Leia book now, will read the Luke Skywalker tall tales book over Thanksgiving, considering reading the Phasma book before the release. I'm officially in the febrile fervor leading up to a release of one of these.
Interested to see where Phasma goes in the story. They really angled on her self-preservation quite a bit in the book.
Episode 1 gets more hate than it should imo, outside of Jar Jar and child Anakin, it's not terrible. Whereas Episode 2 had no redeeming quality other than Natalie Portman as eye candy.
Ep1 is only good in comparison to Ep2. Under no metric should it be considered a "good movie" and at best it's "not as bad as the train wreck sequel"
Yeah but Jar Jar was in the entire thing. It’s kinda hard to just write him off and say people would look at it differently without him. People would view the prequels better if they had a better script. This is also true
This is a good take. Lost in the hate for it, the pod race was just great Star Wars fun. The movie introduced more species and worlds, which is always cool. And despite what people think, there wasn't really that much CGI in it. It was good, not great.
Episode I is what it is, but I'll fucking fight anyone who would celebrate us never getting to meet Qui Gon. It obviously has major problems, as does II (and III for that matter), but it's not all shit. There are good, even great things embedded in those movies. It's a decades old conversation, but it's the perfect example of Lucas being capable of the greatness we saw in the OT but needing people around him to reign him in on the shitty ideas he has, too.
I want Rian to use some PT lore, themes, etc to tie the trilogies together for the overall story of the saga........ to piss off PT haters too. Rian is a huge PT fan btw. I'd love to see Hayden as a force ghost of Anakin to get some redemption.
You are going to just have to accept that the things said in any given movie don't actually matter. When you accept that, you can enjoy the saga even more, because you can embrace it all.
Pod Race needed to happen to build the natural force within Anakin. I think it still seemed pretty damn back water. Mos Eisley was a decent size town, and Mos Espa did not seem completely out of place to me for my idea of Backwater planets. Pretty rural considering the speed and distance traveled through nothingness in the pod race.
