6 inches of snow would’ve shut the city down dumb fuck Coming from the guy that said he’d prefer temps in the 100s than cooler weather you can miss me with your bullshit
For the 95th time, I said I'd take 100 over 40s and with gusting winds, and stand by that. You are seriously one of the softest people I've ever come across. Is the game being played tonight or next week?
Same here sir, will be tough to root for Texas after being such a big Rice fan growing up but will cheer for them if they advance
Not sure how much life experience you have but in case you haven’t noticed the world runs on eastern time
This scheduling sucks, the semi finals should be played on the same day. One group fans getting a head start on tickets and travel is dumb.
I don't think it's the yards as much as the big runs. Not to go DBL here, I think Texas can give up 150+ rushing yards as long as they're not long TD runs. They can't give up 150+ if it means Henderson or Judkins are running for 30+ yard scores. The key to having a chance against OSU isn't really about light boxes or anything other than avoiding big plays however your defense is best capable of doing that. If OSU is scoring multiple long TDs, it's going to win and probably by a lot. Especially if they happen early. Their defense is too good to fall behind by multiple scores.
I’m going today but I don’t think I’ll fork out the cash for the championship if Texas happens to win Prices will be fucking stupid for either matchup whether it’s OSU nd or Texas nd
definitely fair. but, when OSU does run for 150+, their ypc is nearly 6 yards a carry so they are busting those long runs to get to 150 while when they struggle to get to 150 their ypc is 3.6 and it's a lot of running your head into a brickwall type ground game (like seen vs Michigan or earlier this year vs Nebraska)
More worried about the pass d than run d. Texas shut out skattebo in the first half and then had to play for about 26 minutes in the 2nd half so they eventually wore down because the offense was dog shit
when the OSU offense is at its best under Day, they have a 55% pass to run ratio, they run for 150+ at nearly 6 ypc, and the pass game is around 69% completions (nice) at nearly 10 ypa (9.7) and they give themselves manageable 3rd downs leading to a conversion rate of nearly 53% when the offense is bad, it's ugly. they get stubborn with the run (43.9% pass to run ratio) at 3.6 ypc, the completion % falls by 3-4%, the YPA drops to 8.5 and they get behind the sticks and struggle on 3rd down (36.2%) scenario 1 they are 56-1 averaging nearly 45 ppg on 7.5 ypp scenario 2 they are 12-9 averaging 29 ppg on 6.2 ypp if we isolate for just games vs ranked opponents scenario 1: 14-1 averaging 35.7 ppg on 6.8 ypp. with 49% on 3rd down and 55.5% pass to run ratio scenario 2: 5-8 averaging 28.3 ppg on 6.3 ypp. with 38% on 3rd down and 42.3% pass to run ratio it's exactly as it looks, they must embrace their finesse/pass to set up the run profile or they are screwed
They've always been really good at breaking the long runs. But even Indiana and Iowa hung around for a while (on the scoreboard, at least) by not giving up huge plays. Indiana was in it until the Downs punt return in the third quarter. Iowa was only down 7-0 at the half. But if you let OSU get the big plays, they feed off that stuff better than anyone in the country. Especially now that they're playing faster again. Oregon and Tennessee gave 11 TDs, and 7 of them were 20+ yards. You have no chance against them if you're giving those up.
a look at OSU's game by game offensive advanced metrics. the rush success rate, ppa, and explosiveness was brutal vs Neb, IU, Michigan
Iowa made us work, but we aLao had turnover issues. Our first scoring drive took 14 plays to go 7-0. We then had a fumble and interception as Iowa bled the clock to half. We blew open the third quarter. Against Indiana, we had a drive stuffed at the 2 and another with an interception. When we don’t do dumb shit, were tough to beat.
Nebraska probably had the best gameplan. We hit two big play TDs early, but they were patient. They stopped us from running, then did a great job pressuring Howard. Other than the Michigan debacle, it was our worst game offensively.
We are making do on the OL. We lost our starting LT in early October, and eventually had to move our LG there. We lost our starting C in mid-November. We have used a Rubik’s Cube of rotations and combinations of starting fives on the OL. They punched above their weight the last two games. They did not earlier.
My point isn't that OSU can't score or win if they don't get big plays. Just that you allow yourselves the opportunity to get OSU to turn it over or get one stop on a 4th down. Or missing field goals. OSU isn't immune to that any more than other good teams. But OSU is better at generating big plays than anyone else, and the entire team feeds off that stuff in a way where it tends to turn into an avalanche like we've seen the last two games. My fear for Texas is that it hasn't seen anything close to OSU's skill talent since last year in this game when Washington went for 500+ yards (400+ passing yards) and 37 points.
OSU seems to be the most Jekyll and Hyde team I’ve seen. Struggled against Penn st, Michigan, and Nebraska. Blows out Oregon and Tennessee Hopefully they show up as the former team today
Michigan and Penn State have gone into every season forever knowing they have to beat OSU and build their schemes around playing them specifically. They know the personnel and coaches very well because they have to. I think it's hard to compare them to other teams that just show up on their schedule. It's like comparing the success the Steelers have had against Lamar to teams that see him once every 3-4 years in the NFC and get destroyed because they don't see anyone else like him.
The only one that was a real surprise was Nebraska. Penn St was very good and Michigan is their biggest rival. Watching that Nebraska game was pretty confusing
need Sark to challenge Ryan's manhood in the pregame talk. get Day to feel insecure and hell bent on showing how tough OSU is basically, Sark needs to bring Lou Holtz out to midfield lol
Turnovers killed us in each. Penn State: Howard threw a pick six and fumbled going into the end zone in the first half. Michigan: Howard threw an interception returned to our 2, and another at the Michigan 16. Nebraska: Howard threw an intervention returned to our 4.
We ran 31/64 against Nebraska. It was bad, but sometimes Day gets it in his head that we need to run so he can show everyone he’s a real man. Michigan does this to him every year. Howard went 13/16 for 221 and 3 TDs, but we decided we were going to run until it worked and it never did.
