Super late to this party, but I went to the bowling alley on Montford last night for the first time since I was in high school and it was just dingy old George Pappas Lanes. Quite a transformation.
hey i was right across the street but yeah i have recommended that to friends before and they act like i am crazy. they have two bars and it's just a nice set up
Best thing about the CLT beer market is how locally focused it is. Think about it, 20+ breweries in the metro area that basically only serve Meck County. So much demand locally these guys don't even think about distributing across the state...
Yea the amount of good local beers is crazy, plus they do get a lot of stuff in from Asheville and other surrounding areas. Asheville Brewing Company had one called Ninjabread Man that I really liked. Then another good local Charlotte beer was Birdsong MexiCali Stout. Hard to go wrong.
this is true. always impressed by how many iowa fans show up. been there for brunch before and it is always packed in the fall even for noon games
Just tried that at Hattie's Tap & Tavern, very tasty. Also an under the radar beer spot if you're in NoDa/PM ...
Great spot for a low key beer. Also if you're a dog owner you can bring your dog in on leash, tap room style sorta. It's become the neighborhood for me vs the more popular joints in NoDa/PM ...
So now I'm at this place in Pineville called "Pintville." Fun place. I really, really wish I could translate this concept in Colorado. Fucking stupid laws.
On the wings front, rediscovered the bee stings at Moosehead Grill. Never been a huge wings guy, but gat damn those suckers have changed my whole perspective. Stopping by every couple weeks now...
My roommate and I were talking about taking his dog out to the new dog bar in West Charlotte tomorrow to have some beers and let it run, well apparently the dog bar is having a beer fest tmw- http://luckydogbarkandbrew.com/event/2017-winter-beer-fest/?instance_id=36
Anyone been to Heist lately? That Not from Concentrate line of juicy IPAs is unreal. Which is crazy because I was told they used to have shit beer.
They changed their brewer about 1 year ago. All into NE IPAs now. Very good if you like that style. Have some other decent beers. Much better beer. They also switched out their chef and the food isn't quite as good, IMO
Apparently their beers trade for ridiculous stuff on BA. My cousin is on it a lot, and people were offering Heady haha
Heard the same, although I had their food for the first time a couple weeks ago and it didn't disappoint, but I didn't have a benchmark on their previous chef. The beer is unreal, but I'm a sucker for those NE IPAs.
crowder mountain is a nice hike my buddy and i took our pups yesterday and then sat and drank on the back porch of brazwells. nice little day
Coronado tap takeover tonight at Custom Home Pubs. $15 for a pint glass of Coronado and all you can drink for 3 hours.

It was p good. I didn't get pizza. Had two different types of pasta and some meatballs. Probably the best pasta and meatballs I've ever had. It's near Ardrey Kell HS. Some people I was on the trip with got pizza and said it was really good. The pizzas are then but gigantic. Pretty good prices for a local place.
Some folks also got ice cream or milk shakes. Those were also met with rave reviews. Literally everything anyone had there was top notch, basically. Their menu says the Charlotte Observer rated it the best pizzeria in South Charlotte in 2009, not really sure how relevant that is 8 years later but I would certainly think they would still be in the conversation. http://www.lorenzos-pizzeria.com/LorenzosMenu.pdf
We also went to Buca Di Beppo in Pineville for dinner the night before. Was good stuff, more pasta and bread. Pasta wasn't as good as Lorenzo's, but still good. However, the chicken parm was
Can appreciate if you were staying out near ballantyne/pineville that those places were about as good as you were going to do, but Charlotte has much, much better to offer if you're ever closer to uptown.
Who was it that was singing the praises of McCoys wings? I'm looking to pick up ~40 wings for some basketball on Saturday. Was just gonna get a bunch of bee stings from moosehead but I recall someone saying McCoys was legit. Was thinking of branching out.
