So, Rick Pitino huh?
1. I really liked the improvement from Sexton as the year went on and if they were to take Ja I think it slows the growth for both of them.
2. It would be a defensive nightmare.
3. I honestly think with NBA spacing RJ will be a lot better
He’s old, but better than some no-name retread.
he seems like a good fit for a young team. probably not so much for a team with veteran talent, but by the time we get to that level he'll likely be done anyway. i'm fine with it
Is Gilbert's son our rep at the lottery again?
Not super unique, but I personally view the prospects in four pretty clear tiers:
So I'm just rooting for us to stay in the top three tomorrow, anything more would be complete gravy. Jarrett Culver strikes me as a Beilein guy, which scares me if we're picking 4 or 5.
The NBA draft system is such a joke. And I’m saying this as a team that’s benefited previously.
The new lotto odds are such a fucking joke. Teams are still gonna tank because thats how you get better.
well, at least we have a super competent front office with a history of finding elite talent in the draft
As I text a gaggle of losers right after the lotto:
Let me google 6’2” shoot first point guard small school 2019 nba draft and give you my guess.
Darius Garland PG Vandy, 2.6 assists 16.2 points AND he’s 175. Mark it dude.
It's gonna be Culver or Hunter and we'll have ourselves a great third or fourth best player on a playoff team.
5 & 26 plus Love for 3.
tank one more year and get lucky next year. See, we draft Zion now and it's lebron 1.0 all over again
Too glgood too fast. This is my rationale but folks lemme tell ya I'm not sober lmao
If Love is fully healthy next year, Sexton progresses nicely, and Culver comes in as advertised, we're gonna be just good enough to be 8-12 in the lottery again next year and never really have a chance at a franchise player. Fun stuff.
I want DeAndre
Just no Reddish. For the love of God, no Reddish.
I actually have nothing against Reddish. That Duke team was constructed pretty terribly with a couple very high usage players. There was no real space or room for Reddish to develop - he probably just should have gone elsewhere, but I can see him playing well in the NBA
Still think it needs to go to purely random for the non-playoff teams. The only teams that might tank then are the ones that are fringe playoff teams with no realistic hope of doing anything in the playoffs.
Anyone with an ESPN sub care to post this?
Love and 5 in favor of 10,17 and 26 huh?
I'd send them Love for 10+17
Absolutely. His contract is an albatross for a team in rebuilding mode. Not a fan of giving up 5 at all though.
It's a weak draft where 1 is above average (Zion vs. a typical one), 2 and 3 are about average for their slots (Ja and RJ), and 4-10 are weaker than a typical 4-10. Hunter and Culver are going to develop into good players most likely, but I can certainly see the appeal of taking two high upside guys and coming out with something like Sekou at 10 and Brandon Clarke at 17, especially if we can flip Love into picks/prospects.
Are we confident Culver will ever be better than the third best player on a title contender? If not, then I can get behind the trade. In a typical year, giving up 5 is a tough pill to swallow but this year, I don't see a ton of difference between 5 and 10.
So we give up the chance to draft a mediocre prospect at 5 and an all star for the chance to draft two even more mediocre prospects? Man I miss Griff. SMFH....
All the buzz is that they’ve locked in at Hunter at 5.
Good thing for the Hornets?
a) i took under 5.5 for hunter
b) unless a meteor hits spectrum center to murder the franchise, there is no such thing as a "good thing" for the hornets
Makes sense, where are you seeing that?
Givony had us taking Garland is his mock draft last night and he's usually pretty clued in.
Just different guys on the radio/random internet buzz.
Welp, Atlanta's taking Hunter at 4 now it seems like.
So Garland or Culver?
Or trade down since their man is gone
I wonder if NY is interested in either of the guys they just worked out enough to swap picks with the Cavs?
I like Garland. I think he was the next best player after the top 3. Probably doesnt fit with sexton long term, but that's not really an issue right now
Garland is good
Love what they did tonight.
Porter is a headcase or what?
