Reportedly a big point of contention between the two...Griff didnt' want to trade Kyrie; while Gilbert was cool with it. Is Gilbert going to be the owner who ran LBJ out of Cleveland...twice? And of course the obvious route to take from here is Chauncey Billups. Whelp boys...it was a good run.
Think the Kyrie thing is just people throwing shit out there. Ridiculous stuff gets said this time of year. I believe LeBron knew
Does trading Love for Butler really make us that much better - or - that much closer to GS? I'd much rather have George.
Here’s a snippet of Joe Cowley‘s report from Tuesday morning. According to multiple sources in Cleveland, not only have Cavaliers players – including LeBron James and Kyrie Irving – been reaching out to Butler directly and through back channels over the last five days to gauge his interest, but those players liked what they heard back from the Bulls’ three-time All-Star.
I think I'd rather have PG, but Butler has 3 years ( last one a player option) on his contract and PG will just be a one year rental.
I'd probably also slightly rather have George than Butler, but don't like George's contract dynamics. If Butler plays great defense in the finals next year (he will), and plays servicable offensively alongside Kyrie and LeBron (he should), think we'd be a much better equipped team to beat GSW next year.
@AmicoHoops says #Cavs are "exploring avenues" with signing Chris Paul & acquiring Carmelo Anthony from #Knicks in deal involving Cedi Osman
have no clue what possible "avenue" would enable them to sign paul. He's the head of the player's union, so i find it highly unlikely he'd sign for cheap. i guess they could do a sign and trade, but don't really know how they would make that work
Paul George, Jimmy Butler, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis and of course, Chancey Billups....all shit that has been thrown up against the wall the last 24 hours.
targeting anthony and paul makes no sense unless they're moving kyrie. way too many ball dominant players
the knicks, but they're fucking idiots so idk porzingis is the kind of guy you can build championship teams around for the next decade. knicks would have to be out of their goddamn minds to trade him for anything less than a godfather offer
Yeah I know, I'm just being overly optimistic fan guy. Porzingis doesn't want to be there and it sounds like they haven't heard from him since his exit interview.
yeah and it wouldn't surprise me at all if they do end up moving him. just don't think there's any reason to pull the trigger yet. still under team control for the foreseeable future. deal melo and try to find another young star in the draft and see if you can't find another via trade or FA. i do think melo can be had fairly easily. i won't be thrilled if that 's the only move they make, but a motivated melo surrounded by three other stars is certainly interesting to think about.
Goddamnit, Gilbert... http://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/r...vs-players-to-avoid-teams-volatile-situation/
I'm trying to roll my eyes at this because it seems like it happens every offseason. With that said, inside I'm pretty much...
So, per Windy, Love has little value on the trade market, abc is not a sufficient asset to get George or Butler...neither team is interested in him. Wow...didn't think Love was that undervalued by the league.
Believe it or not, your call, but have a friend who is close with someone on the Cavs. Said the locker room truly is pissed about Griffin leaving but its not some sort of disarray situation or anything. Also said it came down to money for Griffin - he demanded an egregious amount of money and Gilbert let him walk thinking whoever else they can get can do the job cheaper. Not like "strategic direction" shit.
Sounds like I should have rephrased this to Gilbert being a cheapskate. ESPN reporting they offered Billups $1.5-2.0m and an average GM makes $4m. I heard Griffin wanted $6m, but didn't post that because I have no clue what GMs should make. If he was asking for $6m and an average GM makes $4m, sounds about right tbh.
So this is the end, huh? Lebron is going to leave after next year and we're going to trade off Kevin Love. Rebuild the franchise around Kyrie.
