For #MayThe4thBeWithYou, we're excited to confirm that #StarWarsJediFallenOrder will have its gameplay reveal this June at EA Play and E3! More details to come!
Disney just revealed a bunch of new release dates with the highlight being that three new, yet-to-be-titled Star Wars movies will be released every other December starting in 2022. Benioff and Weiss are in preproduction now and shoot start shooting in the fall. So they're probably the first ones up in 2022. That means we're looking at this: December 2019 - The Rise of Skywalker December 2020 - Avatar 2 December 2021 - Avatar 3 December 2022 - B&W Star Wars movie 1 December 2023 - Avatar 4 December 2024 - B&W Star Wars movie 2 December 2025 - Avatar 5 December 2026 - B&W Star Wars movie 3 December 2027 - ??? (50-Year anniversary of A New Hope) December 2028 - Rian Johnson Star Wars movie 1 December 2029 - ??? December 2030 - Rian Johnson Star Wars movie 2 December 2031 - ??? December 2032 - Rian Johnson Star Wars movie 3 whew B&W and RJ are working together on the next generation of Star Wars movies. That doesn't mean their two trilogies will follow each other or be set in the same time period, but that they're working together to hammer out the next saga's worth of stories
I’ll be surprised if those RJ movies end up happening And if B&W really are in pre-pro already then they really gave zero fucks about GoT
At what point would B&W have finished their work for GoT? How much lead in time is needed before pre-production for their SW project?
fsuNizz My understanding is that Pre pro means at the very least they know what the movie will be and generally how it will play out, if not an entire script is done if it’s shooting in the fall. I’d guess casting is ramping up soon if it hasn’t already
Yeah, and they made a fucking sweet ride out of it, too. Even my wife, who hates anything fantastical thought it was one of the best theme park attractions she’s ever been on.
Pre pro can be so broad though. the project is in the works, ramping up the script hiring the director, location scouting, budgets, etc.
So much truth in all of this. I think the Johnson films depend on how well last Jedi ages over the years. So far not good.
Honestly I’d give RJ a shot but his script would need extra review (i.e. a “your mom” joke within the first 5 minutes is not a good start and canto bight woof)
Crazy they are waiting until 2028 for the Rian Johnson film. Giving people plenty of time to forget about TLJ.
Twice. I think it could age well because it visually looks so vastly different from the other Star Wars films. Who knows, it may go down as the “avant-garde” of Star Wars films, and down the road someone who’s watching the films for the time you’ll hear, “yeah the last Jedi is cool, very different.” On another note: the two times I’ve seen it I still do not like: 1. The O. J. Never-ending space chase 2. A lot of Canto Bight. 3. Rose — I get it, Kathleen Kennedy wants to make money in the Asian markets. Give her an Asian character. I wasn’t invested.
It’s a shame bc the movie has fucking awesome moments (opening battle, Rey/Kylo fight, Light speed destruction, Luke force projection) Honestly I think RJ is a better fit for doing his own thing and would’ve been better off doing one of the spinoffs
Not sure there's a person on this planet who can defend the mess that was Canto Bight. Your point about its visual differences is weirdly one of the reasons I find it so endearing. I suppose for comparison's sake, Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite HP movie because it was so wildly "out there," really taking a chance with something that could just be so formulaic. Being different for different's sake doesn't a good movie make (or whatever, you get it), but I respect the vision and enjoyed getting something I didn't expect from Luke, from the Kylo/Rey distance interactions, etc. I like TLJ several times more than TFA, which I like, sure, but it had zero original thought.
I'm not sure. There are parts of the story that flat out don't make sense. A lot of his stuff did look visually stunning but when you break it down has a ton of flaws like the throne room fight.
Say what you want about Luke’s arc, but he didn’t have to die in episode 8. You could have ended it with Luke collapsing on the rock and not showing the rest. However I’ve heard the argument it’s not about him anymore, he was disenfranchised with the Jedi order, it would not have made sense for him to come back and kick ass, etc etc.
Is this a safe place for Rian Johnson >>>>>>> JJ Abrams takes? I do agree that they should have had just one person do the whole trilogy because its choppy as fuck but I'm genuinely concerned for how cookie cutter basic this last one is going to be. Also based off of these last two seasons of GOT I want 0 parts of a D&D trilogy
hey the navi river ride has some badass animatronics. They kind of make riding pirates look like crap afterward
A three year hiatus between the next two? JFC Rian Johnson really fvcked this franchise into the ground as well as the fans. That’s crazy. I guess they are totally doing away with the side stories? Those are the best ones....
The ride is stunning but feels empty. There is no story or anything. Just really amazing animatronics and scenery then it's over.
Smart of D&D to sign up for a universe where the fans are already used to being shit on and disrespected
Lion King Show, Tough to be a bug, can both be done without a fast pass. Finding Nemo show has AC but it's pretty brutal. Dinosaur ride usually needs a fastpass, but it's got AC as well.
The biggest con GRRM ever pulled was convincing readers that he developed a coherent story that had an end Don’t forget about the new content on Disney+
I have zero expectations for IX. Safest way to approach it. I agree RJ is better as a director but “subverting expectations” alone doesn’t make something good.
lol at these pussy fans complaining about a few years between TROS and the next Star Wars. Bitch I went from 1984-1999 for a new Star Wars, and what did I get for my waiting? The Phantom Fucking Menace. You merely adopted the disappointment. I was born into it. Molded by it. I didn't know Star Wars happiness until I was already a man.
I remember the denial after 1st and 2nd TPM viewing But boy downloading that first preview on dial up Internet was nerve wracking
Oh man, I just wrote an article about that very thing. Dial up internet, downloading that magical first teaser. It's still an amazing teaser-trailer. You'd never know the film itself was such a mess.
