I've had good (not great) experiences food-wise at Cellar. The scenery each time was exquisite and the drink selection is hard to beat. Since ned's head won't be having drinks though, there may be better options. A couple more potential places in uptown proper: - Roosters (I've always loved this place. Hanger steak rare is off the chain). - Fin and Fino - it's a new place by the Duke Energy building. Check it out if you want seafood. I'm going to Eddie V's tonight and I expect I'll be overwhelmingly unimpressed.
Recent convo got me thinking. Even with all the new upscale restaurants opening up, I still think the best food in Charlotte is from the hole in the wall joints. Give me a scratch cooked meal from Alexander Michael's or Moosehead all day vs paying up for a place like 5 Church
Love Moosehead but Alexander Michael's was pretty underwhelming both times I ate there. Agree completely with your premise though .
My friend just left Heist to start bartending there. Not sure if that's and indication of what to expect of Superica or if Heist is really just really shitty these days. She was there for years ...
Really interested to see what you think. I've always thought the branding on that place screamed TGI Fridays rather than high end steakhouse.
It was actually pretty good overall. The buildout was nice and the bulleit old fashioned I continued to get was excellent. Steak was decent, certainly not great. Truffle Mac and cheese was really good. Brussel sprouts sucked. Oysters were good. All in all better than I expected. I’d go back
Cheap as hell round trip to Seattle https://slickdeals.net/f/11702979-r...tle-wa-or-vice-versa-125-travel-sept-nov-2018
May be coming up for a quick trip his weekend, give me all your restaurant suggestions go (bonus points if you have an option for my vegetarian fiancée.)
Heading to Charlotte this weekend and next week to do Great Wolf Lodge and Carowinds. Any other cool family stuff to do?
You can go by The Trust Condos in Uptown. Cam and MJ have a condo there. Most just live in random neighborhoods in South Charlotte and in the Peninsula on Lake Norman.
The planned future roommate bailed on living together (job op in Charleston). I've been looking at moving up there with my dog and was hoping to pay under $1k in rent, while being semi close to South End and still having enough space in the apartment to work from home. Obviously I'll hit zillow and research more but you folks have any guidance or good/bad/ugly reviews? Thanks cheers
I would focus on Craigslist/Zillow/Nextdoor cause I dont think you'll have a ton of luck for $1k with the new build apartments, unless you're open to a studio. On Zillow now does seem like theres a lot of duplexes or 2 bed 1 ba bungalow options in that price range. So no amenities but can probably get a yard for the dog. I'd just follow the light rail from uptown to Tyvola, anything the pops up on that path you'll be good
Just got back from Charlotte. Had a great time! Stayed 1 night at Ballantyne Hotel (awesome pool) Then stayed 2 nights at Great Wolf in Conchord (with the MAGAs) Then stayed at Hampton Inn close to Carowinds. Kids loved Big Rock, which was fucking weird because it’s in the middle of a subdivision. Carowinds was awesome, but simply too much to do in one day. Took Bank of America stadium tour, got to see new owner’s suite. My wife made us creep on the Avett Bros home. Everyone was sweet and friendly Your road conditions suck mainly because NC apparently puts all their tax money into building the nicest collection of police stations I’ve ever seen. Hepatitis A in Hardee’s??? Gross.
Yikes! But seriously, driving around the area I saw at least 3-4 super nice looking police stations. Wife started calling them pig palaces.
I cross the border for work every day and difference is amazing. Stevie Wonder would know when he crossed the state line if he had my commute.
My new spot to watch baseball now that I'm a bit closer to 4th Ward/Uptown. Also, by JeremyLambsFace I am talking about the real JeremyLambsFace. Not TMB JeremyLambsFace ...
Not a shot. Like all three. You are aware that King’s kitchen is run by the exact same guy as roosters? Eat at the roosters uptown way too much too really love it.
Jim Noble also opening up some sort of bakery called Copain and a BBQ place called Noble’s Smokehouse.
